So I realised this a while back but I only just recently started to wonder, Bungie do you or one of the Halo creator have some weird Africa Fetish?? Because Zanzibar (Locally known as Zanzibaby) Is the name of an actual place in Africa (East Africa?), Killamanjaro, aside from getting 7 or more consecutive kills spanning no more than 6 seconds between kills, Is actually the Highest mountain in Africa. (East Africa?) Im sure if I looked I could find other references. Is there references to a lot of stuff like this or is it something about Africa?

Just wondering.

I'm certifiable.

To drag it back out of New Mombasa for a moment, I think that Halo 2 is the only game that dealt with Africa.

Halo didn't have any terrestrial locations.
Oni was set in Asia, wasn't it?
Myth didn't have any terrestrial locations.
None of the Marathons had a terrestrial location.
Pathways into Darkness was set in Central America.
ODS was set in southwestern Asia. (aka "the Middle East")
Gnop didn't have any terrestrial locations.

So if we're going to ask about anything, maybe it's why Bungie uses non-terrestrial locations so much; in which case, I'd say that it's that you have more creative control over fantasy and SF titles set in separate worlds than those set in the real world. (Though, if well done, you can get some cool storylines by stealing from past settings and their mythologies.)

However, it does seem likely that when lurking in the seas pirating and pimping, a ship would make berth in a nearby dock to unload any acquired booty for sakekeeping. Also, any port in a storm could force a ship into the shores of Africa, so there is a chance of a tie with Africa.
