My memories of Halo started all the way back on my 12th birthday in February 2002. I came home from school on a Friday to only see an Xbox and two controllers in my living room. I got all excited and decided to open up the videogames. At the time, I had three games and when I saw all of them, I was thouroughly dissapointed.
I only got: Tony Hawk, Fuzion Frenzy, and another old game that i traded in. So, it was safe to say that I was heart broken at the time because I didn't have Halo which my friend, Allen, had been drooling about ever since he got it Christmas. I never played it with him, but I heard his stories and saw the screenshots on Gamespot.
So, to contine my story, We went out to Media Play and bought Halo. My friend Dan (who also never played Halo) came over and we both played Single Player on co-op....on Easy.
At first, I thought the game was crap , but then I went to the options and inverted the controls. After that, it turned out to be a very great game. I think the first night we played all the way to 343 Guilty Spark (mind you we both sucked really bad back then).
After that, I didn't play Halo for a few months because I was not a videogame guy at the time, I was more concerned with other things, but eventually, I got a taste of Multiplayer in my spare time. It was Gulch, Team Slayer, Warthogs only, 3v1. Me, my friend Steve and Dan against Allen...We got crushed, 50 to 21.
So, I quit, after being humiliated terribly for about another four months, until March 2003, when I heard Halo 2 was going to come out (yes, I heard the news a half a year late). So, I became an instant fan and decided to finish the Single Player game and beat all the difficulties. I did so by myself in about four to five days. It was awesome.
Then, I became absorbed by the internet in the Spring and Summer of 2003, watching the Halo 2 announcment trailer and the Halo 2 E3 2003 Demo trailer constantly and talking on the gamespot forums about all that crap ( Remember, back then, I thought it would come out Christmas 2003).
After I got passed the beginning of the Halo 2 hype (which still continues) We finally got to gether a 3v3 LAN match (a big match at the time). We only did Team Slayer until it got bigger, so we had absolutley no strategy whatsoever. We just killed each other. Allen would usually take 1st with about 30 kills on his team, Steve would take 2nd with about 25-20 kills, I would take 3rd with about 15-20 kills and Dan and all the other guys would finish behind us. It stayed this way for a while until we bought more controllers and got more friends together on Fridays. After that, we moved to Capture The Flag, which got really fun and really interesting. And that'd be our ritual up until nowadays, but it got better.
Around November of 2003 when bungie said Halo 2 was going to come out April 1st, 2004, we decided to do a 6v6 at Dans house. Needless to say, it was a success. With four TVs, 4 Xboxes with 3 one each one, 5 boxes of Pizza, and about 100 cans of pop, we had a very good time.
After that, we moved to online games with Xbox Connect. Allen came over one day and installed it on my PC and he and I played with 6 other guys online. We were definitley noobs at the time and got our asses kicked...I also started to go under the alias name of godfath3r at that time. So, over the time of December 5th 2003, to September 6th 2004, I have improved by an honest 40-60% in skill level, while gaming with my friends sometimes, and kicking Allens ass now. We still do this alot to this day (even though we now go to different schools).
So now you know my life long Halo story. Im still a fanatic of the sequel and the original ( as a matter of fact, I have been playing just the level Silent Cartographer on Legendary constantly for the last day and a half (just the storming the beach part) and every time I lose a bar of health, I start over. It really tones your skills for you). I cant wait to get my hands on Halo 2, and I cant wait to go dual on someones ass. So there you go. Peace and see you all in 62 days when I play till 3 in the moring on Novemver 9th, take off November 10th by skipping school and having Veterans Day off on the 11th as a National Holiday.
See you soon on Co-op Live and Multi Player Live...
I hope this pumps you up.
