I had seen Halo commercials and ads and such but had never played it. But then I got my Xbox and had still not really played it much. Then the hype about Halo 2 started so I borrowed Halo from a friend of mine and he was there for the first level or so and said that I seemed to have very quickly grasped the idea. Much quicker than his other friends. He had been playing it since the game debuted with the Xbox and I later found out was VERY good at the game...so this boosted my confidence a little. So i then put the game on Legendary and got used to just how much harder it was. And after what seemed like 15 straight hours. I beat Halo for the first time and it was on Legendary. I was stoked. So then I passed the knowledge on to more of my friends that had not really heard of it that much.
Then, came the first lan. It was at my house. 3 tvs, 3 rooms. 12 ppl. It was ecstacy, without those bad side effects...hahaha. We played for 9 and a half hours. My very good friend won every match in singles. I came in a steady second the whole time. But it was still fun.
But the best memory, Halo or Halo2 for that matter, was the first time I beat him. And i am not joking when i say he is good. He played in many of the local area competitions and always did at least second, more first than not though. Anway. It was me and him. Slayer Pro. On Beaver Creek(or Battle Creek, w\e) The pistol was now a great companion of mine and i used it greatly. NO LIE. It got to 24-24 and I step out of the base and see him. He turns and we both start shootin. I think we both got 2 shots in each others heads and he goes to throw a grenade as i jump to dodge his last shot and i take one more hoping that i am lined up on his head and i hit him dead on and BAM. Hes dead first as his grenade also blows me away. I was so stoked. I thought he was gonna cry. To credit him, I didnt win another for a while, but now, with both halos, me and him are pretty even matched.
Halo and Halo 2 has brought me and my friends more than is possible to count nights of fun. We never really did the live thing too much but we lanned so many times. It was regular for us for the past two summers to do it at least three times a week. I already miss those days.
off topicish: i do hope halo 3 has some form of AI for multiplayer. Cause sometimes you just cant find a live connection or get to your friends to play.
