I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

The MA2B makes no sense in Reach, nor the MA5K.
The MA2B was an obsolete model by the time Reach fell, used only by Insurrectionists too poor to get good weapons (They were also about as accurate as a monkey throwing his feces)
The MA5K however is the exact opposite, at the time of Reach, this weapon was not in use by Spartan IIs, it was a couple of months later that it was used at the battle for Onyx, and that was only by Spartan IIIs and Kurt.
If we ever see a Halo Onyx, the MA5K is perfectly welcome, and if we ever see a Halo Insurrection, the same would go for the MA2B. But like I said, neither work at the time of Reach.
The only logical choice is the MA5B, as they actually WERE on Reach.
I said what would be cool.
Not what Can or will be.
What would be cool about ruining the Canon of an amazing Sci-Fi plot? That would be like having the Enterprise in a fight against the Millennium Falcon in an actual episode of Star Trek.
The MA2B wouldn't make much sense, but where does it say that the MA5K is a new weapon? The MA5 series of rifle was around from the start of the war, and variations would have existed as well. The K variant is just cut down and made for close quarters. Think of it as a harder hitting SMG.
I never said it didn't exist at the time, just that it was never used by Spartan IIs.
It was only ever noted to have been used by Spartan IIIs, as their missions required the cut down design. Spartan IIs, however, took favor in the regular MA5 design, at the time of Reach, their decided favorite was the MA5B, and the MA5B was the only variant EVER noted to have been on Reach.
