Subject: My Two Biggest "Wants."

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

Let's admit it. Halo 3 was not the best looking game ever. One of my biggest "wants" for Reach is a new graphics engine. Something that would put every game out there to shame. I'm comfident that Bungie could do something like this. The other thing that I really, really, really want is a grittier game. I'm aware that Halo is known for being rather "kid-friendly" for an M rated title. I want to see a bit more blood, a bit more gore, and just a darker feeling. I think Halo is a rather strange game, because Humanity is fighting for their very survival and everything is chipper as hell I can remember only three times in the Halo series where I was saddened by the story and those wer in order 1) Miranda Keye's death 2) Finding Cortana and 3) Johnson's death.
I would like to know what you guys think about this, and what you want out of Reach.

the only Halo game that maked me get REALLY sad was Halo 2. The sad moments where.

When the Chief seems to die at the end of Regret
When the Arbiter is betrayled and many Elites die :' (
When the Chief have to leave Cortana.

To me the saddest moment was the betrayal to the Elites : (
(I prefer the Arbiter campaign, is more fun and more intense)

The Arbiter in Halo 2 participated in some of the largest battles in any game in the Halo trilogy, most specifically during Quarantine Zone. If I remember, in that level alone you fought against 3-4 scorpions, something like 12 wraiths, MANY MANY ghosts, a couple of hogs (1 was a gauss), LOTS and LOTS of Flood, lots of which had Rocket Launchers, and more Sentinels than you can count (Including one with a Needler instead of a Sentinel Beam). There were also the 20+ Enforcer Sentinels...

It was fun!

By the time Reach comes out, other games will have come with better graphics than what we have now, for Bungie to try and top off game after game would be pointless. Changing the amount of gore in Halo would change the feel for it, they are some nice ideas but they just wouldn't work out in my opinion.

  • 09.08.2009 1:13 PM PDT

I agree with both matters.

  • 09.08.2009 1:23 PM PDT

Um... I like Halo? I don't really know what to say. I'm a student at the moment, I hope to become a criminal profiler, and I enjoy pretty much everything as long as it's good.

Crap! I guess I just keep forgetting those emotional moments in Halo. if I forgot any just tell me becuase well i's been a while wince I played the Halo trilogy. I promis i will finish by the time ODST comes out so everything is fresh in my mind.

Or in 343 Guilty Spark when we witnessed the death of nearly an entire squad of Marines at the hands of the Flood, all to the dark, emotional song Lament for Pvt Jenkins.
Man, did Jenkins suffer throughout that whole war, to the end of his life. I feel bad for that guy.

I hope for better graphics, but I dunno if the Xbox 360 can do much better. I have yet to see an Xbox 360 game do graphics that I could honestly say were absolutely better than Halo 3's. But, then, I don't play a lot of newer games.

I did just see someone play Batman: Arkham Asylum a few days ago. That didn't look that much better than Halo 3 to me.

Who gives a -blam!- about graphics? Gameplay FTW!

Games nowadays can be amazing, but if the graphics department is lacking then the game will nvariably be considered a lot worse. And can you honestly say that you would not want a Halo game where most things are photo-realistic and the graphics are some of the best in the business?

I don't care about what others think about a game. Excessively good graphics would take away from the overall gameplay development and the game may end up being worse than it could have been. I would rather play a good game then a good looking one. Anyone who says graphics over gameplay is a mindless fool, no exceptions.

I never said that. I will take gameplay over graphics any day. However graphics are still an extremely important part of games. Anyone who says they aren't is an ignorant dolt.

I was only sad at the death of Captain Keyes in Halo CE, NOT Miranda, the death of Foehammer, in Halo 1 also, and the death of Johnson. I laughed when Miranda Keyes died, I hated her.

Dude I couldn't have said that any better, I thought she was a bossy little -BLAM- that tried to control every thing and when she turned her gun on Johnsen I prayed to god that she would be stopped

Dude she was trying to stop the firing of the Halos. At any costs, even the death of Johnson. It was emotional seeing her drive and just how dedicated she was. I think you guys are just not seeing past some of her -blam!-iness.

How to spell "space"?

S-P-ACE! SPACE!

Yeah, the game caters far too much to 4th graders.
It also needs more music.

  • 09.09.2009 10:48 PM PDT

get out of here stalker

Realism is good but as long as it doesn't go down the gritty alley. In dark, gritty realistic games, the only colors are brown, grey, and too dark to be seen.

Are you an idiot, Johnson TOLD her to kill him. HE knew it was the ONLY way to stop the rings from being activated, he had to kill both himself AND her.
