Subject: Bring back fall damage

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

No.

It would decimate elements like mancannons.

I haven't missed fall damage.

Don't get cocky now!

mancannons were invented primarily in Halo 3 because of crappy level design and foot-slogging. This was mainly because the Splazer destroys any vehicular combat.

Fall damage would work, and makes sence in every way. Remember Halo CE? Remember Damnation, and Prisoner? you couldnt just jump off any ledge without concequence. You had to practice your crouch-landings to soften the blow. Those maps played awesome too.

Yes they survived crash landing from a pelican (which was in-atmosphere)... but that had a lot of luck, and crippled a good amount of spartans. That's also a last-ditch effort at survival since you're bringing up the books. That landing wasnt something they would do all the time. Also, spartans in the books run insainely fast, and are glorified "Movie Spartans"... Pretty much they are a lot more powerful than would be balanced in gameplay terms.

Now a Spartan jumping from several stories without ducking and rolling would be bad on the joints, and internal organs. Obvoiusly the weight of the armour alone could cause some damage. I didnt want to have to lawyer this, but some people are insistent....
Also, when the Chief first tried on the armour, he saluted too fast not taking into account the reaction of the armour and it hit his visor, which it said cause bruising. It also said that if it werent for the augmentation the bones in his wrist and hand would have shattered. So a simple salute could cause bruising. Jumping / falling from many stories would be likely to cause damage to the shields, and internal bleeding / bruising / damage.

There, I lawyered it. Discuss.

Maybe take out shields but not a kill if you fall from to high.

Don't let this thread die! we needs fall damage! not only does it make multiplayer more competitive it opens so many doors for bungie to create great maps.
