As for brute appearances, I think some should have power armor, while others look like halo 2 brutes, (but with better tribal armor) but still be as tough as a Halo 2 brute, vitality wise.

As for Berserking, (a campaign only thing) it should be like halo 2, except, that brutes can now jump up ledges with ease, and they will melee if your in range, unless they try to tackle you from a distance.

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

Brutes weren't allowed on Reach?

Meh, I thought that they would back up the elites in small numbers in a close quarter combat role while the elites are more of a medium range enemy. I mean think about it, brutes wield:

Maulers - Close Range Weapon
Spikers - Close Range Weapon
Spike Grenades - Effective at Close Range
Flame Grenades - Effective at Close Range
Hammer - Melee Range Weapon
Brute Plasma Rifle - Close Range Weapon
Brute Shot - Close Range Weapon
Brute Pimp Slap - Melee Range Weapon

They are a race of close range warriors. It makes for them to run ahead of the elites and soak up bullets as they try to kill you up close as the Elites kill you from cover farther back with their carbines.

The major reason why I think that Halo 3's campaign was so damn easy was that most the enemies capable of attacking you at medium range or beyond had no shields and made them easy to take out with a BR.

There have been brutes with Carbines, Beam Rifles, Fuel Rod Cannons, and Plasma Cannons too so ya know.

Why do I find that Brutes against the Covenant thing unlikely?

I dunno, I'm just saying they are like rebel brutes or something.

That's highly unlikely. They're overly zealous. Heck, they didn't believe that Halo was a weapon, even though Guilty Spark (or to them, "Oracle") told them that.

As for MP, no, I prefer to have Spartans and Elites only.

Why so?

  • 09.04.2009 3:59 PM PDT

im good for everything but Firefight..only because we fight brutes in Firefight so why would Brutes (us) be fighting Brutes (the A.I.)..it wouldnt look right

That depends on whether we play as ODSTs or If we get to use our own playermodel.

In Halo Reach who knows who we could fight in Firefight? Elites? Flood? Brutes? Maybe a choice? Either way, perhaps for Firefight then, you play as the Campaign characters instead of having selection. That way it works out fine. (If there is a Covenant Campaign, than any Firefight levels themed after the Covenant's levels would be played as the Covenant Characters. Put simply.)

Hello! If you have a problem with me, please PM for more details. I'm against Brutes, water maps and Pelicans. Other than that, please check out my recent posts to see me agreeing with other people.

Why make brutes the same size? Why not just give each race their own properties?

I wish brutes would be in multiplayer and that they would give all three races different properties. Such as:

Spartans - Strong shields, low health, medium melee

Elites - Medium shields, medium health, medium melee

Brutes - No shields, strong health, strong melee

This would add a new dynamic to the game and make different weapons much more useful for different situations and against different enemies.

I don't EXACTLY agree with this..

But if it did happen, I would want the Brute to have sheilds AT LEAST. I mean once someone picks ob a BR, They're dead.

If they were going to make a change like this, you would need to throw out everything you think you know about weapons and damage and start from scratch.

For example, not saying how it would have to be:

BR's would do little damage to spartans shields, 4-5 shots to take off and 1 headshot to kill.
BR's would take 3-4 shots to take Elites shields off, and 2 headshots to kill.
BR's would take 4 headshots to take down an Brute

PR would take down a Spartans shield in 3-4 hits and kill in 4-5 more hits
PR would take down an elites shield in 2-3 hits and kill them in 5-6 hits
PR would kill a Brute in 9-10 shots

So there would be a balance, just everything would not be equal. If most people are playing brutes, it would be best to have a BR handy. Running into lots of Spartans? Better have some plasma weapon available or you will spend all your time trying to get the shields off. Elites would be a good mix.

No more one weapon end alls for any situation. In team doubles, play as a Brute and Spartan and make sure one player has a hard time taking both of you out.

It is BALANCE, without EQUALITY. Make sense?

But a Spartan and Elite can survive more than one battle. The brute may win the battle, but will lose the next due to massively reduced health. The Elites and Spartans will recharge their shields and be able to have a fair fight for the next battle.

So you see, I'm saying Brutes will be too easy to kill with your ideas. I'm trying to help you. I won't mind them if they are balanced, but unless Bungie makes them balanced by massively reducing their health, and integrating shields, that won't happen. And I can't see Bungie changing a character that is probably not going to be in MP anyway.

The End

‘The conscious is cancerous if allowed to linger’

"Even if you're on the right track, you'll get run over if you just sit there."

I honestly don't see why people care about their player model. I care about game mechanics, vehicles, weapons, gametypes, maps, story etc. because they effect my experience. Playing as a brute, elite, spartan whatever is just cosmetic, it does nothing for the game except give you a different looking thing to shoot at; in first person you can hardly tell the difference.

When the players models are based off completely different things is where the whole thing becomes a little mad for me, unfair hitboxes, hidden heads, long necks that can't be shot etc. All could be avoided with balance (everyone the same). It's a bit of fun and the elite class is just about acceptable but more isn't necessarily better. I'm happy with the current classes of model we have already.

sounds good and wel thought out

For some reason I thought that Firebomb nades were UNSC. But maybe I was wrong. I couldn't figure whether they were Brute or UNSC so I went with UNSC.

They are just cosmetic, so it wouldn't matter. Also Elites should be more hunched up to solve the 'invisible head problem'
