What I am about to discuss is an idea that, in my opinion, benefits everyone. In posting this I hope that with enough positive posts, to get Bungie to make this idea a reality.
For those of us that have played Halo one, we fondly remember it for being revolutionary for it's time. What set it apart from all the other competing shooters out there was, well, everything ^_^
The graphics, locales, characters, enemies, and weapons were unlike anything that had been previously made.
This is where the idea comes in: to create a trio of (multiplayer) maps based on iconic locales and remastered for halo 3 multiplayer. The three locales are:
The Pillar of Autumn (crashed) from the last level,
The Canyons underneath the covenant ship from the level where you board the covenant ship for the first time, and
The foggy swamp, from the level where you first meet the flood.
Now, let's go into detail.
Pillar of Autumn:
The actual ship is far too large to be an effective multiplayer map, so the map would have to be the iconic section of the front of the ship, including the command room where keyes gave you his pistol, the cryo chambers (including yours) the mess hall, and the armory, all in the state of disrepair that you found it in upon crashing into it with a banshee as you entered the ship. Gameplay wise, the medium-open rooms would be connected by enclosed ventilation ducts and hallways. In terms of objective battles, one base would be in the command room, and one in the armory. Vehicles would be MIA in this map, obviously. There would be slight tweaks to the map allow for balanced play, but other than that, it's the wreckage of the most famous UNSC ship in history, and you're fighting in it.
Bits O' Canon: spartan 117's cryo tube, keye's command center, armory, mess hall, the holes through which you entered the ship in the final level, and everything in between.
Canyon's beneath the Covenant Ship:
This would be an epic map, with the covie ship hovering above the map with it's grav lift on.(yes, you would be able to go inside. Not very far, just to the maze of corridors surrounding the first room, but still it would be awesome.) The grav lift would involve you going into the light to get dragged up, and dropping from a porthole in the grav lift bay to get down. The canyons beneath would be fairly the same as the level itself, with a bit of balancing to account for multiplayer.(the end result should play like a smaller Blood Gulch without vehicles, and a covie ship hovering in the middle.
Bits O' Canon: The covie ship itself, the canyon.
Finally, the flood's swamp.
The foggy swamp would be a great place to hold slayer, infection, and team matches with the slight fog obscuring your view, players would have to be more careful about how they play. The entrance to the "flood level" would be present, but the lift would be inactive.
Bits O' Canon: The crashed pelican, the entrance to the base, and the covenant outpost.
DLC specific achievements:
20g - A blast from the past: Visit all the major "canon points" in the pillar of autumn. (cry tube, etc.)
25g- Retrace your steps: Starting from the cryo chamber, take the route you took to get to the command center in the first level
5g- Boarding action: board the covenant ship
15g- Missed one!: find and kill the single remaining flood spore in the swamp level
5g- Can you hear me now?: mess with the radio inside the crashed pelican. (swamp)
20g- Old School: Get ten kills using a single pistol in an online match. (pillar of Autumn)
5g- We want Blood Gulch!: Have everyone veto a map in an online match.
Now why would Bungie create this? Simple. The players would love it, giving Bunige more of a fan-base friendly reputation, It would make them a lot of money, and the players would be happy. (I know I would). Everyone benefits.
Please, help me make one Halo fan's dream become the communities dream, and help make that dream become a reality by posting your opinions and comments. If you answer the poll, please post your opinion. Thank you.
