Here comes Tulkas

Just curious as to how others were introduced to Halo CE. I wish I could say that I randomly bought it when it first came out without any knowledge about the game. I actually bought it a few months after it came out, after a few LAN parties with some friends. I used to play Goldeneye every weekend with 3 of my friends before the XBox had come out. Halo replaced that, and we got even more people to come play with us. Aww, the memories of 8 v 8 Sidewinder... them were the days!

Smerious!

All my friends were playing it and were talking about how much they love the XBox so I figured to give it a try.... I did and look were I am now! ( A frequent Halo 3 player)

EXTREME PREJUDICE

First played Halo and the Xbox at an Electronic Boutique back in '01. Hadn't even heard of the game before then.

I was hogging that kiosk for hours.

I remember i went over to a friends house and played a 1 v 1 against him. I still remember my first halo kill too, warthog splatter. :)

R.I.P. Halo 2
11/9/04 - 4/15/10

- B( )B

Well, one day I went to my next door neighbor's/one of my best friend's house to see what he was up to (it was near the end of our summer going into 6th grade). And it turned out, that his cousin (who I had known a little bit before that) was moving into the neighborhood. He had an Xbox, and this sweet game called Halo. It was rated M (OH TEH NOES!!). So his cousin came over after he was done with cross country practice, and took us and a few other friends over to his house to play this mysterious game.

I did not have a very well established gaming name at that point, and he decided that he get's to choose that name of newer gamers on his Xbox. He called me B( )B, and that's what it has been since 2003. We played tons of 4 player free for all, and it was by far the greatest game I had ever played (and this remains true to this day). Halo is the game that turned me into a gamer.

Check out my Gaming Rig on EVGA Mod Rigs.

My next door neighbor bought the Xbox when it launched in 2001. Halo happened to be included in the box and I remember staying up all night playing until we beat the campaign. After that we became obsessed with MP and I have been addicted to the series ever since.

For me Halo is the best game series of our generation [PERIOD].

I dunno what to say about myself.

my brother was a techy during that time and even had myth when it was still big. His friend had an xbox and four controllers so we have sick FFA's whenever we went to his house. So nostalgic

I was introduced to Halo CE by a fellow Marine in MOS school in 2004 where I first found out how much i enjoyed tormenting people on it. That is also the time when I came up with my name that i have only slightly varied since then. He hated playing against me after that and always called me a Rat Bast***. This name had to be tweaked slightly for online gameplay after that, but it has stuck since those first few games which began my addiction to playing Halo.

Wow. Played my first video game over 30 years ago. Was called "Sea Wolf," and had this periscope on the cabinet. (A huge casing that held the game screen for younger folks out there. Actual "arcade.") Very primitive stuff. Is a hoot to see things go from Atari to Intellivision to Nintendo and beyond. To be honest, I got CE for free since my wife was working for Microsoft at the time. Had no expectations, and was averse to violence. But, CE was so much of a revolution, it became far more than just a simple game. The wife has since stopped being jealous of it. Nerd boyman is simply going to spend too many hours playing it.

I believe I first played it at an old friend of mine's house not long after it was released. I was probably 11 or 12 at the time.

Boy was I sucked in right away.

I'm 23, I have a house, dog, girlfriend, job and I have no interest in any fanboyism so if you're thinking about sending me a childish PM, don't be surprised when I don't call back.

I had a PS2 at the time, I swore that it was better than the xbox but then i actually played one, first game i played was Halo and i loved it. I bought an xbox to play Halo:CE and it also turned out to be a decent console.

I remember Sea Wolf. Damn, that was a long time ago.

For me, I got my Xbox about 4 years after launch as a Christmas gift from my wife and after reading so many different stories and postings about how fun this game is, I made it my first purchase when it landed on the Platinum Hits. Even my best friend would go on and on and on about it.

First time through was pretty cool but I seemed to have had higher expectations. It wasn't until I put the game away for about 6 months and decided to give it another shot - and something just snapped. I couldn't stop playing the game.

My wife loves Quake and I tried and tried and tried to get her to try this game, but she refused because there's no "keyboard and mouse" option. I finally wore her down after a year or so. Now, together we've been playing CE for probably four or five years, beaten on every difficulty in almost every way possible. We'd sometimes spend an entire weekend playing, which usually involved mass consumption of weed.

Mmmm, good times.

Nice work there on getting the boss (married code for "wife") to play an actual game. Mine does Feeding Frenzy 2 and nothing else. Is amazing that anyone else actually knows Sea Wolf. Wow. I remember when there were lines of people waiting to play Pac-Man. The song, the cartoon, the pasta...Gives a little historical perspective to just how great CE actually is. That people as old as we could think so much of it. (Dragon's Lair, Star Wars vector...we've seen a lot.) This Halo thing is special. Its excellence is truly something to treasure across the board. There are probably more of us "old guys" out there than would even admit. Viva Halo.

Daleks conquer and destroy!

well, my Dad got it back when I was about 5 or 6 and he let me have a go, then we used to keep playing co-op together. We got to the last mission and never completed it (the disk got scratched). Then I saw an ad for halo 2, I wanted it. I got it. Then the xbox was going down hill and the ps2 was dominating. So I was going to get a ps3 and I heard about halo 3. So I decided to get a 360 and I got halo 3 with it. Then my friend talked me into halo wars. And now I've preordered ODST. Next stop, REACH!

halo 2 still the best game in the series. long live halo 2.

Dam, I miss the old days playing halo 2 with my old brothers in arms. Thank you my old friends for giving me this account, I shall continue our legacy.

I saw that it was a new game many years ago so I decided to buy it. Later found out that I bought it 3 days after it was released.

My folks didnt want me to have a videogame console so I saved for like a year. I went to EB games to buy a PS2 but the had a 50 rebate deal for the xbox. And one of the requisites was that i had to buy Halo CE, i had no idea what that game was. But it ended up being one of my favorite games on the Xbox Library
