I find that immortality/invincibility/etc. is highly overrated. Exploration always fascinates me, and so freedom of movement would play a key role in my fantasy. I could go anywhere, any time, observe any event, not to take part in, but to learn from. Of course, this does not make an interesting character to anyone observing him, no? I like the concept of the marine and the AI in marathon, escaping the universe and becoming destiny itself. Of course, to anyone who would follow such a fantasy to its logical conclusion, you would realize that this separation comes at a price to our human needs. With all boundaries removed, where is the challenge in life? Like it or not, the reward is in the journey, to borrow the phrase. I think we dream of such boundaries being removed because that is what we, by nature, strive for, yet we don't realize that what we need is the everlasting struggle of reaching that goal. It's just who we are. We like the stories of heroes against the odds because that is how we all live our lives. That's what makes us sympathetic to a particular character or event. Relationships between other human beings are the most meaningful events of our lives. Materialism is as highly overrated as omnipotence. I enjoy the struggle, the journey, the path we all have to take. A warrior fighting against evil, never to win on his own, yet never to give up. That is where the dream world and the reality collide to form life as we know it.
At least for me ;)
