If the Pelican even scratches the ground without landing properly, trying to get a splatter, it will damage the hull and the ship will crash.

this.

No, because people will use it to get splatters instead of transport. Even by doing transport, the game would be ruined: Too many people moving at once. Also, how can you even hijack it?

you clearly did not read the entire discussion we just had about splattering, did you?

Big Team Battle Multiflag/Slayer on Standoff/Valhalla/Sandtrap/Avalanche = Win

Well its simple, you hold RB when its going at 200 miles an hour and then you climb into its cargo seat, kill the turret man, walk in, pick lock the door to the pilot, then break his neck.

Tell me OP, have you ever had a friend spawn a scorpion tank in forge and try to swing it around as the monitor in a attempt to splatter you while you were running around as a human?

It would be like that, except that the flying wall of metal also has guns. Would be the easiest splatter spree ever.

In other words, it would be broken for multiplayer. Campaign? Sure. Multiplayer? No thanks.

heres were u fail a pelican doesn't have a boost if you some how don't see the pelican coming towards you and it splatters you somehow you deserved it its not the easiest splatter spree ever thats BS it would be so easy to jump out of the way

Right... you try jumping over a pelican during campaign. Tell me how that goes.

It doesn't matter if it has a boost or not. It is a huge vehicle. It doesn't need to move very fast build up enough momentum to kill a man. It doesn't matter if you think that it will be easy to splatter or not, there are people who will take it and turn it into a deadly machine of death. Its like a prowler, but bigger. That thing is huge, and you can splatter after about a second's startup. You can catch so many people off guard because the vehicle is heavy.

Pelican isn't manueverable, and therefore can't splatter? The banshee isn't very manuverable either when it is boosting along, and it does a fine job, with only a little correction it can completely slaughter people.

Perhaps some of you guys simply haven't played with people good enough at dishing out vehicular manslaughter.

Time to add a new aspect to the arguement (which is more of a contradiction to be honest), why do you need a vehicle that can carry your entire team in default matchmaking?

1 nobody said anything about jumping over the damn pelican, learn to read.

2 nobody said that it cant splatter people, just that its not as easy as people make it seem.

3 again, nobody said it is incapable of splattering, but the fact that it isnt maneuverable makes it a great deal more dificult. the reason a banshee is so easy to splatter with is because (unless you are a total retard) you get close enough that they cant do anything, then boost into them. try boosting from across the map and see how well that works for ya.

4 this point has nothing to do with the discussion.

5 if the pelican is, like every other vehicle, destructable, then a pelican loaded with 8 spartans makes for a pretty damn satisfying kill, wouldnt you say?

Even if its Multiplayer, it has to be at least a bit realistic. And im pretty sure the pelican can take a few spartan laser hits. Its a transport aircraft so it has to be build tough. And even then, it crashes alot. Imagine how open the maps would have to be just for a pelican to be effective. Even in SandTrap the Pelican will have difficulties.

There are so many flaws to a pelican in matchmaking that im not going to bother typing them all at 11:30 at night. Yes to Campaign, BLAM NO for Matchmaking.

That didn't answer my question. I asked "Why do you need a vehicle that can carry your entire team in default matchmaking?" The logical answer shouldn't be "So my entire team can die at once when we get shot down."

Strategically, why would you use a pelican when you could use a hornet? Instead and divide and conquer? An attack that only comes from one predictable direction is doomed to fail. So why provide a vehicle that promotes poor decision making?

Do realize, I'm not against a pelican for custom games or forge, but I am against it in default matchmaking. Putting cool-looking powerful vehicles for the sake of having cool-looking powerful vehicles in matchmaking is what got us the Gauss Hog on Standoff Heavy. Forgive me if I don't want something like that to happen again.

i wasnt saying that you should have a pelican simply for having your whole team killed, just making a point that its not something to really complain about. see if you have a pelican coming, it would generally be a good idea for you and your team to make that your prime target and take it out ASAP

as for strategy, the pelican wouldnt have to be strictly a transport vehicle, it should also be able to pick up and deliver warthogs, mongooses (mongeese?) and things of that nature too

and i agree with you on the point that it shouldnt be included in matchmaking, due to the fact that there are too many idiots there
