Linda was not dead (permanently) at the end of the novel, merely flat-lined. She was put into cryo in the hopes that she could be revived after being thawed out, and that is exactly what happened.

Read Halo First Strike

And for the last time people, she didn't die! She was wounded, not dead! She was put into cryo sleep which healed her up over time and she was around during Halo CE, she was in the same cryo chamber as John at the time (Too bad Fall of Reach was written after Halo CE or you can consider the second player in Co-op to be Linda) and her pod was ejected when the Pillar of Autumn crashed onto the first Halo ring. She's still alive now, she's not KIA, she's not MIA...she's still in action as one of the most badass Spartan snipers.

I'm sorry but this is the third time I've had to explain that on this forum

No, she did die. You flatline, you are clinically dead. Your body stops working to keep you living. You are dead. It is possible, though, to bring someone back to life when they flatline even in today's day and age. I remember seeing on TV someone who died a few times in an ambulance and was eventually brought back to life in the hospital. As long as its done quick enough there (hopefully) won't be any permanent brain damage due to lack of oxygen.

She flatlined and was thrown into Cryo, where her bodily functions were put on stand still, so its like when Halsey thawed her out it was right at the time she flat lined (died), so it was possible to bring her to life with no ill effects.

but is it possible for a different soul to come back to the body or is it always the same soul to re-enter the body?

That and it allowed her to give her a killer dose of cortizone for the burns.

Your joking right? The existence of a soul is not definable by science. However you could hypothisize that a persons soul is in their memories. That being said if you are able to revive a person without them suffering brain damage, their "soul" should be untouched.

It's more the context of the discussion then the nature of the forums. Were talking about rescussitation after flat-line, which is a medical/scientific conversation. Souls don't so much fit into that "realm".
