Yeah, I think that drawing a comparison between having a thread go missing on B.net and 1984 is really appropriate. I mean, c'mon. It's almost as if you invoked Godwin's Law in the subject line.

Likely, you lost your obviously lame, and pitiful thread. Believe it or not, most people don't care when some idiot (You) mouths off, decided to share their outwardly stupid and uninformed opinion, and then decides to call attention to himself by claiming he was part of a conspiracy. Sure it doesn't happen every day, but they still wouldn't care.

In your head, these threads probably sounded brilliant. It's not your fault, you're kind of dumb. You were born that way.

Oh, ok. It looks like I'm going to have to use small words here.

You see, this forum system is so horrible that I'm forced to bookmark my threads to ever have a chance of finding them again. I bookmarked the one in question. Guess what happens when I go there? Post censored...err, deleted.

Very good, we now know the 11 year old got a thesaurus for his birthday, and apparently a copy 1984 that was never fully read.

this forum system is so horrible that I'm forced to bookmark my threads to ever have a chance of finding them again.

Thats because of people such as yourself that fill the threads up with spam, and of course all of Bungie's fans who voice there opinion in the forums (That is why there here.)

wait..wait..wait, so were now down to "I know you are but what am i?"..wow.
P.s.
Why don't you post a link to the thread in question?

Well, there were the E3 PSA's about Halo 2, for example. But in general, RvB satirizes war (and what sort of practical, philosophical positions could possibly lead to two armies fighting over a meaningless box canyon).

If anything, RvB does a good job of satirizing a lot of the flame wars we get ourselves into in these forums, albeit in an abstract way.

But in any case, your fight doesn't seem to be with me. I leave you to explain to the Septagon readers further parallels between George Orwell, Ray Bradbury, and the Bungie moderator team. Fun fact: 451 is not divisible by 7.

I'm not sure if you're being retarded or not, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt. 1984 concerns Big Brother, general creepiness, and privacy, control of information, and other such things. Fahoweveryouspellit 451 is another present crapped out by Bradbury that concerns book burning and freedom of information. Pretty simple, right?

spambotdotnet, I'm not sure if you're being retarded or not, but insulting people has never been a good way to get your point across.

There is nothing Orwellian about the Bungie moderators habits in locking or deleting threads.

The simple fact is, it's a lot easier on the servers to simply lock a thread. If your thread was deleted, it was done so for a reason. And not a reason like "Bungie Sucks/is a liar/is a bunch of jerk-offs" Deleting generally means something happened in the thread that was severely disturbing, or it degenerated past the point of hope, and the thread was deleted to prevent further offense from the populace.

Bungie in general is a company, they have fulfilled their end of the bargain. I have seen a good amount of negative posts that haven't been deleted or even locked. It's about the way you present yourself. And if you're free from guilt in the presentation, I'd look to the people who participated in your thread - they're likely the ones to blame.

So in short - there is no conspiracy, and you aren't Goldstein. If there were, this thread would have been deleted before anyone else had seen it. But Achronos isn't the Thought Police either.

Well, there were the E3 PSA's about Halo 2, for example.

In particular, their reactions to the changes in weaponry and vehicles... that PSA was hillarious, and I think it qualifies as satire directed at Bungie. Relatively gentle, sure, but it is about a game, after all.

But in any case, your fight doesn't seem to be with me. I leave you to explain to the Septagon readers further parallels between George Orwell, Ray Bradbury, and the Bungie moderator team. Fun fact: 451 is not divisible by 7.
Meh, sometimes I wish they'd TOZT more threads... the fantastic repetitiveness and thoughtlessness of some of these posts makes me regret the teaching of literacy before puberty sometimes. (And that says something; for me, literacy is one of the three key skills that MUST be taught in schools in order for them to qualify as schools. The others are critical thinking, or at least the fundamentals of logic, and mathematics.)

However, to address spambotdotnet's complaints, it's been my experience that mods tend only to delete threads that are off-topic or violate the Terms of Use. Usually this is followed by an account suspension of some period as a warning to the user. As the link you provided leads to a null result I can't tell why said post was deleted, but I've gotta say that when in doubt I'll take the word of the moderator in question... they've got the least to gain by spinning a line. (Remember that moderators work on a volunteer basis. Net pay is "nada", so Bungie has no hook to drag 'em on.)

I'll also say that spambotdotnet weakened his argument by resorting to hyperbole. Deletion of threads is hardly comparable to ubiquitous thought control or mandatory book burnings. Let's have a sense of proportion here, please.

-- Steve thinks that the vast majority of posters on b.net these days have lost that sense of proportion. C'mon, folks, it's a game. If you want to exercise moral indignation, try working on poverty or illiteracy or world hunger or something.

I really don't think he expected as many of us to have read the book. Or that we obviously have a better grasp on it than he does.

I wonder, do you walk around your house with your back to the TV?

I would guess that he doesn't even own a T.V with the rediculous remarks that he's spewing. There's nothing that pisses me off more then making over-the-top claims that someone's (being you) rights were "violated" and that the situation on this here forum is "controlling" and "censored". It is simply people like you who cause threads like yours to be deleted... you're the cause of your own dilema. The fact is is that you obviously play one of Bungie's games, right? so when you pay money for that game you're paying for the right to play it, nothing else. When you come one these forums and expect "better" treatment it's a little ridiculous.

As its been said numerous times the rules on bungie.net are dictated in the Terms of Use, and the other rules regarding these forums. If you really want to blow some steam over "rights" why not join an organization aiming to abolish child labour, or even the protection of womens' rights. It seems almost ridiculous to come here and try and make us see that Bungie is doing something very, very wrong. Listen buddy, they make VIDEOGAMES, not nuclear warheads, they spent long hard hours making their games, their website, and this forum, and when you come here and insult them it contributes to the problem that so bothers you. IF you don't like this forum, then bug off, or maybe the mods will have to show you the door....

I'll try it without the flames this time. (It's just less fun..)

There is absolutely no chance that Bungie would censor a topic like that. There is just no need to, as such thing is just a fan, and customer, displaying his disproval over certain points of the game. Any forum system would crack under THIS much pressure, there's bound to be a few bits of data lost or misplaced. Even *Gasp* IPB or the like. IdealScience was chosen for scalability, and it works well. Honestly, if you put something like IPB into an environment like this, you'd probably have more problems. Many, many threads have been lost accidentally, and it's far more likely yours was one of them. If you had a legitimate problem to voice, it's a shame that it got lost.

However, you shouldn't automatically use stupid technical errors to justify your point. You don't know why the thread went missing, yet you decide to post again, this time calling the moderators fascist Orwellian dictators, quashing anyone questioning Bungie. That sure is one way to lionize yourself, man. Instead of first trying to post the thread again, you decide that you'd like to play the victim and see where the attention train stops. It's not the right thing to do. You are accusing people carelessly, perhaps you should have contacted a moderator first, or tried re-posting the thread?

Accusations without proof are nothing, and they tend to annoy the people you accuse, and the people who sit on the sidelines and watch. You should have thought this out a little more (Or, found some evidence) before you accused people.

Besides, we'll usually believe the moderators over you anyways.

Although the more i think of it, this is all starting to make sense. Bungie's main plan is to take over the world. They have recruited many on these forums for the 7th army, But one day a 11 year old saw the 7ru7h and spoke out, only to be censored by the super mutated underground lizard men Bungie uses as mods. Then in a drunken rampage the webmaster deleted his topic, why? Because it contained information to the wear abouts of Ling lings head, he copied the information to an empty tequila bottle and erased the thread so that only he knows. The Webmaster got the super mom pleasuring team together and left on their multi-player banshees to find Ling Lings head the awesome power that can only be unleashed to any drunken monkey that holds it!

Come on mods. Achronos? Come on in and 1984 it up some more. Anyone wanna tell me why my thread was deleted? Oh, wait, I've got it: it questioned Bungie's stance on cheating. It called the bluff. It called BS on the constant vague threats to cheaters and the incredibly broad definition of cheating.

Can you not handle satire? Can you not handle unsatifsied customers? Is it just me, or is a fricken customer service department not just there to have shiny gold letters and talk down to all the free-thinking infidels?

Just explain to me why you deleted it. Not only do I want a reason, but I suspect I'll get a laugh. And while you're at it, delete this one too. Thanks.

By the way, from now on I'll be saving copies of my threads. This is the only forum I have to do it for.

As Achronos said, you have no real rights as far as this goes. Neither Bungie or mods are in no way obliged to give you a reason for deleting your thread.

End of.

Perhaps other members were flaming your post. That is equal grounds for deletion. It may not have been your fault in the first place, but that of others.
