Subject: Halo Reach...and how it's to be.

I'm a 15 year old stuck in the middle of nowhere. Machinima director, screenplay writer, novelist, jazz musician, and Photoshop junkie.

You all obviously recognize this.
Let's take a look at the key factors in what the people in the trailer are saying.
FROM THE BEGINNING...YOU KNOW THE END
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
The following text above is a key factor as to when the storyline takes place. I have never read the Halo novels but as from what I am guessing is that Halo: Reach is going to take place (From the beginning) as in what everybody is probably guessing from the title The Battle of Reach. Most likely you will be taking a point as Master Chief but you might be possibly fighting as one of the buddies that he is with. See this for more details on that subject

Let's look at something else.
"Unknown slip-space rupture." I don't really know what this is at the moment, but from what I can obviously tell this the U.N.S.C. talking at this moment. Possibly a Covenant armada. Let's move on.

"Reading multiple pings below the orbital defense grid." A large amount of bad guys in my opinion, let's keep watching.

"There's no mistake it's them." Covenant obviously.

"This is Sierra 320 ready for combat insertion." You see the explosion shortly after. No one knows who this person is, but I think this could either be a Pelican drop-ship designation, SPARTAN or Marine, or ODST. Who knows? Maybe the explosion was a drop pod.

"We're coming hot! We just lost our bird.!" Again with the Sierra 320 thing once again most likely a Hornet, Hawk, or Pelican.

"Chatter of yelling screaming and cries for help" Obviously judging from the look of the planet it seems like the planet is getting glassed, but I don't see any Covenant ships."

"I need you in that fight Noble-One...*no response*" This could possibly mean that the group of people yelling was probably named Noble-One considering the sudden silence. Or it could be

"This is Sierra 259, youve got SPARTANS on the ground Sir, we're not going anywhere." It could probably be this guy named Sierra 259 but no one really knows.

Any ideas guys? Any conclusions?

oh death was never enemy of ours

when they say "sierra" before a number it means Spartan. i Think it could be Fred, also "...we just lost our bird..." is when the spartans have to jump out of a pelican because it couldnt land.

Sierra is a SPARTAN, the numbers is a huge clue and in Halo 3, Master Chief is called Sierra 117.
The "Bird" which is lost is a Pelican.
Other than that, you got it down pretty good. When it says "From the beginning, you know the end," it is stating that this is one of the first battles of the war with the Covenant, and you know the end because if you have finished Halo 3, then you know the end. When it says unknown slip-space rupture, it means that something just came out or went in a slip-space and it is unknown, sounds pretty much like what is says. I'm not sure all of what I'm saying is true, but from the books and games, these are my conclusions.

Speaking of which the fact that the theory that Master Chief goes in a wormhole which is ridiculous in my opinion.

Your right. For all we know this game probably doesn't take place at Reach.

Wrong on two accounts. First, Reach was one of the last battles in this war (as the war ends a few months after).
Secondly, Sierra doesn't necessarily mean Spartan. It is phonetical code for S (it could mean spartan, sniper, spec ops, etc). People draw the conclusion that sierra=spartan because the only character you play in the game series is Master Chief, who is a Spartan. So of course you would hear his code name be "Sierra." If you played the halo trilogy as a sniper, your code name could be Sierra too, and you would think from the trailer that Sierra=sniper. You can't be absolutely sure about these things. It can be likely that it is a Spartan (provide some evidence here to prove why), but don't say that it is for sure a Spartan.

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

FYI, considering that the voice at the end of the trailer calls himself "Sierra" and then proclaims "Spartans on the ground", it is pretty clear that Sierra is still being used as a reference for Spartans. In regards to Reach as a planet in this game, it is unlikely that the game would feature more planets, though it is entirely possible. A good source of info for possibilitis and to enforce peoples knowledge of whats happened would be the novels The Fall of Reach and First Strike.

Based on info from those two books we know that the Sierra numbers given off in the trailer are not any Spartans that have been identified as of yet in any known media. Add to that the dialouge in the trailer, and the obvious acceleration of time in the traliers dialouge and visual "action" and you can surmise that they are talking about the Covenant invasion of Reach (only happened once) and the Spartans response to it, more than likely from the Pillar of Autumn, before it made the jump to the first Halo featured in Halo CE.
