Subject: No Flood!

I don't want the flood in this game because it would ruin the whole point of this game! The UNSC doesn't know or have seen the flood till halo 1. This is a battle between the humans and the covenant! I would hate this game if the flood came in half way! That would suck! And that's another reason i hate the flood, they only pop up whenever you fight your main enemy.

Rock + Metal = Life
Simple math

Yeah, I agree. Even though I don't hate flood I wouldn't want them in this game.

Did you just skip through all of the cenimatics in Halo:CE? You do know there is a story involved in the game right? The flood are trapped in the halo when the covenant release them in the first game. The reach game time line would be parallel with the first game if not before, so how could there be flood?

Have you been involved with anything Halo besides Combat Evolved? Sounds like you haven't.

If you played Halo 2 or Halo Wars, you would know that there were Flood containment facilities on places other than Halo. If you read HGN you would know that the Covenant have known of the Flood for a long time, but the first ring they found was in Halo 1, so they found Flood on other planets.

Why can't Reach be one of those planets which has Flood on it?

Since the PoA was isolated from the UNSC and encapsulated in a time-dilating bubble in space, any Flood discovery would fall on deaf ears in Halo 1, so Cortana would not know about them (if the theoretical Halo REACH Flood were reported at all).

you do relieze that bungie had no control over halo wars which makes it no canon. Plus reach is one of the unsc strong hold with tunnels through out the underground becuase it was a titanium mine so no the flood won't be under ground.

plus after halo 1 masterchief did go back to reach to find the other spartans. the time period in which reach and halo 1 take place is only about 6 days or so

Beware the smiley face! =D

I'm pretty sure the flood wont be in reach anyway. From what i've seen, its likely the game will be based on the Fall of Reach which dosent mention the Flood. I havent read it, but ive been told that they do not appear in it.

Also, the Flood dont ruin combat. I think they are really fun to fight. (Except on H3's Cortana and HCE's Library. God those levels give me nightmares.)

And also, the Flood have been seen before Halo 1. The Spirit of Fire fought them in Halo Wars. I know Halo wars has messed up on a fair bit of canon, but i think its reasonable for them to have encountered flood. After all, as far as we know they didnt make it home - so the UNSC never would have been notified of the flood. However, we dont know that yet. Maybe one day we will.

Yes but bungie havent really said that Halo Wars was non canon. Its perfectley possible that Halo Wars was the first encounter with the flood, not Halo Combat Evolved.

There just isn't enough information at the time to make a conclusive decision. But from my understanding, Bungie is HUGE on storyline and previous events influencing the future ones.

That is basically the entire game series. If it wasn't for the Forerunners, and the war between them and the Flood, the Halo rings wouldn't exist.

So I'm hopin' and I'm pretty sure that Bungie is not going to allow Flood in Halo: Reach because it is a prequel and the UNSC fleet didn't really encounter the flood (PoA doesn't count because it was destroyed. Master Chief doesn't count because he kill the threat before it spread). Untill Halo 2, and mostly in Halo 3 when the ship crashed on Earth.

Before that they had no idea about the Flood. So even though underneath Reach is some crazy portal to a shield world, the Flood will probably not be there. If they were, then we would have read about them in Halo: Fall of Reach. Humans were colonized there for many years before the Covenant attacked the planet.

Agreed, mostly.

My opinion is that the UNSC dont know about the flood, but they have encountered it before (Spirit of Fire) however its likely they were not alerted to this conflict. Therefore i would say the UNSC HAVE engaged the flood BEFORE Reach, but they dont actually know that they have not even ONI know. Thats my view.

Don't complain about what Bungie creates, play it.

LOL

I don't think Bungie could or even would put the Flood on Reach.

But now its time for Canon screw up thanks to Ensemble Studios and Frankie.

In the First Halo Novel Fall of Reach. The Spartans are informed that they are being prepared foe a special mission t capture a High Prophet of the Covenant. Hasley informs them that all but 3 Spartans who are two far away to be recalled(Gray Team), so this means that Spirit of Fire made it back as another case I believe in First Strike List what Spartans are truly MIA. Non include the SoF Spartans. The only "logical" explanation is that ONI has made the crew of SoF not mention anything of the flood. It's top secret or above top Secret.

Only reason I hate Halo Wars....

I know they messed up canon a bit, but its unfair to hate a game for not being totally canon. I'd say its not one of the best games ive ever played, but it was alright.

And to be honest, i would pay the whatever pounds it was for limited edition that i paid AGAIN if it meant another cutscene like Monsters. It wasnt the best overall cutscene in the Halo series, but it was the best pure action one.

  • 09.11.2009 11:40 AM PDT

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

I love the game, I frequently play it online and doing a run though on Legendary. It's not unfair, it's my opinion yes that cutscene was amazing.

But it's like saying in the in Episode 5 where one of the most iconic plot twist ever, the whole Vader is luke father. Then how about in Episode 3 you find whats her nuts in preganat with twins,...by someone else? Would kinda screw up the canon wouldn't it. Kinda like Halo Wars did with the Flood. Also...MYSTERY TRIP TO ARCADIA. No reason to go there at all

  • 09.11.2009 11:46 AM PDT

Signatures are for squares.

Halo Wars did not screw up Canon. There are some things said in Fall of Reach that don't make much sense anyway, so Ensemble decided to "fix" it.

How can the covenant be at war for 26 years and they have never used Elites or Hunters on a ground battle, that doesn't make sense. An army of Grunts/Jackles/Engineers/Drones.

Pretty -blam!-.

your not right... why in halo wars there was flood and the UNSC saw it...

1. bungie didnt make halo wars
2. you atually bought thegame???
3. halo wars has nothing to do with the halo timeline

1. But they helped give guidance about the story.
2. Yes, and I love it
3. It has everything to do with the story.
