Go away.

Hey.
I have yet, another question.

I was playing Halo 3 and I hit him and he said "Is this because of Reach?"
I never read the book but were elites involved with REACH?

Can someone give me a short based story to understand what REACH is?
Thank you!

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Oh yes. Elites were very involved with Reach. That was before the Brutes took over, or were dispersed in wide use. The Elites were the leading force in taking Reach.

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

According to Fall of Reach Elites were the only Reason the UNSC lost Reach.

Also, according the the book, Elites never fought on the ground, or were even seen by any UNSC personnel until Reach, but this is another broken Canon by Halo Wars.

Anyway, yes, Elites DESTROYED Reach, which is the planet the Spartans trained on, grew up on, and called home.

So Reach=The Planet on the end of Halo 3?

I just don't get how chief was going to REACH at the end when the elites were on there side.
Did he go back in time?

Halo Wars breaking canon here could be disputed. There is a whole new story/mini-universe created outside of explored regions of space where it mostly takes place. The fact that Halo canon says Elites never fought on the ground before Reach or the UNSC never encountered the flood before Halo: CE both suggest that the crew of Halo Wars never returned home.

No, Reach has NOTHING to do with the Planet at the end of Halo 3.

Reach takes place right before, and during the events of Halo 1

Basically like this.

1: Covenant attack Reach

2: Master Chief leaves Reach on the Pillar of Autumn

3: MOST of the Spartans on Reach die.

4: Master Chief destroys Halo.

5: Master Chief returns to Reach and reunites with the very few Spartans he can find.

6: Halo 2

7: Halo 3

When? In HALO 1? I didn't remember that...

After Halo 1, before Halo 2.

That's what I find is odd about that book: If Elites were the leading force of the covenant, why haven't they been encountered during the 27 years of war? Did they just send in Grunts? I mean, Brutes weren't allowed on the battlefield after the First Battle of Harvest.

The UNSC had come across Jackals, Grunts, and VERY rarely Hunters. The Brutes attacked Harvest. Other than that, they hadn't seen any other species until the Elites attacked Reach. But according to Halo Wars, Elites were there for the Second Battle for Harvest...

I believe that, because Bungie oked it to Ensemble. That book doesn't make much sense about Elites.

Resignation is my virtue; like water I ebb, and flow.
Defeat is merely the addition of time to a sentence I never deserved...but you imposed.

There's a book that tells the events before Halo 1, which is what Halo: Reach will probably be similar, and there's a book between Halo 1 and Halo 2 in which tells of how Master Cheif got home. Those are what he's talking about.

The majority of the war was faught agaisnt Grunts, Jackles, and some Engineers. Other than Harvest, where brutes were encounterd.Elites were fought briefly on Harvest/Arcadia but the SoF never made it back to Harvest. Hunters weren't fought until Sigma Octus IV, not long before Reach Fell. And Drones weren't fought until Earth. (Too my knowledge)

It doesn't make much sense, but whatever.

"YOUR DESTRUCTION IS THE WILL OF THE GODS, AND WE ARE THEIR INSTRUMENT."

Elites were the primary shipmasters and true to the name, the elite soldiers of the Covenant. So yes. Elites glassed dat Reach to hell and a half.

  • 09.02.2009 6:35 PM PDT

Dang man this is just a video game why did Bungie have to make it so complicated.

Screw the books, they're too confusing. The Flood made Elites unhonorable, Reach states that Elites wasn't encountered throughout the war until then, etc.

Can you even imagine Grunt Squads without an Elite or Brute? Because I shure can't.
