Eh, I was all psyched for ODST but after seeing that trailer all I can think of now is "why can't bungie make a game like that."
Now I'm not saying "why can't bungie make a game that looks the same as reality," but why can't bungie tell a very personal story about the human experience in a post apocalyptic alien wasteland in a way that is actually believable. The gung-ho men we have with the upcoming game are fine, but at least from what I've seen they failed to convey the emotion and setting, even when granted a lot of dialogue and a expansive city, that a 1:30 commercial pulled off without an intelligble word or recognizable backdrop.
It was the same as with the Believe campaign and Halo 3. A plastic diarama and a few reaction shots told a better a, more human, story than multi-million dollar interactive entertainment with 3 years of dev. time. Granted, the gap between ODST and it's publicity is not as great as Halo 3's casm, but it is still there, with the arcade antics of super space marines superceding believable human reactions to a horror that the environment and plot fail to match.
Though here's hoping that 9-22 proves me completely wrong.
