Ok I don't mean have the BR and make that the only weapon in the game.
I am NOT an MLG supporter because I don't think their approach to making halo tactical works to be honest.
In fact I mean quite the opposite. The BR took skill to use, but when you could use it, it would dominate. But what if you could have the same confidence with every weapon.

At the moment a lot weapons don't take much skill to use and just do really n00b like things such as AR then melee. And dual wieldable weapons are all about spraying.

Now one thing to do is to add recoil to weapons.
But there needs to be a unique way of using some of the weapons as well as special features.
Also all weapons should have a headshot bonus.
Here's a list with some weapons that can be used in a unique way or have unique features.

Battle Rifle - Zoomed out: Does a burst shot that is less accurate but does more damage.
Zoomed in: goes into single shot mode that is more accurate, less damage.
Assault Rifle - More powerful, Slight recoil.
Can manually burst (just don't hold down on the trigger) more accurate when
bursting so more likely to get headshot damage.
Plasma Rifle - Powerful, takes down shields well and does plasma freeze.
also when overheated if you hold down the fire button it goes into

Overload: Fires really fast and sprays in different directions for a few seconds
However this renders the weapon unusable.
This would be used as a kind of last stand (so if you think your going to die go
into overload and take the blam!stards with you.

SMG - Does high damage but there is a lot of recoil - Ways of using it: Bursting - instead of
holding down the trigger just keep pressing to do accurate bursts with more chance for
a headshot
Spraying - Keep holding the trigger. Much less accuracy becaue of recoil but works well
at short ranges.

Plasma Pistol - The plasma pistol is a perfect example of what I've been trying to ellaborate
It has charged and non charged blasts
All they need to do is make this weapon stronger.

Yes these aren't going to be the only weapons in the game they are just examples.

Dual wielding: Its good to have the option, but this really limits gameplay. Dual wielded weapons are weak and boring unless dual wielded. And all you do with them is spray at close range. Most people don't dual wield as they are not as effective as using BR for example.

If we make them single only, it means they can be stronger and have interesting features like plasma freeze.

So PLEASE get rid of dual wielding.
NOTE: They could possbly be an option in custom games to dual wield.

The melee should be similar to Halo CE.
That means: 1 melee in the back
3 melee head on
No auto melee/lunges

Melee weapons: Energy Sword - One hit kill
Needle Knife - Two hits to kill (The needle knife is a melee weapon that
Jackals use in the halo novel: First Strike)
Normal Melee - Three hits to kill (Yes its not a weapon but its just for
compairing)
Gravity Hammer - One hit kill - New feature: can block rockets if timed right
and you take half the damage
instead of dying.

ODST gametypes: There should be a gametype where you play as ODST's and have the same health and everything, but you get put into gametypes like SLAYER and CTF etc.

Thank you and please post your ideas and opinions.

Not all bad ideas, but the issue with "tactical" gameplay arises when you add people to it, and see where they take it. The BR is a perfect example of what i'm getting at. In and of itself it is a good weapon, with little issue. Add to it the way people use it (spawn camping/trapping) and how it balances against the other weapons in the game (it doesn't) and how other maps account for it's great utility (they don't). All those things are what affect the balance of an otherwise perfectly fine weapon.

I've always been of the beleive that simplicity can give birth to some incredibly tactical thinking. You are forced to have more creative gameplay because you cannot fall-back on a weapon or exploit, as is the popular method of play in the upper ranks.

Yeah, and balancing is a hard task when take all that into account.

Very much so, which is why I cannot fault Bungie entirely for balance issues. They can only do so much before they give it to the fans. It's the fans that will find the kinks, happens with every game.

Yes I agree, and most of the time Bungie do a great job.
But I think theres nothing wrong with giving the fans guidance.

True, though people typically seem to gravitate towards what's easier. Again in the example of the BR, it's heavy use is primarily due to it's ease of use. It was the same with the PP/BR in Halo2, it's the same with those that exploit cheap tactics (spawn related) to get the easy win.

It would be nice to play an air tight game, but I don't think one will ever exist. If anything at least ideas keep it interesting.

Clearly because the desktop uses a 3 prong plug and a laptop uses a 2 prong plug, the microwave will fill your car with tostitos better

Its not like pros are dominating each other every game, and they are (arguably of course) some of the best BR users in the game. How are they supposed to, most of them are about at the same place in terms of aiming skill. You can't dominate with the BR if you are matching up against people who are just as good with it or better than you are. Sure they dominate other lesser skilled players with the BR, but that happens regardless of what weapon is in your hands.

On a separate note, how do you even make a game tactical and what makes a game "MLG"? I guess your implying that you want to make the game tactical but not competitive / hardcore. That game has already been made, its called Halo 3.

Yeah, My ideas can help to solve the problem, but will never fix it.
