Subject: Halo Reach is a class based shooter

If somebody's opinion is being smashed and nobody's helping, I try and help. I use logic and extensive vocabulary (and sometimes self-destructive circular reasoning) to confuse my enemies into submission. Fear me, trolling, fapping creatures of the night. For I. Am your worst nightmare.

No duh. Every Bungie game on the major consoles has been a FPS, it most likely has squads but we are not totally sure, we know that its not going to be squad based combat because thats not Bungie's thing,I already stated that it had a new engine, and we know its is going to be the final hoorah in the series.

Well, while not being "class based" as such, maybe they will do what happens in Jericho; being able to "jump" to another character or like ODST; from another perspective?

hopefully it is

When I say 'hehe' that's bad. If you insult me I'll give you a stern talking then wag my finger at you, that'll show ya.

halo has always been about the chief being a lone wolf

I wonder why, He is the last -blam!- spartan

Wrong,if you read the books he's not the last one.

there's a first time for everything.

You seem to have forgotten two very important facts. Microsoft loves money and Microsoft owns the Halo IP. They aren't going to change a formula that works very at getting them money.

the banner.
A pile of spartans. each one is a specialist in a variety of different fields.

together they make a balanced team, but anyone by itself would be pretty screwed.

this is shouting class based shooter.

The individual weapons are just each character's weapon of specialty. Maybe you should read the books before you go making speculations about silhouettes.

I just don't see the Class system working, perspective based FPS (ODST) maybe or even just a FPS with different story modes based on character selection seems more likely

  • 09.13.2009 9:13 AM PDT

Halo reach is not a class baised shooter:

prove ME wrong.

Classes would not work in halo becasue everyone would just choose rockers, Lazor or sniper and it would be stupid. Halo is not COD get it through your heads and go play COD.

Nobody wants classes in halo.

I really don't think that it's that big of a stretch to see Reach being a class based system even to a minor degree. Look at the ODSTs, all of them have different roles, they don't all do the exact same thing. Bringing that to a multiplayer scale would be very interesting, something along the lines of TF2. Class based FPS that is balanced and doesn't have everyone picking lolrockets.

If you make the classes have weaknesses and strengths then you won't have the lolrocketsniper people everywhere you look.

However, now that I think about it and read this thread, it appears that the fanbase of Halo might not be intellectually suited for such a game. Ah well. Maybe next time.

The boys at ONI and those squid heads have a lot in common. Can't understand a thing they say and they're just as good lookin.Guess they're all going to have a long talk about technical whatsits and scientific doodads when we get home.

The theory you described below is a theory. Based on the banner of a first trailer.

Hey! Some of this Halo fanbase is open to ideas, sometimes we just dont like the idea (i.e, classes) and the smart ones just say the ideas bad (unless its like: OMG madster chef went bak in time!!).
Just keep in your mind that not all the Halo fanbase is biased and unwilling to change anything.

A Bungie employee recently stated that it would be
"A group of Spartans together, without the restraints of a squad based shooter."

Don't ask me find the link, because I have no idea where I watched it, or when.

Nobody wants classes? People would want classes if it was done right.

Now, don't be like the others who don't want change and stop comparing it to CoD. It's like comparing apples to tomatoes. They're completely different. CoD is modern/WW2. Halo is future.

Why would they encroach on CoD's territory when WaW has more UU's (for the last 3 or 4 weeks anyways) than Halo 3 does, put the two big CoD games together and you already have a massive amount of players who prefer CoD over Halo. All changing Halo 3 from a traditional FPS into a class based shooter would make lose Halo fans while trying to take players away from a massively successful franchise. Its a very risky business decision.

The game will sell a lot of copies no matter what type of game it is simply because it has "Halo" on the cover. The longevity of the game would be threatened by crowding one corner of the gaming market with so many big name games, especially with MW2 and then Treyarch's next game coming out.

Having a class based shooter just isn't Halo.

if you have any questions about halo i am one of the few people on this site who will gladly help you. Even though this account has been active for only a year, my past accounts go all the way back to 2002.

Wrong. I'm positive Reach is NOT a class based shooter. Prove me wrong?

Halo sold more copies than CoD by a landslide, so why would Bungie change to the loosing system?

YOU DONT HAVE FACTS. CoD has actually sold more copies that HALO by a landslide because it also came out on the PS3 and PC.

...And you're still wrong. Even with it selling on PS3, and Xbox, it still didn't outsell Halo 3.

I speak the truth, and truth speaks itself.
The lies disguise what you despise.
Run. Flee and be, what you've always dreamed.
What happens now won't matter later.
What you see will not be, nor what you imagine will not happen.
The end is close, so take your dose.

Chief is in the banner, and he didn't get screwed alone, through Halo 1, 2, & 3.

How is that "pwnd" Bungie wouldn't say anything an sales, you'd have to look at the amount of money made by the Halo Franchise, compared to the Call of Duty Franchise, and considering Halo 3 made $170,000,000 off preorders alone, that say alot

It's pwnage because if you've been here long enough you know better than to make redicious statements like "this one" because it's never true until the fat lady (bungie) sings.

but you're only 15/16... sport, and I join right at the end of bungie's forum's golden age. When smart people made intelligent topics and didn't make ridiculous topics about BR better than AR, and ZOMG BUNGIE YOU SUCK, or Halo Reach is a class based shooter.

But just remember the golden rule (always say please and thank you?) hell no. it's not true until bungie confirms it!

“Strange,” mused the Director, as they turned away, “strange to think that even in Our Ford’s day most games were played without more apparatus than a ball or two and a few sticks and perhaps a bit of netting. imagine the folly of allowing people to play elaborate games which do nothing whatever to increase consumption.”

based off that, this entire forum should be confined to discussion of a couple of explosions, seen from space, and the banner....

*shrugs*
this entire place is full of speculation.

and I have been here long enough to know that unsubstatiated arguments are good fun to propose, especially when there is no evidence of any sort either for or against.

get off your high horse.

So you basically just admitted to trolling way to go -blam!- and know the whole forum would not be restricted to just a couple of explosions. Bungie has probably told us many things about Reach but the general forum-goer is too stupid to listen. Also, the reason the golden rule should be followed is because it leaves more room for intelligent topics to get noticed. like MLG Cheehwawa's topic. Any of the time travel vs. prequel argument. sure bungie has only given us the reach trailer but there is so much more like the books and their podcasts.

Now before you call me a doodie head and cry to mommy think about the impact you could've had on this forum if you hadn't just started a wasteful flame topic to entertain yourself you selfish jerk.
