"YOUR DESTRUCTION IS THE WILL OF THE GODS, AND WE ARE THEIR INSTRUMENT."

Good arguement. However, that's your opinion. Maybe you should start a petition(group) to Bungie, saying not to put any remakes in Reach. IMO, I like the Halo 3 remakes more than most of their H2/CE counterparts. If any maps are remade, they should be the new ones from H3.

I disagree.

Halo 3 maps, are let's face it, lackluster compared the overwhelming majority of CE and 2 maps. The reason that most remakes haven't worked quite as well is Bungie's choice to add many differences between the maps that look small but are actually great gameplay differences.

An example is closing of the library windows in Blackout, or changing the weapon spawns on other maps. Equipment is an issue as well, because IMO it adds a negative gameplay impact to the maps. Even if you disagree on that point, you must realize that remakes play MUCH differently if equipment is introduced. Now by no means am I saying that they should make the majority of maps remakes, but they should ship the game with around 1/5 or more (or slightly less) of the maps being remakes.

So in short, to keep the spirit of the old map alive, stop with the adjustments. This is what makes each remakes less and less satisfying. Trying to make the map as close as possible would please most, if not all who enjoyed the map.

Yea I'm starting to think that way. If they are going to make remakes they should only do a map from each game.
Halo CE: Battle Creek
Halo 2: [insert map here]
Halo 3: Sandtrap (big maps are awesome and this one worked)

remake maps can be just the same like the old maps, and they can be in a special playlist called Classic.

Signatures are for squares.

I disagree. While Lockout to Blackout failed horribly, I feel that Last Resort is much better that Zanzibar. And I also feel that Cold Storage is better than Chillout.

And going off what my friends who went to PAX said, Heretic plays the same way Midship did. So I'll probably love it.

I want nothing more than a Remake of Coag or sidewinder. IF they are nothing more that graphically updated.

Do you really care? you can't automatically see my signature anyway.

At least, not initially.

There are quite a few threads out here about what maps people want remade for Reach, but here's the thing: the maps never quite live up to what they were before. Lockout to Blackout, for example.
These two maps have never been properly remade. last resort is too big in the base and there is not enough cover. blackout took out the library window and the sniper hallway. so lets hope heretic works out and i'm sure it will.

There are quite a few threads out here about what maps people want remade for Reach, but here's the thing: the maps never quite live up to what they were before. Lockout to Blackout, for example. The map flows the same, so it's still a good map, but the addition of lots of extras has changed a lot of dynamics on the map that helped make it the classic everyone wanted back. There are always things lost in translation between two games, and these can alter the gameplay that made the map classic in the first place.

So I propose that Reach ship with all new maps. No remakes in it whatsoever. Any remakes Bungie wants to do should be saved for DLC (make it all one big map pack). Reach will likely feature new gameplay mechanics and features that won't play nice with older maps, again, altering what made our favorite maps classic.

Besides, if this is Bungie's last Halo game, then this is their last chance to introduce new maps. Why waste space on a map everyone's played before?

No. I want Rat's Nest. It's my favorite map, to me it's the only map in Halo 3 that has vehicles, but doesn't sometimes turn into a case of one team controlling the map, and the other being forced to camp inside. I think the way the map is designed allows vehicles to flow, but doesn't create those open spaces where people get trapped by vehicles. You can still go on vehicle rampages, but a well placed trip mine can end your spree. So it depends on whether or not Bungie can create maps that have the same feeling as some of the better maps, but aren't the same map.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

Every map from every Halo shooter should be in Reach.
