Well, it would logically have something to do with time.

Chrono, from the Greek Khronos means Time. When you add the prefix "A" you get the literal meaning "No Time".

Or is it "Not on Time"? :-)

You're all wrong. Here is the definition for Achronos.

Achronos - n. - a man in a gorilla suit who takes the role as a webmaster for bungie.net.
Ex: Achronos just thrashed the server room.

The webmaster and Achronos are different people, my friend.

Perhaps. I do know, and don't even try to question me on this one, Nos, that his personality mixes on weekends.

Wasn't Kronos a titan? But ah yeah. due to spelling issues, i guess you're more accurate with the time thing.

Chronos, Kronos, or Cronos (however you want to spell it) was, as greek mythology goes, the the Ruler of the Titans, as well as the one that fathered all of the olympian God's that eventually overthrew him. See, an oracle told him one of his kids (Zuse) would overthrow him, so he ate all of his kids when they were born.

However instead of eating Zuse his wife got him to eat a rock instead. When Zuse got older, he overthrough Chronos and made him vomit out all of his brothers and sisters (Hades, Hera, Posiden, those guys). There was a huge battle and even a Titan so big (not Chronos someone else) that he stacked two mountains on top of each other to get to Olympus and kill the Gods, but Zuse killed him with thunderbolts. Then, just like Chronos had been the Big Cheese of the Titans, Zuse became the Head of the Gods.

As far as the A part, I have no clue. I am pretty sure it isn't a word but the timeless thing would be a good guess as fare the greek root and the prefix. And any mythology buff feel free to correct me, it has been awhile :)

Well, I beleive this should be in the flood section, but who cares anyways. I think he didnt have secret meaning behind his name other than it sounded cool.

Maybe it has to do with time, maybe it has to do with the Titians, or maybe it just sounded cool so he used it. Anyway i googled his name and found his Blog for anyone who cares.

p.s.
oh and there was a science fiction mag. back in the 1980's called Achronos.

I'm pretty sure that Achronos' bio on the Halo 2 LE disk says that "Achronos" "doesn't really mean anything".

But I'd wager that's just a ploy to stop people making threads like this.

Oh the irony!

-P.S. I found his blog a while back. I don't think it has the meaning of his name though, perhaps because he doesn't want anything Bungie related in his blog.

And yes, i think it's a flood thing personally.
