Halo Combat Evolved
I got dem BrAiNDAwGS in me

I don't care it was much more fun for me. Even if there were not glitches it would still be much more competitive than Halo 3.

In the days of old, there were legends of a land long lost to time. This land was known as Ranna'Mor. Ranna'Mor was said to contain in its borders 7 warriors. These warriors had once unleashed a veritable hell upon the ancient world, until they were locked away. My name is Toriad, and I am one of those warriors. Our return is approaching. Do not run away, do not cower in fear; take solace in your final days, for that is all we can do. -Legend of Ranna'Mor

Uhh, Halo 2 had horrible balance issues and glitches that made it near impossible to actually play competitively. That is why MLG dropped it as soon as Halo 3 came out.

If I didn't know better I would say you like a game that was UNFINISHED, and UNTESTED, and left full of GLITCHES AND PROBLEMS.

You should read "The Halo Effect". It's a collection of articles about Halo, as in, the franchise and it's impact. One talks about the problems surrounding Halo 2 and it's creation.

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

So your saying the Glitches DID make it more competitive?

Dont mix up FUN and Competition, they are nearly the Opposite, FUN wise, Halo 2 was, indeed, my favorite. Competitively, however, Halo 2 was a joke.

Glowing Green orbs that follow you around corners were competitive and took skill? And how about the fact that Halo 2 aimed FOR YOU, so you really didn't even have to aim your weapon yourself, was that competitive? did that take skill? The sniper that could fire as fast as a semi-automatic rifle? The BR being HITSCAN, with no need to lead the target or actually AIM. I don't know what your talking about, competitively, Halo 2 was a joke.

What orbs? I haven't played the game in over 3 years. Also there is auto aim in Halo 3. Anyways it was competitive when I was playing.

I am talking about the Plasma Pistol, how it was RIDICULOUS in Halo 2, also, in case you haven't noticed, the only auto aim in Halo 3 is that your sensitivity lowers a bit while you are hovering over an enemy target. In Halo 2, it actually magnetized your reticule, so it would actually FOLLOW the enemy to an extent, and it tugged towards their head, making head shots FAR easier to perform (especially considering Halo 2's really LARGE hitboxes, you could hit a head by shooting a half a foot in front or behind it)

Trust me, if you go back to playing Halo 2, you will see how poor a competitive game it is compared to Halo 3.

it really brought something new to the industry with its great ai

Yes. Also, Goldeneye 64 brought something new to the industry with a controller friendly FPS. That must be the BEST GAME 3V4R!!!1!1! [/sarcasm]

Look at it this way. Which game do you play now? That one is the best. Why? Because if it wasn't, you would go back to playing the old one. That's just common sense. "I have more fun playing Halo CE/2." Then you would play that one. You aren't, so clearly it wasn't better than the new one. OR it got boring from so much play so you switched. Which still makes the new one better because you are having more fun with it.

What I said is entirely evident to this. I play Halo 3 most the time competitively, I step back and play Halo 2 when I feel like having some fun, I play Halo CEs campaign once in a while, and Halo 2's when I feel like a challenge. I actually do play all 3 games semi-regularly.

WTF? What does this do to it being a great game or being someone's best game ever? You're telling me that if you don't play a game you think is the greatest it's not the greatest to you? Damn that sounds stupid and is stupid.

  • 09.10.2009 3:16 AM PDT

I started on Halo 3 but I prefer CE. Campaign was really fun and the missions were not as linear.
It was really fast paced and, yes it would require a more skill in MP.
After using the M6D pistol the BR is just pile of blam!

Overall it was just more fun than Halo 3

It is possible to commit no errors and still lose. That is not a weakness. That is life.

Cheeto is the only one among you that doesn't suck.

I started on Halo: CE, and I think it is the worst game of the series by far. Halo 2 is much better than both of the others combined. The story is much better, and the boss fights, which everyone seemed to hate, were very natural and fit well into the Halo storyline.

  • 09.10.2009 4:18 AM PDT

For me, Halo CE has the best story in the series, while Halo 3 has the best multiplayer. Halo 2 is slap bang in the middle, and I don't count Halo Wars since I don't like RTS games. All this is going purely on how much I enjoyed each game, by the way.

  • 09.10.2009 6:23 AM PDT

Just enjoy the damn game!
Who cares about BR vs AR

Tartarus was just rediculous. The best thing that came out of Halo 2 in terms of enemies was the Scarab.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

Campaign and story: Halo 1 > Halo 2 > Halo 3.
Consistency online/Offline: Halo 1 > Halo 2 > Halo 3.
Multiplayer maps: Halo 2 > Halo 1 > Halo 3.
Overall features: Halo 3 > Halo 2 > Halo 1.

That is how I see it.

Wrong... Completely and utterly untrue.

I played Halo 3 first. At first I didn't actually like it, but I do now.
I then played Halo 2. I played through the campaign, and it was a better campaign than Halo 3.
Lastly, I played Halo:CE (stopped about 2 weeks ago playing it, still on the last level of campaign) and it is by far the best Halo game. The first level of campaign were you land on Halo is just perfect, and that level alone is better than the whole of Halo 3 campaign. Just purely because you were alone, the level design was perfect, no marines to back you up, complete silence, and you were exploring this place you had never saw before. Just a really, really awesome feeling.

  • 09.10.2009 10:02 AM PDT

based on the campaign and simple gameplay
H1>H3>H2

now based on multiplayer
H1>H2>H3

i dont understand how people think H3 multiplayer is better then H1 or H2
first game played or not a simple gamer should right away recognize a broken game.
yes a broken game

i cant even play LAN without getting bull constantly
Halo 1 or 2 i never had a prob

ps MLG didnt drop Halo 2 in a hurry. it got dropped because the next "great" competitive fps was suppose to come out and they moved on.

Halo CE was the best.....it's multiplayer was mental as well as strategic, remember when you had to jump off damnation for your life, time the crouch so you wouldn't get hurt and freeze for a second??? and remember when the shotgun wasn't terrible? or when it took skill to snipe, ....oooo I miss those days, When I was a freshman in college we would lan up every tuesday in the lounge of the dorm......

Personally I liked the way the game felt better, the speed of the character through the environment and the way the aiming felt, I feel like those are the biggest losses...Halo 2 and Halo 3 had great additions, but they changed the way it physically felt, which is what I liked so much about halo ce.......I remember one skilled gamer could take on 3 other players at one time, you actually had to be better than someone to get the kill, the new games are not measures of talent. I was lucky enough to go to an AGP tournament to play Halo CE in Chicago in 2004, before they disbanded and MLG took over the world. A great weekend. Sorry bungie.....I feel like Halo CE is the best game ever made, but I'm starting to think you guys got lucky making it.....If ODST and Reach aren't Halo CE good, I'm giving up on the halo series, I'm not saying this with hate or coldness, I'm saying it with sadness.....to tell you the truth...im only buying ODST to get to me Forza 3., im tired of my other games right now. Props for your campaigns though, they're still the best...

I am looking forward to Reach, it would be nice to see the elites as full time enemies again, not to say I didn't like them as friends, I think that was cool....but the Brute still is not an interesting enemy, The Elite is the ultimate counterpart to the Spartan, and therefore, the ultimate nemesis of the Spartan....

Are we ever going to see Halo:CE for Xbox Live ? ? did I miss that? or is it never happening?" sorry for the dumb question, i'm a fallin out halo player, help me out without hostility from fanboys please, I was once a halo fanboy too guys, life happened though

Holden,

the more you play halo ce, the more boring the level "halo" gets.....I prefer, Truth and Reconcilliation, The Silent Cartographer, and Assault on the Control Room.. Those levels seem to get better and better everytime you play.....on legendary as fast as you can without dying of course lol

I've beaten the first 6 levels of halo ce without dying, not all in one sitting, but individually I would play through them, Halo 2 and 3 I have some sort of OCD thing and I have to start from the beginning for some reason

People who started on Halo CE think it's the best.

People who started on Halo 2 think it's the best.

People who started on Halo 3 think it's the best.

Why? Not because one of the games is "better" than another, but the absolute euphoria you get from playing Halo for the first time. They are really are great games. However, every subsiquent Halo game that comes out just can't restore that same feeling that they got with that first Halo game that they played.

I have news for you...that feeling is never gonna come back, even if they made a Halo game that is exactly like the one that you enjoyed best and fixed all the flaws that you thought there were.

But there is great news, there is a way for you to get a that feeling again! Bungie needs to make a totally new, revamped Halo game. That is the only thing that give you that first time, this is amazing, euphoria fix that all of these Halo CE lovers are seeking.

Instead of trying to move backwards and try and recreate an experience that you will never have again, Bungie needs ot create the NEXT great gaming experience.

Why Halo CE is the BEST:

1:maps
2: Can you download Cra* like this for any other game?
3:Lost of other cra* I dont have time to type

Halo: CE had a much better/more enjoyable campaign

Halo 3 has a better multiplayer

Halo 2 has, uh, Johnson.

No! It lacked autoaim and melee lunge and those things alone made it better than Halo 2 or 3.

Have you ever talked to someone who played Halo 3 first? And was very good at H3 and thus would have been good at Halo CE.

When they play the whole series they almost undoubtably say that Halo 3 is far superior to Halo CE. It is no contest. It is where they started that made the difference, not because of slight gameplay differences.

Are you kidding me? I really hope that was sarcasm at its finest. That has to be the worst assumptions I've heard. There is no way H3 is better than H1, sorry, sir.
