That may be, but Wraiths are around 6 tons of just armor. True, the back and bottom are exposed, but it still takes ALOT to destroy one. I would say a "normal mine" is equivalent to two or maybe three frags in one...toss three frags under a wraith and see what happens...you'll just piss the driver off.

But then again, I don't think there are "normal mines" in the Halo story. I think they just use Lotus's...

Depends on the type of mine, remote triggered mine would destroy it, as you command the detonation. Proximity mines, your probably right.

Land mines only blow when you step on them.
Wraiths and ghosts can step on mines, because they float.

But lotus mines can be used as proximity mines. That's mostly how the MC uses them in the books, to cover his tracks, and provide a warning against attack from behind.

a mine would still explode when they went over it because of all the downward force that would be holding the tank up. just because it is in the air doesn't mean it has no weight, it means something is pushing it up there.if you were to sit on the ground underneath a wraith, you would die because whatever keeps it afloat would be pushing down on you. granted, it wouldn't be the weight of the entire tank, but it would be more than enough to kill anything.

If they detonate under pressure they won't work against the floating covie vehicles....

umm, if they float then don't you think that they create pressure beneath themselves to stay floating? I imagine that the are kinda like hovercraft, minus the rubber rim. Maybe the airpressure would be enough to detonate the advanced 'Lotus' mine...
