actually two disks isnt always expensive, a recent RPG named Lost Oddissey was at a standard retail price for us brits, and that had four disks i think (correct me if im wrong) although that price is going up if Modern Warfare 2 sells enough, so Halo Reach will probably be bumbed up along with every other game next year. however, you raise a good point with the multiplayer, most people do play multiplayer, but with two disks, one for multiplayer and another for campaign includind co-op and possibly firefight v2 would mean that more people would go straight to the multiplayer disk.

Was it? I can't remember. I was thinking back to the original Metal Gear Solid game from PS1. That was considerably more expensive than other games.

Lost Oddysee was the same price? Hmm interesting. How much is it now, in English money?

Lost Odyssey is now around £15, so it's depriced at the same rate as most one disc games.

More directly on topic: I would love for Halo: Reach to be two disc, if that's what is required to fit all the content in.

Edit: 'English money' is 'pounds' / 'pound sterling' :P

There is potential, but you need to think a bit logically here. They need to come up with all that story, considering Reach may already have a storyline set up, it would be possible suicide to the fans and stupidity to change the story. The story can start where ever it needs to but when the time comes, it has to end at a particular spot because this one doesn't have the happy ending where everyone lives. It would be nice having two discs for a fuller campaign but if they decide they can't make it that long then I will be happy anyways.

Hello! I'm a male!

Halo: Reach should have these to sum up all other halo game types:
1) Campaign
2) match Making
3) Custom Games
4) Firefight
5) Forge
6) Theater mode

Make it as epic as they can ..... remake all the different halo maps from Halo: CE - halo 3 for MM/Customs/Forge and they'd pawnzors all other halos

I approve of multiple disks.

There's no need to change discs, you could install the MP disc and put in your Campaign disc. The only reason why we have to insert discs after we copied a game to our HDD is to prove that we really own the game. There is no data transfer between disc and HDD. So Bungie could just enable us to play the installed MP by inserting the Campaign disc.

I completely approve of 2 discs!

Bungie could do what Forza Motorsport 3 is currently doing. Disc one includes the main game(with all the features Campaign, firefight, mutiplayer, forge, ect) while disc 2 contain extra content ( multiplayer maps) which would work as a "installation disc".Only problem with this is that it be unfair with people with hard drives but to get the most out of halo you need one anyway.

I approve of 2 disks.

If you ever notice that when you load up H3 and go directly to a playlist which requires a mappack you will notice that it says that you do not have them. Then after a few seconds you will be ok.

Well something similar to this happens everytime you start a game or when the host quits; everyone is required to read the map before it can begin. With 2 disks, one specifically meant for multiplayer, these load times would be reduced along with a bit of the lag (still mostly depends upon connection to the host).

Personally i dont mind getting of my couch and switching disks if i want to change between campaign and multiplayer vise-versa.

When with other people the load time on campaign maps sometimes can be a few minutes. Anything that could be done to reduce that (saving on harddrive) would be appreciated.

ISU Cyclones!

I like the angle that ODST is taking with multiplayer/map editing on one disk with campaign/co-op modes on another.

I want Reach to have a long epic campaign and if two disks helps to make that happen then I'd say go for it.

Do you understand what I am saying or do I need to spell it out for you?

The companies will charge higher money for two disks because it would take more time to produce. More time costs more money. They need to make profit to pay all their employees. By hiring more people that costs money, but reduces the time it takes to develop the game. They have to pay all the people doing voiceovers, the directors, microsoft to let the game be played on the Xbox, the list is endless.

ahhh... there we go, now i agree with you. I don't think the extra disk itself would drive up price, but extra production value could. Though in the end I think they would rather match the current price point in the industry.

EDIT: oh and I wouldn't mind two disks if it produced a superior product

I hope Bungie really pushes the limits of their abilities (and the Xbox 360's) with Halo: Reach, and I'm not sure we'll be able to realise the full potential of that on a single disk.

It is rather clear that Halo 3's campaign had to be shortened due to the inclusion of Forge and Theater into the mix, and with Halo 3: ODST, Bungie realised that it was necessary for two discs: one for open world campaign and Firefight, and another for the now dozens of multiplayer maps, as well as Forge and Theater for all of them.

There was some very strong evidence a couple of weeks ago (I can't remember exactly where) that Halo: Reach will have a Firefight mode: I think someone had asked a Bungie employee at the ODST truck and the employee said that it would. I hope that the addition of Firefight will not be at the expense of a long campaign and plenty of multiplayer goodness.

The advantages of two disks far outweigh the disadvantages of having to change disks to play a different part of the game; in fact, if Bungie makes the game flawless to save to your 360, then it will hardly be an issue at all.

What do you think?

You do know there were no Bungie Employees there at The ODST truck right? They're a company that works for Microsoft's marketing department. (well that's what it was like when i was there.)

But i do hope they use two disks, it'd put a big oh smile on my face!!!

Every time you sneeze into an open Febreze portal the boner-tree drive shaft will spin into ketchup. But it doesn't stop at the number two pizza bell, not even close. It continues into the seventy eight minute long pile of green, sobbing cheese trains with no more butter, but more like the steak owed the tin cans some lovin'.

2 disks also help this game because in Halo 3 when u play MM it is mostly laggy and hard to find games because the campaign takes up alot of use, even when u are not even playing it :)
*dies*

Well if two disks are necessary for a great game then bring it on!

  • 09.08.2009 9:17 AM PDT

Just enjoy the damn game!
Who cares about BR vs AR

Even though it may seem I am against multi-disk, I am not.

I would love to see Reach hit its potential by having more than one disk, but am just warning you all it will be more expensive.

2 disks would be fine as long as the game is awesome. Campaign needs to be a lot longer this time around. Plus getting off of our lazy butts to change disks isn't that hard to do lol

if its a good story and good multiplayer, im all for it. even with a possible increase in price

Formerly known as HunTERminator

H3 campaign wasn't shortened by the inclusion of other features. It was about that long becuase of the timeframe needed to develop.
ODST is not on two disks either. The entirety of H3 multiplayer is on that second disk.

Think of ODST not having forge and being roughly as long as H3. I imagine there is plenty of roomleft over on that disk.

The thing that went wrong with the Halo 3 campaign is that Bungie tried to make it too epic. They have at least 4 massive levels, with vehicles playing a part, to try and please the vehicle fans. By doing that, they had to lose the amount of levels due to disk space.

If they hadn't focused on making bigger levels, they could have made more.

(Tsavo Highway, The Covenant, The Ark and Halo are the massive ones by the way)

2 discs is a fine idea.

Two discs would be fine.

The main thing I want is for Bungie to delay it if they feel they need to.

100% agreed. As long as it's good I can wait until 2011.

In the days of old, there were legends of a land long lost to time. This land was known as Ranna'Mor. Ranna'Mor was said to contain in its borders 7 warriors. These warriors had once unleashed a veritable hell upon the ancient world, until they were locked away. My name is Toriad, and I am one of those warriors. Our return is approaching. Do not run away, do not cower in fear; take solace in your final days, for that is all we can do. -Legend of Ranna'Mor

While I would prefer one disc, two discs does sound like it would work out better.
