You can't kill what's dead.

Stand. Fight. Resist. S2F.

If the feature is popular and works in a previous game, why not expand upon it and add it to another game?

Adding a common shooter element to a game does not make the game CoD or Gears or Battlefield, or whatever.

i think we should get maybe the amount of exp as u got kills or half the exp as u did get kills. Not a lot of exp like in CoD.

IMO a new experience system would be nice to see in Halo:Reach because reaching for your desired rank in Halo 3 is quite a slow process (of course depending on that what rank are you aiming for). Of course the rank doesnt prove anything else that you've played the game very long but its still nice to have.

Halo:Reach also shouldnt have so much ranks as you can have in CoD if you ask me...

Thats a good point really. I wouldnt mind small changes at all. But I guess people really want to be careful about what there is going to be in the game so it doesnt look like an obvious copy of something else.

Hey lady, we're ready for your DVDA shot!!

yeah i don't want classes in a halo game

  • 09.07.2009 11:16 PM PDT

Zak Rockwell

how do you find out who has the most exp in Halo 3??

  • 09.07.2009 11:18 PM PDT

Why don't threads like these just stop? You do realize that Bungie isn't dumb enough to completely screw over loyal fans right? I could honestly care less what type of game it will be I trust Bungie will make an enjoyable game.

And lets say they did make it Class based.... I would bet they would also have classic playlists as well. Either way why don't you just wait and see.

I honestly think I see more threads complaining that this game isn't going to be class based than people actually saying it's going to be class based.

One thing is for sure what it is... Is what it is. And we will just have to wait and see. But until then we should try to talk about other things rather than spamming the forums with threads that harass the ideas of class based Halo.

I don't think Bungie should overhaul the whole MM by picking and choosing from other games but they should incorporate features from their own universe, for example the vision modes from ODST, and the rocket hog from way-back when

Although I wouldn't mind seeing some camouflage patters show up in the Halo universe

(This just came to mind: In MM elites can use cloak for a limited time, while Spartans could use VISR modes to defeat the cloak for a limited time, hows that for balance)

if halo:reach is going to be a class based game i would expect it to be way different from other class based games.
1. the multiplayer settings would allow you to pick a certain sparten(each one has something better or worse compared to the other like, some run faster then others and some are better at aiming)
2. everyone starts with the same weapons but weapons are scattered across the map(some are better with certain sparten's)
3. there can only have certain amounts of a type of sparten by map(open maps can only have one sniper and small maps cant have many fast runners)
4. "class" is chosen randomly at start of round unless if the game type allows it
5. read halo:first strike if you want to understand more about each sparten

I agree. I'm getting tired at all the kidz who wants classes, perks, a helicopter that shows up when you get a kill-streak, and so on.

"oMg i WaNtZ cLaSsEz n PeRkS n -blam!- THAT WOULD BE AWWEZOME!"

I agree, I hate getting spawn killed by choppers and airstrikes in CoD. If Halo had perks, we'd be seeing millions of juggernoobs like CoD 4 and 5.

Juggernaut's designed so that it takes one more bullet to kill someone--L2Stopping Power.

Honestly, to all these close minded people in this forum who despise the idea of class based gameplay, if in the unlikely even that it winds up a class based shooter I'll feel sorry for you. Meanwhile, I'll be enjoying it. And if it isn't class based, I'll still be enjoying it; win win situation for keeping an open mind and understanding that as long as Bungie is working on it, it will probably be fun no matter what type of game it is.

Reach MMO. Here's to hoping.

And the people that believe "the hardcore playlists would be more popular if the rules were strictly MLG" can come off it, now. If you're not willing to support something close to your own setup, there's no reason for us to believe that cloning our own lists and stripping the variety down will attract more people. -- Shishka, Bungie.net

There should not be any Classes (EDIT: Sorry, somebody made me point out that COD did not invent classes), Perks, Armor Advantages, EXP Ranking system, or Squads. I understand you guys want Halo: Reach to be different, but turning it into COD is not helping anything. Nothing is wrong with Halo 3 besides the Tru-Skill system which promotes cheating and boosting. But gameplay wise Halo 3 is fine and STILL has the most players.

Lucky

You are right, Halo 3 is great how it is. Now let's have Bungie give us a completely new game, that is nothing like Halo 3 since it is already great!

We all know that Halo is basically Quake, which is basically Perfect Dark, which is basically GoldenEye, which is basically Doom, which is basically Wolfenstein 3D.

I agree.
But Halo wasn't the first Run and Gun FPS game ever created in History.

What is this, a thread about no squads, and classes, clans, and an easy understandable ranking system being CALL OF DOODY???!!!
MY FASCE!
Look, Halo needs a nice easy EXP system, I lose track of trueskill, and the Win/Loss system just makes you not want to play for any rank or anything.
I like Halo BTB and so on, BUT why is it so confuzzling to rank up?
I am no CoD multiplayer myself (naz1 zombies FTW!) but from the few times I have played I have actually been able to get ranks through personal performance in a team game.

Classes, I am fine with as long as it has its own playlist and the starting weapons are toned down. That way people will still hunt down power weapons but be able to fight with their style of play from the start.

Squads, they just make it nicer for when you're playing with your friends, you know where they are, you can keep track of their deaths better, and you can generally coodinate attacks better. I think is just a better way of showing your in their party, although the coloured ties are useful in the game lobby, they have no way of viewing in the match itself.

Clans, I'm not fussed, we get service tags, they're practically the same, I am fine with whatever on this subject, I like the sound of four letter/digits on ODST though...

Basically, as long as Bungie use any of these concepts but improve, or use them in a good way then I am totally fine. What I don't like seeing is people like you basically saying.
H@1o 0f Do0dy is bad ide@. N0 cl@55es or e@sy ranking syst3m.
I just feel that because these ideas work, why should they not be implemented?
Its still Halo, it still takes two minutes to kill someone, you can still jump 20 feet into the air. So no, I disagree with you. I think that a better game takes ideas which work well. Ideas which are totally unique, always have a chance of failing, thats why we have a BETA, if their plans, whatever they are fail, they can change them.

By classes I DO NOT mean perks etc.
I mean just a different spawning gun

Halo shouldn´t have classes because Halo is all about weapon placement it would be a different game, not Halo.

And i also think Call of Duty isn´t realistic.
it´s a average arcade Shooter not the best -blam!- game ever.

My view is classes should only change your spawning weapon.
To a toned down weapon of the one you want.
Making weapon control still the main focus.

  • 09.08.2009 11:29 AM PDT

I´d bet a billion bucks that there will be no classes in any wise

I know,
I just am thinking what the only situation of classes I would want to see is.
I prefer the game without classes. But I know that many people would prefer to spawn with a shotgun, say, this completely destroys weapon control tactics, meaning spawning weapons would obviously have to be toned down.

I like Halo the way it is but I would except something new as long as it was unique to shooters in general and not just new to Halo. The thing that pisses me off is all the idiots asking for classes ripped from Battlefield. There are so many weapons and species in the Halo universe for generic classes. Bungie could do something new with the class system if they felt classes as being necessary.

Exp ranking system or something like it could be ok. Everything else I want kept out of my Hayloz.

Halo is not a game about realism
Posted by: paublo 117
some people want it to be a little more realistic.

  • 09.08.2009 12:32 PM PDT

Agreed. If people wanted realistic, get ODST it's as realistic in the Halo Universe as it will get. If you want it in the other Halo's then you're an idiot, the time setting is 2552, things are supposed to be different.

Xbox Live Gamertag: RogueWolf I77V (Halo 2, Halo 3)
Xbox Connect Gamertag: RogueWolf_I77V (Halo, Halo 2)
Xfire Gamertag: roguewolfi77v (Halo PC)

Now what could be cool is a Call of Duty or Battlefield style game based on the forming of the UNSC or about outer rogue colonies unaffiliated with the UNSC fighting for territories.

"The enemy of my enemy is my friend"
-whoever the heck made it up

ok look people just because we want bungie to add stuff in halo reach doesnt mean we are turning it into call of duty ok...... the things is that we want reach to have a few more features, especially since it is going to be the last halo game, because i dont know if you notice, but every halo game(exeapt for Halo Wars) is like almost identicle... and we just want a little different... So stop it with this "they are turning it in to CoD" and " stop making Halo something it's not " BULL....... it's still going to be first person shooter, your still in the Halo Universe, and your prabobly still playing as a spartan so just stop it please!!!!!!!!!!!!!
