I've looked through all journal entries for Myth 1 and 2, and there are no journal entries on August 24th or Nov. 9th

One of the clues is "MAYDAY MAYDAY MAYDAY
All lost! To prayers, to prayers! All lost!

What, must our mouths be cold?

Arachne hung herself, you know. Take a hint already."

Arachne was according to Greek Mythology : "A young woman who was transformed into a spider by Athena for challenging her to a weaving contest."
She is also where we get the name arachnids from http://www.geocities.com/pelionature/mythology_Arachne.htm

I read through the myth.bungie.org encyclopedia, and something
about the sword Balmung was odd to me, so I googled it. Turns
out that Balmung was a sword of Norse myth, made by Wayland.
Here are some tales that may help clear up the bee business.

Balmung
Bungie's apparent obsession with naming A.I.s after swords may
be a prelude to a future A.I. character, but no halo 2 hints to
Balmung as of yet. It's interesting that there were 9 princes, kind
of like the nine Fallen from Myth.

Wayland
Hmm...I think the most interesting part other than the fact that
Wayland made Balmung, is the jewels made out of eyes.
Those are pearls that were her eyes

I can only find scattered bits about bees and spiders in Myth, but
I'm not done looking yet.

EDIT: I just read Dwarf_Pr0n's post, and it reminded me of the
end of Halo when Master Chief is feeling guilty about the
destruction of Halo, and Cortana feels it was the right thing to do.
What, must our mouths be cold?
If this is Cortana speaking, then in simpler terms it would mean,
"why do we have to be so quiet?"
Arachne hung herself, you know. Take a hint already."
This would be Cortana saying "Get over it"
mistake there were seven fallen lords including Balor.
D'oh!

On a slightly off topic note, at the end of Halo when MC takes off his helmet but his head is covered by the ship, does anyone else reckon that MC is really Bill Gates? :D

i've been observing the i love bees mystery for a while now and here's my theory:
the bees represent the covenant, the reason: in the "myth of bees" section of the website it says that the bees were granted their poison sting by the god zeus in order to kill the humans, but since they tricked zeus into giving them the poison, the poison came with one condition, once it was used the bee would die. the poison thefore is most likely halo because once the covenant used it to destory the humans they would also be destroyed.
now the mites talked about on the website probably represent the flood. they're paracitic, multiply quickly, and can destroy large amounts of bees (covenant) quickly.
one more thing. the the journal entry in first link given talked something about heading north to the hive. on the i love bees site i read one of the background texts that said something about a boat being destroyed by a flurry to the north. possible connection
edit: also about Dwarf_Pr0n's post their was alot of talk on the i love bees site about someone turning into a spider and things with eight legs crawling all over someone. hmmm

In Myth, spiders play a 3rd party role, attacking the forces of light or the forces of dark.

Interesting...that could be an important piece of the puzzle, but I have
no idea what it could mean yet.

Also, cable made a good observation on the ilovebees site connecting
the Myth II level "The Warrior" with a passage from the site.
Great stuff.

I dug through some Isaac Asimov short stories today and read one
called "Does a Bee Care?"
I don't want to ruin the story, so I won't post any spoilers. The
collection it's in is titled Robot Dreams. It may be in other books,
but that's the only one I know of.
