BLAM!

About a month and a half ago, there was a post that from bungie talked about the very beginning of halo and featured a few pics of a primitive halo game. It included spartans and elites plus some vehicles that can be traced to our common halo 3 warthog ,scorpion, and banshee. But there were 2 pictures in particular that really caught my attention. They involved spartans with a sword that is used in the heroic and legendary symbols in halo campagin (relating to the skull and cross bones). They werent slicing and dicing up elites, no gorey pictures, but still the fact that they wielded the swords was very interesting to me. It would be THUG NASTY if there was a spartan sword in Reach or a new human melee weapon much like this sword

Thanks Bungie for all!

A real test of a man is if he is willing to scrape a sharpened razor up and down his junk just to please a woman.

You got my vote.

Last Refuge - Operation Phoenix is in effect. From the ashes, we will rise.

Yeah. Hopefully it's bigger than in the logo, and made of some kind of uber metal that can deflect Energy Sword attacks. Nice job on retrieving the pictures, I guess.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

I'll take a machete.

it should look like the one that the gray team spartan has on the cover of the book, The Cole Protocol.

A Hell Jumper - Heroic, a Spartan - Legendary, be We're Mythic; Spartan Mythic Team.

BLAM!

a machete would work to. yah i rembered them just at random the other day and i kept starring at the halo read fourm part on the homepage. id rather have a machete than a combat knife though

Being an Elite is its own reward.

They removed the sword because it was unrealistic to be fighting against energy swords with it. The energy sword would just slice through it.

It was cool though.

BLAM!

was it in marthon or somethin?

  • 09.12.2009 12:14 PM PDT

-blam!- Was that actually blammed out? Or did I just type it? You'll never know.

Again, a sword will do nothing to a Covenant soldier in combat armour. It might be good for Jackals and The Flood.

If it can deflect energy sword attacks... why not make a whole armor out of it?

Check out Operation Save the Chief

If it was super dense to absorb energy sword attacks then it might be too heavy to make it feasable as bodyarmor.

but the MJOLNIR body armor weighs almost a ton! if a spartan can wear that and be comfortable they can wear a super dense material like that

Yeah, but it's not all body armor. There's the power pack, the gell layer, and the exoskeleton that enhances strength and speed etc. The only reason the current armor is even wearable is because it isn't all metal, and the actual armor plating is a (much lighter than plain metal) metal-ceramic composit.

It would be nice just to have a human melee weapon

  • 09.12.2009 1:13 PM PDT

In high definition baby!

Not a sword, but they should bring in the combat knives that are revealed in the books.

I would rather have the machetes on the difficulty symbols that were meant to be in the game from CE.

And there are plenty of Brutes, Jackals, Drones, and Grunts to eviscerate.
