Subject: I want the Covenant to be scary.

I am The Sapphire Knight

One problem I have with the franchise (well the games) is that I don't feel like I'm on the losing team. Most Human weapons are vastly superior to their Covie counterparts. The same goes for the units in Halo Wars.

So what I really want is for Bungie to show us why we are losing this war.

I want to see a spec ops Elite phase out of active camo and slaughter a marine squad with an energy sword.

I want to see a group of Marines run out of ammo and get torn to pieces by a horde of Grunts

I want to see a Hunter smack a warthog out of the way like it was nothing.

I want to see a Spiker pin people to walls and Brutes slice off limbs with their assortment of firearms with bayonets.

All I want is for Bungie to make me fear the Covenant.

I couldn't say it better.

Except, I also want Grunts to jump off of ledges onto me, and try and pull my helmet off lol!

=)

I couldn't agree more. I'd also like the lighting to be a little darker.

Also, I like the scenarios, let's come up with more!

I want to see a huge assault on a scarab go awry.

I want to be running through a field, dodging fire from swarming banshees

I want to get to the end of an exhausting level, after all of my allies were killed, only to have the objective destroyed at the last second.

Basically, I want this game to be a tragedy.

Actually, I find that I'm more invincible without pants, which is why I am not wearing any at the moment.

Awesome, I want a much more mature game.

Same,I wish that for once Bungie would bring in the gore Halo deserves.I mean, not an overwhelming amount but what deserves to be there.
I mean, when I shoot a grunt in the head I want for there to be blood on whatever it was standing behind and a bloody wound in its head.

Just like back in Halo: CE, Legendary, On the ship Truth and Reconciliation.
That was when, if you didn't know....you would die many times.

Yes make them deadly, make them gritty, make everything about them lethal and menacing.

having the covenant scary would be cool

Allways looking for a good game.

I agree to the 7th power.

You wanna play rough? OK!!!

Hell yeah!

I remember back in HALO: CE I thought the Flood was scary... but I was, like, in the 5th grade so... yeah...

  • 09.01.2009 10:33 PM PDT

Agreed, and I'd like to see holes from plasma blasts through dead marines chests.

I personally feel that Halo Wars cut scenes portrayed this very well, marines going down from single shots of a needler, the combat against the arbiter (minus the last part with forge). Granted however all that actual combat footage was actually limited, and most of it was just crew interactions.

I suppose part of the problem is that you have been playing as a Spartan or High ranking elite up until now, playing on Legendary really gives you a true feeling of what the war is actually like if you just step aside from the battles in halo 3.

Omg It's Gears of Halo! =o

Just kidding I agree with you 100%. When I saw the Halo: Landfall trailer for Halo 3, and saw brutes pin marines to wall with spikers, I was like "OMG AWESOME!". It wasn't in Halo 3 though =(

Has anyone actually thought that there is a possibility this game could be played from the UNSC's and the Covenant's views? If we played the Covenant side, we could play as Orna 'Fulsamee before he was the Arbiter. Or what about that 'Zamamee fellow?

Actually, no. Scratch that.

If you've read TFoR, you'd know that the defeat at Reach was Humanity's biggest setback. This game must be tragic and have a sense of purpose.

I agree. It doesn't help in part to the fact that, well, Elites don't look menacing at all in Halo 3. I know that the phrase is overused, but they really do look like "stupid dinosaurs".

I also want the Marines to be more serious. There's nothing less immersive than having a Marine on your side making some stupid joke when the human race faces extinction, unless i've got the IWHBYD skull on.

  • 09.02.2009 2:49 AM PDT

7 lines isn't long enough for a signiture! =P

MegaHaxPwnage

That would be awesome. A little more gorey, maybe like gears of war, but not gears of war. XD
I would like to see a swarm of drones tear the limbs off a marine, and see an ODST crush a jackals skull with its own energy shield.

Hell yes. Assuming this game is based roughly around the fall of Reach, this should be the darkest time for humanity, where every battle is being lost and we have no hope against the covenant.
Getting to see some more of space battles would be awesome, I think the little parts in the halos so far haven't made them impressive enough.

  • 09.02.2009 3:18 AM PDT

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

I want to be the Elite, and tear a Marine squad to pieces with nothing but my trusty Energy Sword.

  • 09.02.2009 3:43 AM PDT

Well not that i wouldn't mind seeing those things, it must be said that the reason why humanity is losing so badly is down to space battles. The covenant when attacking a human occupied world just glass it from orbit & when coming across human space craft, the general rule is it takes 3 or more human craft to take out a single covenant.
Whenever ground battles took place (which were quite limited considering the scale and lenght of the war), humanity can hold their own to such an extent that they are generally considered the stronger.
