Tell me you're being sarcastic.

MA5B is the better choice.

MA5K :) But seriously MA5B

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

The Halo CE assault rifle... failed miserably at everything... It was weak, inaccurate, and had a very short range. At least it sounded decent however...

You really must have sucked at Halo CE. It was a pretty good weapon if you knew how to manually burst a rifle.

Anyway, I think it would be much more suitable as a weapon than Halo 3's, which is too accurate to be the weapon it is. The AR Melee is seriously ridiculous, and I have seen very bad players win whole games with NOTHING but AR spray and prey.

I vote for MA2B. New weapons are always appreciated

The MA2B makes no sense in Reach, nor the MA5K.

The MA2B was an obsolete model by the time Reach fell, used only by Insurrectionists too poor to get good weapons (They were also about as accurate as a monkey throwing his feces)

The MA5K however is the exact opposite, at the time of Reach, this weapon was not in use by Spartan IIs, it was a couple of months later that it was used at the battle for Onyx, and that was only by Spartan IIIs and Kurt.

If we ever see a Halo Onyx, the MA5K is perfectly welcome, and if we ever see a Halo Insurrection, the same would go for the MA2B. But like I said, neither work at the time of Reach.

The only logical choice is the MA5B, as they actually WERE on Reach.

The "feel" of it? My 360 controller has always felt the same to me.

Personally I think the MA5 series fills the role of the Squad automatic weapon, and prefer to us the more reliable BR55. Although I would like to see the MA5K and some of the weapon variations seen in ODST.

I would Imagine the Reach would be a good place to "discover the MA5K as reach housed weapon's development, as the per the Magnums in The Fall of Reach.

What would be cool about ruining the Canon of an amazing Sci-Fi plot? That would be like having the Enterprise in a fight against the Millennium Falcon in an actual episode of Star Trek.

The MA2B wouldn't make much sense, but where does it say that the MA5K is a new weapon? The MA5 series of rifle was around from the start of the war, and variations would have existed as well. The K variant is just cut down and made for close quarters. Think of it as a harder hitting SMG.

I never said it didn't exist at the time, just that it was never used by Spartan IIs.

It was only ever noted to have been used by Spartan IIIs, as their missions required the cut down design. Spartan IIs, however, took favor in the regular MA5 design, at the time of Reach, their decided favorite was the MA5B, and the MA5B was the only variant EVER noted to have been on Reach.

Alright, I see what you mean. However, if you knew ALL of the guns and ALL of the things that will happen (i.e. the game is First Strike and Fall of Reach to the letter), that would not be all that fun. There are 10-15 Spartan IIs we don't know of. We only followed The Chiefs team (Sam/Kurt, Fred, John, Linda, Kelly); other Spartans may had favored other weapons.

Info on the MA5K.

As you can see, Spartan IIs just plain didn't use it. It was a Spartan III favorite, but the IIs just preferred real, full on ARs.

It's likely they trained on them though, considering the SPARTAN's original purpose, and given that the reach will likely have many close quarter engagements, the K would be the preferred weapon when it comes to 90 degree corners, and long barrels.

And as for earlier, the BR55 was "discovered" in HALO even though it had been in service for years, that's all I meant.

MA5K.

The MA5B and C are pathetically un-versatile. I would like an AR that works at midrange if pulsed and mid-long range if single shotted. 2x scope and a damage bonus for headshots (maybe 150% or 200% damage) to promote skill.

  • 09.08.2009 7:04 AM PDT

The MA5C wouldn't really work canon-wise, as at least I've understood that it was produced very late into the war.

The Halo 1 version of the MA5B is most analogous to the SMG and could take the place of "human rapid-fire weapon". Then again, Bungie has stated that they do not like a SMG that looks like a rifle.

The book version of the MA5B is a multi-mode rifle with more applications, and could be introduced as a new jack-of-all-trades gun.

if i'm correct the blue team(kelly, fred, linda, and john) used the MA5K during their first "real" mission (infiltrating an insurrectionist asteroid and taking their leader) but thats if i remember correctly...

I don't believe this is true... the MA5B and MA5K were in use for quite some time before Halo 3. Wouldn't the MA5C have been produced between the B and K variants of the MA5 series?
