After multiple installations and tons of searching through forums with multiple trouble shooting techniques the problem persists. Once I try to start it up i receive an error message that says live gaming on windows failed because another live gaming on windows app like halo 2 dedicated server is running on the same machine. Well nothing else is running and even after trying to install new and old versions of live gaming for windows the problem still persists. If anyone can help please provide some assistance. Thanks

Yes, I am a hypocrite, and I'm sorry. I really do mean well, but I'm not running on all cylinders.

Everytime someone buys a copy of Halo 2 Vista, a puppy dies.

Sounds like you've tried everything possible aside from an OS re-install. I know it's probably hopeless, but you could phone GFWL support at 1-877-274-4349.

Thanks I gave them a call and what do you know they were no help and some how never heard of that issue. Then when I mentioned I was using windows 7 rtm they instantly said they could no longer provide tech support cause it is not currently supported at games for windows live so essentially they said call back in October.... ugh well I did more searching and might have found my own solution will update it if I figure out the issue.

This is the average H2 Fanboy.

50 in H2/H3? Great, but you still fail at this.

Oh, you are having win7 issues. Right click the program, and click properties. Go to compatability and change it to "Windows Vista" . Then it should work.

So far nothing has worked. even when I type in the error message word for word and find what other people have done and perform those specific instructions I still get the same message. Everyone says that you need the old windows live version to run it which is all I have since it is the one that installed from the disk. Also tried it with the updated 3.0 version and still nothing. Might try a hand a Microsoft customer service instead of games for windows live since they were no help.... Ugh all I want to do is play some halo on my new computer.
