I'm xAssault12x, and I love the Halo Universe. Discussion please!

This is a little thin, but with all the other talk about Halo 3 maps and their possible signifigance to upcoming games or myster locations. I got to looking at snowbound and noticed some similarities between the view you see when you look out over the giant snow plains and the begining of the Halo each trailer.

Here is the best pic I could find of the view from Snowbound. Ignore the random dude and look very very closely at the planets.

Now look at this frame from the Halo Reach trailer.
http://img401.imageshack.us/img401/6641/planetnearreach.jpg

Is it just me or do the two sets of planets look alike. In one you are looking at the planets from behind Reach, and on the view from snowbound it looks as if you are on the planet with the rings looking at the large moon and at Reach. Now the two pictures are from different points of time in the Halo Universe so we must factor that in. The picture from the Halo Reach trailer is from before Reach was glassed, and the picture from snowblind is from after Reach was glassed by the Covenant. Now look at the pictures again.

The planets are arranged the same way and they have similar dimentions in both pictures. The view from Snowbound would have to be on a part of the planet where you couldn't see the planets rings but you were able to see Reach, the moon, and the sun. I don't think it is that much of a stretch to assume that when you look at the planets in the sky on Snowbound that the large planet on the left is Reach after it was glassed by the Covenant and became a desert planet.

After all Reach was not completely glassed by the Covenant so the atmosphere could have reamained on the planet instead of boiling off, but since almost the entire surface had been glassed the planet turned into a giant desert planet. This is very plausible.

If Reach became a desert planet, and Snowbound is in fact in the same system as Reach then we can conclude that there is a buried Forerunner Construct on the planet with the rings. The description of snowbound is as follows; Hostile conditions did not prevent the Covenant from seeking salvage on this buried Forerunner construct.

This helps some of the theories about Sandtrap and Epitaph being located on Reach. Even though no other Forerunner artifacts were not found on Reach by the UNSC it wouldn't be that big of a stretch to assume that they missed something. After all, it wouldn't be the first time that the UNSC was sitting on some Forerunner artifact and didn't even know it.

I think that the two pictures are very interesting and deserve some attention. I might be wrong, but I could also be right. What do you think?

Just enjoy the damn game!
Who cares about BR vs AR

I think you are continously coming out with good ideas. Not sure about this one though. Many planets have rings, but it could be possible. Not sure if Bungie planned it though.

My new B.net account is Grizzled Ancient. If you see him, its me.

well it depends on how you look at it. from the picture ON snowbound, it looks like the other planets are reletivley equal in size. so tht leaves snowbound to be the smaller on in the picture of Reach. but to be honest. the smaller one just looks like a large moon.

I was thinking that....who knows it does look at lot like it. If it were it would just be a spark for our imaginations. So dont think too much of it.

I'm not thinking too much into it because then I would be no different then the people who claim the Legendary planet is Reach. All I have is a picture and an interesting theory. I know all I have is a picture and some guesses.

Perhaps.

I would have never noticed this though...

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

But what about the massive moon in between reach and the ringed planet?

The massive moon is on the right in the picture from snowbound.

war never determines who is right, only who is left

this is a very interesting theory, whereas i do agree that the larger planet could well be reach. i have to admit it isnt likely. well noticed, this guy deserves a cookie. a big one with smarties inside

Glassing the planet wouldn't cause it to change to red. Deserts aren't inherently red. In fact, they are more of a brown color. I think that, based on the description of Sanghelios as a red planet with two moons, Snowbound appears to be on one of its moons.

The description of snowbound is as follows; Hostile conditions did not prevent the Covenant from seeking salvage on this buried Forerunner construct.

Hostile conditions = Snow, Ice, and Cold.
Salvage means they dug it up. In order to have time to dig it up before Halo 3, which occurs only a couple months after the FoR, Snowbound would have to be located closer to Covie space.

Epitaph is almost 2000 feet tall. Hard to miss. In fact, according to Bungie, Citadel (one of the new ODST maps) is part of the same structure on the Ark as Epitaph. Epitaph cannot be on Reach. Sandtrap and Sandbox are also on the Ark. This is evidenced by the crashed Albatross on Sandtrap having a description of crashing during the battle of the Ark and Sandbox's description as having the same setting. They are also fairly close to one of the campaign levels from Halo 3 that is on the Ark.

I think it's possible. Look at the planet to the far upper left, orange in color. Now look at the banner above, the planet it orange in color. I would like to think that I'm looking up at Reach everytime I play on snowbound. It gives that rather crappy map some meaning.

Looking up at the Elite homeworld, Sanghelios, makes more sense - and it gives the map meaning. Also, the banner is not colored properly - you can tell because the ocean is the same color as the landmasses.

As for Sandtrap, sandbox and Epithath being on Reach, I personally doubt it. How could the UNSC miss the huge tower that is Epitath?

Bungie has already said that all three of those maps are on the Ark.

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

Yeah, it is a possibility, though the chances of 2 planets that close together that can both support life are very unlikely.

Sandbox is not on the Ark, only Epitaph and Santrap are (Ever notice the big planet with the rings in the sky on Sandbox? How about the NOT ARTIFICIAL SUN.)

One thing that always got me about Snowbound, the Covenant built their own 2 bases right on top of a big forerunner construct, but how did they manage to connect it to the ice cave? The only way they could have done that is if they made the Ice cave themselves, but even then...?

Who says the Covies built the bases? Perhaps they were built by the Forerunner. All Covie tech is repurposed Forerunner tech anyway.

Yea it is repurposed but Forerunner architecture and Covenant architecture are completely different. The Covenant have their own style that is unique and they use metal that is a different color from Forerunner metal. All Forerunner tech or structures we have seen are a shade of grey in color. Covenant structures are allways a shade of purple. The bases are Covenant.
