Subject: Why does Bungie hate halo CE?

Posted by: ARMz of S0RRoW
It's like every Halo game they make..is a complete total opposite of the original. Hasn't bungie ever heard the saying..."Often imitated, never duplicated? I think Reach will be another H3. We will all have extremely high hopes..and then be left with a mediocre game. If they would just go back to their roots...the game would be amazing. Halo CE FTW!

i think you are absolutely right, but keep in mind that Halo's multiplayer almost didn't happen. it was thrown together at the last second. i believe i read many of the games multiplayer maps were just pieces of single player missions that didn't make the final cut of the game. SOMETIMES BASIC IS BETTER. i.e. Halo CE > Halo 3

issakcer

There are so many cool little things in Halo CE, like the animations of when you get the assault rifle out and when you draw the pistol. And the levels on halo CE seemed so much bigger and not so linear. The elites looked alot more hench and sounded more alien like, halo 2 and 3, they sound a litte boring and human.

But i still love halo 2 and 3

yeah they hate HALO: CE. So much in fact
that they decided to base the gameplay mechanics of ODST on it.

Single Welding
Health Packs
Small Jumps
Pistol Zoom (with one headshot kills)
One main assult weapon (i.e no BR)

And thats what we know of so far

They tried to make Halo 3 like Halo CE so hard, but it just didn't work.

Please elaborate....i can't think of one thing in H3 that reminded me of CE.

Anything reminiscent of CE would be found in the campaign, except for the assault rifle. Many of the structures on the Ark were similar to ones on Halo, like the control room. As for gameplay, they are two separate animals.

Yes that is what i meant. Not in a literal sense of them bringing back the pistol/AR etc.... I was referring to the actual game-play.

Bungie doesn't hate Halo: CE, it's just that after the success in online mulitplayer in Halo 2, they were focusing on Multiplayer more than Campaign in Halo 3 and the Campaign wasn't written by Joe Staten.
To me Halo has changed it's course thanks to Halo 3: ODST, the Campaign is amazing, the free-roam concept is decent and Firefight looks like it will be one of the best survival modes.
Oh and hey! Joe Staten writes the Campaign for Halo 3: ODST (Which is a good thing)

totally agree with you. they should go back to halo CE mainly for the awesome campaign but in terms of multi player, halo 3 was the best (IMO)

"In the end all you sold us was boredom." -Andrew Schwabb

Also.. as for Halo 3's Halo CEness... THE ENTIRE LAST LEVEL OF THE GAME.

Ha! great point! I loved that last level though, that was one of my favorite things from Halo CE and I was glad they brought it back...even though it wasn't as good as the original.

For me, the halo campaign was the best. Best pace, map design, everything.
Halo 3 I feel has the best multiplayer. So if they could combine the two with some tweaks and updates, Halo Reach will be truly epic.

Lets not forget that ODST gameplay will probably be an influence too...Bungie never starts over, they iterate. Add, improve, remove, enhance, etc.

Reach MMO. Here's to hoping.

And the people that believe "the hardcore playlists would be more popular if the rules were strictly MLG" can come off it, now. If you're not willing to support something close to your own setup, there's no reason for us to believe that cloning our own lists and stripping the variety down will attract more people. -- Shishka, Bungie.net

People who started on Halo CE think it's the best.

People who started on Halo 2 think it's the best.

People who started on Halo 3 think it's the best.

Why? Not because one of the games is "better" than another, but the absolute euphoria you get from playing Halo for the first time. They really are great games. However, every subsiquent Halo game that comes out just can't restore that same feeling that they got with that first Halo game that they played.

I have news for you...that feeling is never gonna come back, even if they made a Halo game that is exactly like the one that you enjoyed best and fixed all the flaws that you thought there were.

But there is great news, there is a way for you to get a that feeling again! Bungie needs to make a totally new, revamped Halo game. That is the only thing that give you that first time, this is amazing, euphoria fix that all of these Halo CE lovers are seeking.

Instead of trying to move backwards and try and recreate an experience that you will never have again, Bungie needs ot create the NEXT great gaming experience.
