I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

The BR is already overpowered in Halo 3. We don't need to make it even better.
I beg to differ, the BR is perfect, not overpowered. Give me one instance in which the BR is too powerful, thats right you cant think of one. Everything can beat the BR, even the Magnum. Just Dual wield & beat down.
How is it overpowered? Give me evidence, back your statement up with proof.
It's not that it is overpowered, it is just that it is too versatile. In a game like Halo where each weapon was designed to be useful in its own way, the Battle Rifle does not fit.
It is true that the BR is as close to a Perfectly Balanced Weapon as Halo 3 has ever gotten, but that is only acceptable in a game where the BR is the ONLY weapon. In a game such as Halo, with like I said many weapons with different uses, a single weapon cannot be balanced, putting a weapon in the middle of the massive sea-saw that includes others like the Plasma Rifle, Brute Shot, and Magnum totally throws the usefulness of every other weapon out the window.
I remember an enjoyable Blood Gulch game, where a in team of 8 4 would walk into the base, split up the 2 Shotguns, the AR, and the Plasma Rifle, then 2 other guys would head up top and ones would grab a pistol, the other a sniper. The Remaining 2 got into the Warthog, and began harassing the other team. Proper even distribution of weapons on the map.
In Halo 2, and 3, however, this is ruined. Lets use Valhalla as an example. Slayer BRs. Here's how it goes, the WHOLE TEAM rushes for the Sniper, one guy gets it, then one guy MIGHT bother to grab the power drain, and they would all head out, with JUST their BR and AR, completely ignoring the SMGs, Plasma Pistols, and Missile Pod still at the base, not bothering to get in a Warthog or Mongoose, completely forgetting the Shotguns, Turret, and Laser on the Map, because they don't need them anymore.
The game is no longer as interactive and enjoyable as it once was. People are ignoring weapons and vehicles they used to actually have FUN using and driving, because the BR takes all of that away.
(Before you say anything like "The Magnum in Halo CE was worse" your forgetting there were only ANY Pistols on around 1/2 the maps in the game, and there were NEVER more than 2, EVER. Guardian is the only map in Halo 3 with less than 4 Brs, and most of the maps have around 8.)
Point taken.
But when you say everyone rushes sniper, I don't believe that is true. Maybe that is the case in Social Slayer or among the lower ranks but not with Brigs. Whenever I play BRs on Valhalla, 1 guys gets the sniper, 2 guys get the warthog. And the final man rushes the laser. Nowadays someone always throws the powerdrain.
The reason people dont get the plasma pistol or Missle Pod is because there is no use for those things at the begining of the game. Perhaps later on, when there is a Banshee, or a Warthog harrasing your team, you pull out your Missle Pod.
There is no relevance in the start, who would pull out a missle pod. Decrease his speed by 50% percent.
It makes sense to choose your modes of destruction wisely.
Well, in an organized game, yes there is one appointed sniper, but I NEVER see the Hog, no-one uses it because it is ineffective on Valhalla. Standoff, yes, it is good. But not Valhalla.
