Hello,

This idea is directly taken from Call of Duty, but I think it would put a new spin on Halo Multiplayer. Though I hate to pull ideas from another universe and gaming style completely, I think it's a good idea.

First off, I've played Halo since the day it came out. (Halo CE-3) and its a great game with an amazing story line that will definitely stand the test of time just like other great Sci-Fi works.

That being said, I think that spawn weapons with scattered upgraded guns throughout multiplayer levers, though they work, should be changed. The game starts and everyone races to the good gun, there's not skill in killing your opponent. It's just who can chuck a grenade first, and shoot the head.

Now, if the system were to be lets say "revamped" into something like Call of Duty (though I really hate to make suggestions from an entirely different game) and give players more options for their load out before battle.

First off, almost every player is unique in game style, and their load outs reflect that. Their guns with attatchments or perks are all very different and that adds alot of appeal to the game.

Then it would give players something to strive for, maybe at a certain kill count you get a new gun unlocked.

But then again, this system they currently have has worked fine for the past 3 games, so y shouldn't it still work?

Well, there's that thought that someone going into combat wouldn't be dropped with 2 guns, about 4 clips, and 2 grenades without any thought to which gun/amount of ammo/grenade they could carry.

This is just something I think that would improve the game to less of a run and gun untill your corpse falls over the edge, and turn it into a tactical shooter that would take good players, and turn them into great ones.

This could also work well because in the story line of this upcoming game. The humans aren't completely technologically superior yet and it would give them an advantage to survive.

I'd love to be a 10 year old and tell my mom I'm going on an adventure out into the world catching Pokemon, with her full support. Never mind the fact that there are rapists, criminals, and murders out there, or the fact that I may get killed by a Pokemon.

Luckily I have Pikachu.

NO!!!!

Real balance is starting out with the same equipment and equal chances at picking up better weapons.

I'm sorry, I cant agree with this. I am completely anti-class and anti-perk.

In Halo, players are supposed to start out on an even footing. Perks ruin that, and they wouldnt work with Halo. (Imagine Double tap with sniper. DOUBLE TAP.)

And classes would narrow down weapons used. People would just use rockets, BRs, snipers, lasers. And it would be extremely difficult for newer players who wouldnt be able to complete with the weapons loadout of the higher levelled player.s

When I play CoD4, i rarely see new players who are actually new - all i ever see is second accounts and high levels with prestige. CoD is NOT a good game to be a beginner in, and I dont want Halo to become the same.

There would be restrictions my friend. Plus double tap doesn't work like that. It speeds up automatic fire, not the single pull action of a sniper.

Tiz only an idea to bring a new air to a much loved game. It's worked for other games in the past to shake things up.

Some people are unwilling to change, that is why it is only an idea that might be undertaken and turned into the best idea after some major tweaking.

hi

Ok i see your point of veiw here that it would be good to have classes and perks but tht would ruin halo multiplayer for example you can get the flamethrower at a high enough rank say in halo you got the flamthrower in EVERY game it would just not work

  • 09.11.2009 11:06 AM PDT

I am a Stick Master ;)

i have read to many of these class based topics. these topics about class systems needs to stop its not call of duty there is no need for classes.

But to be honest your system is pretty much the same as CoD's. I'm all for change, but this drastic and this downright plaigaristic wont work. Classes and Halo dont mix, it would just ruin matchmaking completely. And Perks would too. They both remove the best thing about Halo MM - Pretty much anything can happen. Everybody starts on a level footing and has to get another weapon, or overshield, or camo, or a vehicle. In CoD, its brand new Lvl 4 with a Thompson gets mown down by a 7 prestige with a Browning and PTRS.

Sorry, classes/perks + Halo = Reach being the worst Halo game. And we dont want that do we.

Again there would be restricitons. Flamethrower's a huge weapon. I'm talking basic weapons like snipers/rifles/pistol load outs.

Not every weapon in the game mind you.

Like I said their current program works, but it turns into a blood bath over one or two weapon locations.

Thats what I mean. Halo's gameplay dosent suit people starting with Sniper rifles.

And anyway, we all know that practically everyone would use the BR and Sniper ALL THE TIME. The BR is overused as it is.

Spartan119 the Red Raven.
"So officer tell me how it feels to be at the wrong end of that barrel?"

ya its a focused area of battle. as it should be with other games like call of duty and such there battle is all over the place and not organized enofe u can never have real support because its to spread out with halo there are major confrontation points were most of the battle happens. this is good because u know were to go and dont camp a corner or wander a hallway and get killed by the corner campers. i like class systems as much as anyone (like TF2 is perfect example of classes and it has blood baths in designated locations and look its the best fps ever)

basically no because then we would be playing COD with halo skins... lame

Stopped reading at "taking from Call of Duty".

Look. Halo is one of the few games that still stick to the whole, "Start evenly, fight for weapons and map control" If you want a class based game, go play one of the other 50 games there is out there.

I heard Rainbow Six Vegas, CoD, BattleFront, and Team Fortress are pretty good.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Don't complain about what Bungie creates, play it.

Like the others have said, "No!"

I read it now and all I can say is good job failing. That is one huge wall of retarded assumptions and false information. How does killing someone for a power weapon not require skill when both of you spawned as equals? Call of Duty is much more of a run and gun game so this idea would increase run and gun tactics not decrease them.

What the -blam!- is this?
This could also work well because in the story line of this upcoming game. The humans aren't completely technologically superior yet and it would give them an advantage to survive.
This statement makes zero sense. How do you justify this blasphemous statement?

If you have a complaint about the game, just take a step back and remeber how lucky you really are to even be in possesion of it when compared to the millions of people suffering around the world with not even a roof over their heads.

I have thought about this at some depth and have came up with a sort of solution. They could give each the player a limit of 'balance points', a limit which is approached by adding weapons. More powerful weapons take up more balance points. However, only certain playlists should feature this - in cod 4 there is an old school playlist, in reach there could be an entire section (like there is a ranked section and a social section in halo 3 for example) dedicated to playlists where customized weapon loadouts are standard - this section could be the equivalent of social as it is now, but ranked could have standard weapon starts, thus appeasing those obbsessed with fairness.

  • 09.11.2009 12:39 PM PDT

From their brief description of gameplay in the campaign it doesn't sound like Reach is going to be class based at all.

Bungie recently confirmed that you would be playing as spartans, and that it would feel like a squad based shooter but without all the baggage that comes with squad based or tactical shooters. Sounds like weapon kits and all the nonsense would count under "baggage", right?

obvious win is obvious :D

I like the idea but lets narrow it down.
1. Starting weapons should be limited to basic weapons like BR, AR, Plasma Rifle, Magnums, etc.
2. No perks. I like CoD but not in Halo.

  • 09.11.2009 1:12 PM PDT

Too Legit

with all due respect, this is probably the worst idea i've seen

I'd have to say this is the largest wall of fire ever! Way to go OP, this EPIC FAIL is of APOCALYPTIC PROPORTIONS!

I completely disregarded your post after the first paragraph.

And don't tell me to read it, because it's just you chatting about crap trying to turn Halo into CoD.

Halo is and always will be all about map control and SKILL, not loadouts and two bullets to kill someone.

Go away, please.

  • 09.11.2009 1:42 PM PDT

I hate these ideas.

If anything remotely similar to that happened, I would rather have a limited set of balanced classes, and no perks/upgrades.

Also the option to turn classes off.
