Subject: Could the Spartans in the banner be Red Team?

Everyone keeps saying that the Spartans in the banner are Blue Team, but couldn't they be Red team? It would make more sense, since they were the Spartans tasked with defending Reach. I'm only 1/3 of the way finished with First Strike, but from what I read Joshua has a sniper when they land and uses it to scout, so it could be him on the right. And either Fred or Master Chief is in the middle, depending on whether or not Chief meets back up with them; like I said I haven't finished the book. But if he does, then Fred could be second to right, and Kelly second to left. I dunno about the dude all the way to the left, maybe Sam, but that wouldn't make sense if this was Red Team. Either way, I think Halo Reach will have more to do with Red Team dropping into Reach, maybe switching between Red and Blue Teams. What do you think?

Well it's not Red Team as Red Team was 27-Spartans-Strong.

I do think that they are members of Red Team, though. The only logical group would be Splinter Team Beta, as they were the only group with at least 5 Spartans which were all combat-effective (Delta had 6 but they got split up and were crippled from the fall).

Since the Spartans from the novel POV (Team Alpha and half of Delta) were never with a Spartan-259, I doubt we will see much of them (or the Master Chief, for that matter).

No, Joshua wasnt the sniper, Linda was. And this is most likely Blue team.

Linda was Blue Team's Sniper. If you remember right, there were more Spartans that just Blue Team, so there would be other Snipers, other Support, other Scouts, etc. on Red Team. I doubt it's Joshua but he was using the Sniper frequently on Reach until he died early on.

Yeah it has been a while since I read FoR...But as far as we know, Red and Blue team were the only Spartans in the Battle of Reach. AND Joshua was with John and Linda on the Space Op during Reach when he got hit by a needler shard and went rocketing out torwards space.

But the banner most likely represents all of Blue team. On the far right is most likely Linda, next to Linda is most likely Fred since he uses his combat knife a lot, next to Fred is most likely John, next to John is most likely Kelly since she was small but unusally fast, and next to Kelly is most likely Sam because John described him as a head taller than most of the Spartans and he is bulkier because while everyone else is wearing Mark V armor, Sam is wearing Mark IV armor.

Correct. ALL Spartans were split between Red and Blue. 3 on Blue, 27 on Red. On the surface Fred split Red up into four Splinter Teams (Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta) and they went different directions. Beta has an unknown fate as well as half of Delta. That's 14 Spartans with stories untold.

AND Joshua was with John and Linda on the Space Op during Reach when he got hit by a needler shard and went rocketing out torwards space. No, that was James.

next to Linda is most likely Fred since he uses his combat knife a lot,That's not true. Also, Fred was always the leader of Red Team, not a member of Blue (except for one mission before they got their armor).next to Fred is most likely John,If it's John he's either in his Mk V armor (Halo 1-era, he wore it when Reach was invaded), or his Mk IV armor. In TFoR when he gets his Mk V for the first time he describes it as identical to his Mk IV armor, but with a larger backpack (to accomodate a shield generator). That means that the Mk IV armor he wore looked like the armor from Halo 1. And the center character's armor is clearly different. It's not him. next to John is most likely Kelly since she was small but unusally fast,She was never described as being small. Also, check out the cover of Ghosts of Onyx. That's her in the Mk V armor pointing forward. See any resemblance to the small Spartan in the banner? No? That must be because Kelly wore the standard armor like the Chief, and looked almost identical to him. The small Spartan is someone with a special permutation. Not Kelly. and next to Kelly is most likely Sam because John described him as a head taller than most of the SpartansNo, he was described as a head taller than John. Sam died in 2525, Reach is invaded 2552. How would that make any sernse? and he is bulkier because while everyone else is wearing Mark V armor, Sam is wearing Mark IV armor. The armor doesn't look like the Mk IV (which looks like the armor in H1) so I doubt it. He was described as wearing the same permutation as John, Kelly, etc. so he would not have those large shoulder pads. He just has a different helmet. All the Spartans in the banner have unique helmet permutations if you look closely.
