Reach MMO. Here's to hoping.

And the people that believe "the hardcore playlists would be more popular if the rules were strictly MLG" can come off it, now. If you're not willing to support something close to your own setup, there's no reason for us to believe that cloning our own lists and stripping the variety down will attract more people. -- Shishka, Bungie.net

People who started on Halo CE think it's the best.

People who started on Halo 2 think it's the best.

People who started on Halo 3 think it's the best.

Why? Not because one of the games is "better" than another, but the absolute euphoria you get from playing Halo for the first time. They are really are great games. However, every subsiquent Halo game that comes out just can't restore that same feeling that they got with that first Halo game that they played.

I have news for you...that feeling is never gonna come back, even if they made a Halo game that is exactly like the one that you enjoyed best and fixed all the flaws that you thought there were.

But there is great news, there is a way for you to get a that feeling again! Bungie needs to make a totally new, revamped Halo game. That is the only thing that give you that first time, this is amazing, euphoria fix that all of these Halo CE lovers are seeking.

Instead of trying to move backwards and try and recreate an experience that you will never have again, Bungie needs ot create the NEXT great gaming experience.

No! It lacked autoaim and melee lunge and those things alone made it better than Halo 2 or 3.

Have you ever talked to someone who played Halo 3 first? And was very good at H3 and thus would have been good at Halo CE.

When they play the whole series they almost undoubtably say that Halo 3 is far superior to Halo CE. It is no contest. It is where they started that made the difference, not because of slight gameplay differences.

Good point but they need to make a completely new game, not halo. The more games they make the less popular it will become

they should do like family guy and end it well its good

You are lame...

I started playing Halo 2 first. Halo:CE is better.

LOL no. Look at MLG, the top pros now look a lot different than the guys that played Halo CE....

Character Artist -- Electronic Arts

I started out playing CE. I was a hardcore CE fanboy.
But I know the difference between nostalgia and what really is.

CE was great, I had a great time at countless LAN Parties. We even have LAN parties out our studio once or twice a month, they are also quite a bit of fun.

But Halo 3 is genuinely a better time. And Reach will likely be very different from Halo CE and Halo 3.

*Halo 2 does not exist*

I wanted a gumball so I said "Yo devil you got change for a soul?"Satan appeared and said "Yeah, yeah mosuckra! I got yo change right here just sign this contract and I'll give you your quarters!" So I signed it, lost my soul, and got 4 quarters. I have never regretted this decision.

I make coups, they are fun to make. Want me to make you one? Just ask I'll see what I can do.

I like Halo 3's online component, but Halo: CE is still best. After all you can't get anymore of a Halo feeling than the original.

So, basically, people just like Halo 1 more because it's the original? That's simply false.

Doc: "i'm a pacifist"
Caboose: "your a thing that babies suck on?"
Tucker: "no dude, that's a pedephile"
Church: "tucker, i think he means a pacifier"

I certainly agree that nostalgia weighs in to a degree, but if you look at the actual debates, not just people saying "make it like CE" there is a lot of people that share the consistent opinion that CE was a more "skilled" game. But skill itself is a completely debatable thing. I personally enjoyed CE the most out of all three, the campaign flowed the best, the enemy AI was challenging without being rediculous (First level Halo2), and it was scripted the best out of all three. From an MP standpoint I enjoyed it the best because out of anyone we LAN'd with, all 100+ people out of 5 large tourny's that we hosted, the game was about skilled gameplay, not a skill based on weapon use.

Weapons helped, they didn't decide, and that is what I feel is missing the sequals. Due mostly to the BR and dual wielding and the effects that both had on weapon balance and general gameplay. I don't think that either 2 or 3 are terrible games, I just feel that they fall short of the bar set by the first title. The only reason that 2/3 will ever rate above CE is due to the xbl component, which = title longevity these days. The sad thing is that CE didn't need that to be the best xbox game, eclipsed only by it's sequal.

I don't think so my friend, I started in Halo CE and I think Halo 2 is the best, you are right in something. Bungie should... "forget" the old Halo games and make something new, and they shouldn't listen to the ones that don't like changes.

Halo 2 is the best because
"it's Halo: Combat Evolved on fire, going 120 miles per hour in a hospital zone, being chased by helicopters and ninjas. And the ninjas are all on fire too "

with better music, themes like Unforgotten and Mjolnir Mix are awesome, the greatest fight in the trilogy happened in Halo 2, levels like Quarantine Zone, Uprising, Gravemind and Great Journey are hard to forget, I still play Halo 2, I spend more time playing Halo 2 than Halo 3...
The story is the best too, there are new covenant species, new vehicles... and 15 LEVELS that is a campaign...

Actually, i never played Halo until Halo 3 came out and i played it at my friends in late october 2007.
I then heard great things about Halo CE & 2 and bought them. After trying them out, i absolutely think that they are MUCH better then Halo 3, and Bungie messed up big on H3.

I've lanned H1, H2, & H3 since then with friends, and enjoy Halo CE the most. I'm hoping that Reach will have the most in common with Halo CE. Everything worked well in that game, i could never complain about a lunge missing, or a show of host with the sword, there was only the shotgun and even that was fine. I could beat my friend with a sniper if he had it or my pistol if i was careful.
The pistol was what worked the best. Even though im not a 50 in MLG in Halo 3, i still have a good battle rifle, and i play with friends who have 50's. The pistol only gave you 3-shot kills if you could predict there movements and aim ahead of them. It's like the Halo 3 br, but a 3-shot kill, and you must aim ahead more.

It all worked together so nicely.

Plus Tyguy, you can't really talk. I saw a post today where there was hardcore evidence you thought fall damage and all that were ideas from CoD, not Halo CE. It would be better in someone who has played all 3 games made a thread like this. Oh. I also saw you get montaged in an H2 montage i think. You got stuck on Midship by either Reid18, Kiwi, or ArKiVe.

Without Forge I probably would have played Halo 3 for two months. Without Xbox Live I probably would have played it for a few weeks. If Halo CE had Forge and Xbox Live I would still be playing it right know. Halo CE definitely had superior gameplay. People just like Halo 3 better because it was there first Halo game and wouldn't be able to play a Halo game that lacked the game customization of Halo 3 and the support of Xbox Live.

true story

  • 09.09.2009 4:48 PM PDT

Also known as Entropy91
Black Water Ops representative.
See you on the battlefield.

I have been playing Halo since it first came out, and I think they are all exceptional games. Halo CE and Halo 2 were the best overall experience, IMO. In both, the story had enough depth and thrilling moments to keep the player coming back for more. Halo 3's story was a disappointment. It lacked length and depth, and didn't really have those "Wow!" moments from Halo CE or Halo 2. Does anything in Halo 3 compare with the beach landing from CE, the warthog run, or being thrown into the Covenant schism? Not really.

As far as multiplayer goes, CE had it down. I can honestly say that 4 player spitscreen games on Sidewinder around a 13'' screen with my best friends were the most fun I ever had playing Halo. LAN parties were just as great. Halo 2 lost a bit of that over XBox Live, but Matchmaking and the party system made up for it. Halo 3 is missing something from the experience. Is it the amount of mediocre maps in the game, or is it more the focus on rank and competition that has ruined the game for everyone?

Halo 3 is an amazing game, with a lot of good things, like Forge and Theater, but when placed up against its predecessors, it doesn't seem to have the fun factor that the others had.

I can only hope that Reach will combine the best of all three games into one delicious Halo slushie of awesome.

Absolutely false, there have been experiments done on MLGPro.com and they clearly show that H:CE had the most amount of auto assist out of all 3 games. And no, the huge skill gap in Halo:CE is what made it a good game. Thats why Halo 2 and Halo 3 have gotten progressively "worse."

  • 09.09.2009 5:32 PM PDT

Big Team Battle Multiflag/Slayer on Standoff/Valhalla/Sandtrap/Avalanche = Win

I thought it was the best, cause the plasma rifle was an actual plasma rifle... And when you get melee'd your screen goes red. And the AR was amazing and not a piece of crap.
