Holla bip bip!!

Halo is doing everything now a days and making more work for other games. Multiplayerwise, its hard to see another gametype find its way into popularity. As we can see now Halo 3 consists of playlists that all existed as Halo 2 playlist regardless of name. Some new modes came but sadly failed. VIP, new Territories, and (Eliminatio in ( )'s for a reason) didn't last in the MM world.

Now, ODST is taking one from the page of Gears or Call of Duty. Fire Fight: a horde mode for Halo.

What Halo hasn't doen yet?
The most popular game to have this is Counter Strike, because the whole game is Multiplayer. Perfect Dark Zero also has this method of gametype but without the Hostage/Bomb sitches.

How about a BUY WEAPON gametype/mode. I don't care how it gets implemented, but this play style is very crafty and can work for Halo.

What is BUY WEAPON???? Before a match players have a set number of money or points to purchase weapons, gernades, equipment, ect. By completing objective and killing in the rounds, players will earn money/points towards the following rounds. This works best in elimination senarios, but anything is possible.

Example: Start with 600p. A pistol is 200p. Ammo is 20p per 12 rounds. Oversheild is 1000p. A warthog is $2000p. A plasma gernade is 200p. A sniper is 3000p.

The possibilities:
- Old School Counter Strike. Assault or any other objective gametype with elimation rules.
- PDZ rules. Simple elimination rules
- Slayers with starting weapon and no weapons on maps. Buy weapons between spawns if possible.

I really can't think of other possibilities. If anyone can think of something that would be great.
My only concern is the Halo has never been good with the word "elimination". Elimination is possible to play in Halo but remains something that never has been done in MM. I believe that the BUY WEAPON mode would be work best in the Counter Strike style play.

Any other ideas, piggybacks...?

Reach essentially has put the "I" in "Team".

Remember, the enemy's gate is down

Naw, CS is a much more fast paced round based game. The buy a weapon mode would change Halo gameplay way to much, since the staple of Halo gameplay is map AND WEAPON control, with everyone starting off on equal footing, and then working for that weapon advantage.

Halo Combat Evolved
I got dem BrAiNDAwGS in me

Yeah, this would be pretty cool. PDZ was really fun and the weapon buy mode was good. They could make a mode just for pay for a weapon so people wouldn't get mad. Maybe a rescue mission type game mode?

Nihilism (from the Latin nihil, nothing) is a philosophical position that argues that existence is without objective meaning, purpose, or intrinsic value.

Put simply in the words of Nietzsche as "the will to nothingness".

Halo is about BALANCE.. buying weapons at the start? this idea reeks of failure.

edit: Though the hostage situation could be cool.

no, its basically turning Halo into Shadowrun.

people would just but sniper files and spartan lazers and this basicaly means that the player with the most mone is going to win

And thats a bad thing? Every game borrows some elements from previous games, so i don't see why halo shouldn't do that. Shadow run is an amazing game also.

I am a Halo 3 Failure.

This idea is good, except I have something better to add on. Instead of buying weapons from the get go, everyone plays a round of normal slayer first. During said round, people are distributed points by a. How many people they kill. b. How much damage they distribute. c. How many assists they give. d. How many Objectives they complete (if the gametype is objective.) From there, during the next round not only do the players get a good idea of what they're going to do / who's going to do what (i.e Who carries the Bomb, who guards the stairs, ect.) but they also get to buy their weapons using the points they gained from the last round.

Except instead of buying it each life, you simply press X during respawn if you want to change your weapons. Now, after the second round, say it's Assault, when you play defense, if you didn't use all your points from the first round, now you get roll over points from the first round, and more points based on what you did in the second round, it's a simple way of each person not being stuck with weapons worse then what they started out with.

Also, players should only be able to buy one "long" weapon, for lack of a better word. By long, I mean everything that goes on your back when you switch weapons, Needler included (it's because it's pink). However, you can also buy another weapon, such as Pistol, PP, PR, SMG, or Spiker (BRP if it's included, same with ODST weapons, and if ODST's weapons do roll over, you shouldn't be able to have an Automag with a BR.)

Finally, this shouldn't be the main gametype, it should be something you can turn on in Custom Games from the edit gametype menu. Sure, it can be in Matchmaking, however, someone has to make a good gametype for it first.

I'm going to invade your heart like a barn swallow high on milk chocolate and grandma love.

Fairness is only possible within the limited powers of man. Elsewhere, there is only chance.

Thus I refute thee.

I do not like the "Buy Weapons" idea. I like being able to pick up any weapon available.

This is Halo's firefight and multiplayer, not -blam!- Zombies, the whole idea of buying weapons is so retarded! In war, do you have to pay to pick up a gun in the middle of a crossfire?! NO! -blam!- Zombies is the worst survival game ever!

Nope. Wrong. Its taking a page out of a concept that has existed for ages.

Halo is fine. If anything, go squad based or Class based. But if not, nothing. Halo is fine.

Vancouver BC, Canada.

It is a cool idea, but it may be pulling away a bit from what we already know as "Halo". This is just my opinion, but I do like the idea.

What is the obsession lately with people taking ideas from other games and hoping to emulate them in Reach? Halo doesn't need classes, squad based gameplay, or anything else you want to add in.

The reason Halo is Halo is because that it has it's own unique style of gameplay, something that if changed from Halo 3's shouldn't be changed to a vastly different style but simply more like Halo CE or 2.

Fact 2: European guys are hotter

I guess I can understand if you don't want to make out with guys in the US if they're so ugly, you should just say so though.

Just another gametype that people would make amazing games out of. (I.E Infection.)

I like the idea.

I don't want this idea to be the basis of halo multiplayer. Halo Multiplayer will always be dominated by roaming picking up weapons. Buy weapon mode would be like a SINGLE playlist. besides it give the game a new feel. People won't always being buying lasers and snipers. The point of this is to make it difficult to afford power weapons. You only keep weapons as long as you survive. When you die, you lose your weapon and all the points spent are lost. Plus, players will be able to use/pickup weapons from others players they kill. Everything you have when you finish a round, is what you have for the next round. Ammo and all.

This is why elimination would fit best for this gametype.

Some say it's not Halo. It won't work in Halo. Well how is firefight going to work in Halo??? People want new things in this game, right? We'll anything new is simply Not Halo. This kind of mode would be perfect for a BETA!

Some are born great, others have greatness trust upon them, and others are just great.

They should make Reach a MMO that is First person

This idea does not effect other aspect of the game unlike the idea's you mention. Team Slayer, Flag, and any other gametypes will all remain the same. This idea is like Halo 3 adding VIP. It's a new mode. Althought this mode involves more new features.

I do see where you are coming from. So many ideas, can be introduced into this game. But what do you expect. Halo is the most popular game and everyone wants it to have this and that. And most ideas don't work. Classes and squads would completely change this game, and that's too much change to an already unbelievable franchise.

The weapon buy mode is from other games. But Halo can always make it their own. If there is anything Halo Reach should accomplish, it is making something new and original that is as popular as team slayer and team objective, that involves competative play.

Nah I don't think it'd work. I played CS for a while and I just don't see that style working for Halo. To think of starting a Halo game and having to buy guns doesn't make sense - everyone would buy the sniper and if they didn't have enough money they'd be forced to get a plasma pistol which they wouldn't get a kill with - thus gaining to money. It just wouldn't work IMO. Plus CS is based around rounds, not full games, which wouldn't work well in Halo either (nobody ever plays those gametypes in H1PC :/)

If you want to play a game with a buy weapons gametype, go play Counterstrike.

Bungie should just go crazy and give us classes(battlefield, TF2), custom classes(CoD), weapons on map(classic Halo) and buying weapons from a menu(PDZ, MGS4, Counter-Strike). As well as gametype you would be able to select the gamestyle. Not only would this give Halo: Reach unlimited replay value but it would make everyone shut the -blam!- up. The classes would have to be fully customizable too. The only downside to this would be balancing all four play styles into one game.
