I don't know why everyone freaks out when someone mentions classes. If Reach turns out to be class based there is going to be a lot more changes than just classes. For example the weapons in Reach may not have fixed crosshairs like they do in the other games or each weapon could have a limited zoom (not necessarily a scope or iron sights but they could have a zoom similar to the SMGs and shotguns in BF: Bad Company. And sure the UNSC classes would probably not seem so different from other class based games but the Covenant faction would be a lot more interesting.
I can see it now.
Spartan II/IIIs + Elites/Brutes= A leader class ala SW:Battlefront II
ODSTs + Jackals=Spec-ops class
Marine Sniper + Jackal Sniper= well... a Sniper class
Marine + Grunts= Standard Infantry class
Combat Engineer + Drone= A support class for vehicles
Marine w/ RL + Hunter= Anti-Armor class
P.S. Didn't Bungie say in an interview that they were done with the MC's story as well as gameplay after they release ODST?
Lol everyone one has dreams, They never said anything about changing the gameplay, they did say something along the lines of being done with the Master Chief story arch, which is true since they haven't made a game featuring him as the main character so far... anyway classes will never happen you guys can keep hoping but you'll be dissappointed.
