I'm xAssault12x, and I love the Halo Universe. Discussion please!
Lets look at what has already been given to use by Bungie. This information comes from the Halo book series and the current Halo games as well as any official Bungie statement or video.
Lets consider the Halo Reach trailer. Some words a played across the screen and then the camera slowy pans accross a planet while we listen in on radio traffic. Here is what is said word for word.
From The Beginning
You Know The End
Gamma station, this is Fermiad RSO, we have unconfirmed reports of an in-system slip space rupture.
Impossible. Check your source.
Reading multiple pings below the orbital defense grid.
Oh this can't be happening.
There's no mistake. It's them.
Winter Contingency has been declared; all units are mobilized and ready.
This is Sierra 320. Prepped for covert insertion.
What the hell was that?
We're coming in hot. Hold on.
We just lost our bird.
Oh my God.
What the hell is happening down there? The city just dropped off my map.
There are still people down here.
Where's our evac?
Were being over run. We'll hold this position as long as we can.
I need you in that fight noble 1. Noble 1 come in. Noble 1 do you read me?
This is sierra 259. You got spartans on the ground sir. We're not goin anywhere.
Halo Reach
Falls 2010
That is everything said and all the words that popped up on the screen.
Here is what IGN has to say.

Lets examin it.
From the beginning, you know the end.
In order for this to be true we would have had to have been able to read the story before, and guess what, anyone who bought the books Halo The Fall of Reach and Halo First Strike has read the story and knows the end. The before mentioned books are the only official stories about the Fall of Reach. Reach was only attacked one time and all but a small portion of the planet was glassed. The only part to survive was a forrested area that was above ONIs Castle facility that was burried deep in a mountain.
Sierra is the code word for Spartan, and later in the trailer a spartan gives his number and identifies himself as a spartan and also reveals that there are multiple spartans on the ground. In the books a lot of spartans go to the surface of Reach to defend the generators that power the orbital MAC cannons.
The last words we see are Halo Reach Falls 2010.
Compare this to the title of the first book.
Halo The Fall of Reach
Halo Reach Falls 2010
Hmmmmmm
They look pretty similar to me.
Only two words are missing and a year was added.
If you read Halo The Fall of Reach and Halo First Strike then you know that Halo Reach is going to be made from the books.
You will not play as the Master Chief. How do I know this? Easy. While the events that took place on the surface of Reach were unfolding, the Master Chief was busy destroying the First Halo. Another thing you would already know if you had read the books. The only way you would play as the Master Chief is if the game only follows Halo The Fall of Reach and the majority of the game is spent on the early missions or some of the first missions the spartans went on with their Mark V armour and then the last mission you play is going on board a space station in orbit of Reach and destroying a nav data crystal before the Covenant can get it. Right after that is when the Pillar of Autumn picks up the Master Chief and they end up at the first Halo shortly after that.
Now lets discuss all the speculation people have made.
Many people claim that the planet at the end of Halo 3 is Reach. Impossible. Reach was almost completely glassed by the Covent before Halo CE. The only way the planet at the end of Halo 3 could be Reach is if the Master Chief and Cortana had somehow traveled back in time when the portal collapsed and the chunk of ship they were in returned to normal space. The portal only transports objects and it doesn't mess with time. Time travel is not a part of the Halo Universe because Bungie knows that would be dumb and they have tried to keep things believeable. The only thing close to time travel in the Halo Universe is when a Forerunner artifact warped time so the Master Chief could make it back to Reach after destroying the first Halo just in time to save the Spartans and a few others who were still alive on the surface keeping the same artifact away from the Covenant.
Also, Reach looks nothing like the planet at the end of Halo 3. Reach has several cities scattered across the surface near bodies of water and the planet at the end of Halo 3 appears to have one massive city covering the surface.
Another thing to point out. If Cortana and the Master Chief did end up in orbit of Reach wouldn't Cortana have picked up on the radio chatter? The answer is yes. The stern of the frigate they are in is practicaly in orbit of the planet when Halo 3 ends. Cortana would have known they were in orbit of Reach or any UNSC planet for that matter. Instead she has no idea and says it will take years to get rescued. The planet at the end of Halo 3 is NOT Reach.
Also, the planet at the end of Halo 3 is not Onyx. Onyx was a Forerunner Shield World. The surface of the planet was a thin shell, and just under it is a massive army of sentinals that are arranged in a defensive formation that is protecting the portal that leads to a mini dyson sphere in a slip space bubble. At the end of the book Halo Ghosts of Onyx, the surface of the planet is gone and all you can see is the massive army of sentinals. The mini dyson sphere is in a slip space bubble and the sentinals are guarding the portal that leads to the dyson sphere. The planet at the end of Halo 3 is obviously a planet and not a massive army of sentinals.
The planet could be any number of diferent things. It could be a Covenant world, another Forerunner Shield World, or a planet occupied by an advanced civilization that we have never seen before. No one knows what that planet is until Bungie tells us. The one thing we do know is the planet is NOT Reach or Onyx.
As far as the banner with the five figures. I couldn't tell you what they are exactly. It is most likey the Spartans that survived on the surface of Reach in the book Halo First Strike. I will admit that the figure on the left does look a little like an elite. However, if you look closely at his legs then you can see that his legs are the same as all the other figures. Elites legs bend in 2 places and all the figures have the same legs that have clearly visible knees. Maybe it is just a huge spartan.
Here is what the game will most likely be about. It will follow the spartans who went to the surface of Reach to defend the reactors that power the orbital defense platforms. Those spartans fought entire armies of Covenant ground forces and they even got to use a nuke to destroy a Covenant Cruiser. Even though they were able to take out massive numbers of Covenant, many spartans died and the reactors were lost. The remaining spartans teamed up with some marines, Dr Halsey, and Admiral Whitcomb. They discover a Forerunner artifact and fight to keep it from the Covenant. The Master Chief arrives just in time to save them, and together the Master Chief, Cortana, Admiral Whitcomb, Dr Halsey, Sargent Johnson, Several Spartans, an ONI officer, a navy pilot, and an ODST escape Reach. They are the only people who survive the attack on Reach. Not all of them make it back to Earth, but they end up destroying a massive Covenant station allong with a huge Covenant fleet that was preparing to attack Earth.
Halo Reach is a prequal to Halo CE. Bungie has already said that. If it is a prequal and we already know the story, then the only logical conclusion is that the game will be based off of one or both of thebooks Halo The Fall of Reach and Halo First Strike. I personally think it will be based off of the story of the spartans who went to the surface of Reach like I talked about before.
We will most likely see the return of many familiar guns and vehicles, but there could be some changes and maybe even some additions or removal of some weapons. New weapons is allways cool and really it is anyones guess on what might be added. I personally want to see some kind of Gauss rifle that can shoot through thin walls and lightly armoured vehicles. It would be like an amazing sniper rifle but with way less ammo and you would have to reload after every shot. Weapons that might go away would include Brute weapons and vehicles and the spartan laser. Equipment could go anywhere. No equipment, more equipment, less equipment, or different equipment. Something cool they could add would be a remote detonated charge that you could place on something and then detonate it at any time.
I really hope they increase the customization of your character. I want to see 100 different helmets, shoulder pads, symbols etc...
The ranking system should be based half on Career Kill/Death Ratio and half on a point system.
Example of points per game.
+7 per win -6 per loss
Objective Game Points
+1 per flag score, +1 per bomb detonation, +3 for most time with odd ball, +2 for second most time with odd ball, +1 per VIP kill, +1 posotive K/D Ratio, -1 negative K/D Ratio, +1 most kills,
+1 second most kills, -1 most deaths, -1 second most deaths
Slayer Match Points
+4 most kills, +3 second most kills, +2 third most kills, -3 most deaths, -2 second most deaths,
-1 third most deaths, +1 posotive K/D Ratio, -1 Negative K/D Ratio
Rank requirements should be a certain number of points for each level and a Career Kill/Death Ratio for every 5 levels. For example: to be a level 36 you need 860 points and a Career Kill/Death Ratio of 1.6. This would keep noobs from getting a level 50. In almost every game noobs will get high level because they play the game every day and the ranking systems are based on experience and not skill. Comment please.
