They are pretty good.
A Plasma pistol shot, fully charged could literally Knock out A spartan will full shields.
However one plasma pistol shot uncharged could kill a spartan without shields.

Gameplay issues:
1.Spartans have shields
2.Elites DONT have shields
3.The ability to fire 40 MAC Blasts one after one
4.Spartan laser
5. New vehicles
6.New Vehicles that were never explained
7.Bird Flood
8.Engineers can heal organisms
9.UNSC can call down a healing circle...WTF
10.Pelicans were portrayed as completely useless flying transports and thats all.
11. The arbiter had no shields
12.The arbiter was thrown over the edge after he died, armor and all, and the armor of the arbiters is used over and over.
13. Forge held an energy sword without any wounds.
14.The elites were portrayed as giant hulking beasts about double the size of humans.

1. To make them more playable
2. I agree, but the Honor Guards do.
3. I agree
4. What about it?
5. So?
6. So?
7. Completely Possible
8. I agree
9. I agree
10. They could have been beter
11. I agree
12. They make new armor.
13. Maybe it was just an early version.
14. I agree

4.The spartan laser was not developed until Cortana had searched through Covenant files and found out how their weapons work. She made the first prototype pretty much.
7.Birds do not have enough mass for the flood to infect, they have the ability, like grunts and jackals to not be infected.
12.Its passed down from arbie to arbie.
13.Even if it was, it would have either melted his hand to his glove, or caught his glove on fire. You have to remember...PLASMA.

4. Lasers are not Plasma.
7. That looks like a bird to you?, Flood Spores also infect.
12.Not entirely likely, because that would be a melton glob of metal slag
13.What keeps Arbie from having his hand melted?

4.But she learned how to make the Spartan laser a stable weapon because she learned how they made, and used their weapons to where they were stable.
7.The developers even commented that it seemed like a half buzzard cross. However they give no origin to the species whatso ever which may mean they had no idea how to enter it in.
12.How so?
13.Supposedly the SHIELDS HE HAS.

7.It looks like collected bodies, similar to the Pure Strain
12. Used through millinia facing opponents with Plasma weaponry, any and all armor would become useless.
13. You also didn't notice that the Energy Sword had guards on it, right? That basket that covers the fist, right?

Gameplay issues:
1.Spartans have shields
2.Elites DONT have shields
Purely for gameplay. Like why can the Chief dual wield the Needler in H2 but not in H1 or H3?

3.The ability to fire 40 MAC Blasts one after oneCould be from different ships, or maybe not the main MAC used to take out Covenant, but one for orbital strikes.

4.Spartan laser?
It was invented back then.

5. New vehicles
6.New Vehicles that were never explained
lol.
Halo 2 and 3 had new vehicles.

7.Bird FloodHaven't seen those yet.

8.Engineers can heal organisms
9.UNSC can call down a healing circle...WTF
Like how the Chief has regenerating health from biofoam injectors in H2 and H3... biofoam doesn't heal, it cleans and numbs a wound temporarily.

10.Pelicans were portrayed as completely useless flying transports and thats all.Kind of... like... in... Halo 1... Halo 2... and Halo 3?

11. The arbiter had no shieldsHe had shields, they just didn't flare up.

12.The arbiter was thrown over the edge after he died, armor and all, and the armor of the arbiters is used over and over.Umm, no it's not.

13. Forge held an energy sword without any wounds. So?

14.The elites were portrayed as giant hulking beasts about double the size of humans.Human = 6'0''
Elite = 8'5''

12.Thats the point of shields and repairs.
13.Oh yeah, cause we all know that metal blocks heat.Oh and the energy words had an a fail safe for when they hit the ground. They turned off.

1. Only in gameplay.
2. Gameplay reasons.
3. Gameplay...
4. We don't know the time the Spartan laser was produced.
5. Vehicles can be discontinued.
6. Gameplay.
7. Exclusive to that planet, it had more time to evolve.

9. Oh FFS, GAMEPLAY.

11. He seriously didn't need them, he's way overpowered as is.
12. Just another Lie by the prophets.
13. Older energy sword didn't have the failsafe, did you see the handle?
14. The Elites are SUPPOSED to be MUCH larger than the humans.

1.Halo 1 was because he did not have the upgrade suit.
3.I think they would be using that ON the covenant fleets.
4.Prove it.
6.Yes...They were sequels.
8 and 9.Yes but they actually completely heal, not numb.
10.Yes but they could fire weapons, unlike in HW
11.Hmm...So when Forge shot his pistol the shields didn't flare, and a puny knife can just pierce it?
12.It is stated in Halo 2 during the cutscene when you play as the arbiter
13.The heat radiating off the plasma alone would have melted his hands pretty much.
14.Thats not double, even Ensemble admitted they made them too big.

...Here I go again...
1.Gameplay?Well, I'd rather fight under the normal circumstances.(This goes for all the gameplay answers.)
4.So you cannot argue it was made before.Nor can I after. The best we can go on is Cortana's data.
5. Yes but Im sure the covies did not want to give up their locust or the vampires nor would they need to.
10.Yes but they did have weapons and they were not shown on any pelican in HW
11.Yeah, this was even in the cut scenes, they should AT LEAST make those canon correct.
12.Proof.
13.Older? Even if it DIDN'T have the fail safe it would have destroyed his hand.
14.NOT DOUBLE their size.

1.Halo 1 was because he did not have the upgrade suit.
I know it was a mistake for the Spartans to have shields and Elites not to have shields. Just like it was a mistake for the biofoam to heal the Chief in H2/3.

4.Prove it.Pop in your Halo Wars disk and check it out. Bungie confirms Halo Wars as canon and the Laser existed in it (2531) so it was invented back then.

6.Yes...They were sequels.Umm, and? Do you really think that we saw the entire UNSC armory in Halo 1, 2 and 3? In Halo 1 you are crash landing from a single ship completely isolated from the rest of the UNSC. Where would you get all of these exotics from? All you would have was the stuff aboard the PoA, and it just happened to have Scorpions and Warthogs with no other human vehicles.

Halo 2 was a similar situation with the IaC being isolated at Delta Halo.

By the time of Halo 3 the inner colonies had all been overrun and humanity was on its last life. Maybe they lost lots of resources. Or maybe the Chief was just never near the "new" vehicles but they existed elsewhere.

8 and 9.Yes but they actually completely heal, not numb. No, read the novels.

10.Yes but they could fire weapons, unlike in HWThey didn't shoot in Halo 1 and 2. Only scripted portions in Halo 3.

11.Hmm...So when Forge shot his pistol the shields didn't flare, and a puny knife can just pierce it?Looked like it flared to me. Or maybe when he has camo on his shields de-activate to redirect power.

12.It is stated in Halo 2 during the cutscene when you play as the arbiterNo, Rtas 'Vadumee says "You may wish to do the same, Arbiter, but take heed: your armor's system is not as...new as ours. Your camouflage will not last forever."

13.The heat radiating off the plasma alone would have melted his hands pretty much. Why doesn't shooting a plasma rifle round close to a marine's face in Halo 1/2/3 not instantly kill them, then?

14.Thats not double, even Ensemble admitted they made them too big. They're not double, you're over-exaggerating.

yes its much like a lightsaber

  • 09.10.2009 7:20 PM PDT

Oh yeah It's Rayzed.

The truth in the matter is that the majority of these were added in simply for gameplay. The problem is that Ensemble did nothing to justify them. They never told us why the Spartan Laser was there, they never explained why the Arbiter has no shields yet the Spartans do.

This is just like making Conjectures. A statement can't be entirely true unless there is no possible way to prove it false.

Not completely.
Bungie considers their games top canon other than physics but HW defies some of Halo 1/2/ and 3's canon.

Technically true. But most members have destructed canon into two seperate entities. The Microsoft canon and the Absolute canon (merely a name, means nothing). If Ensemble had done their research, the game wouldn't have so many flaws.

Wrong. Guess what -blam!-es. Bungie doesn't own Halo anymore, them saying its canon means nothing now. Thats right, eat taboo arguments.

The only reason I can give for no Brutes is that the Elites stated that Brutes were rarely used in combat. We could have more of an argument if we knew which Prophet led the attack.

But what I was saying was if there was more of a covenant back-story involving Brutes and the Brute Chieftain. Not necessarily brutes in the Human-covenant war

I reccomend reading Contact Harvest. It details the life of a pack of Brutes sent to investigate Harvest. Along with Johnson's early life.
