Armor Lock isn't overpowered. You just suck at Reach :)

Reach isn't bad, you're just a BK :)

For my gamertag, look up "Ghoulishtie"

First and foremost, I'd want to see gameplay similar to Halo 1. However, if they continue down the path of Halo 2 and 3, that's when I'd rather see class-based gameplay similar to Team Fortress 2 with a Halo twist.

i think the class based would be more similar to battle front then team fortress

I just hope its something different. I like Halo but.... I would like some variety. A class based shooter would be neat -or a squad based shooter. I suspect that later. There were lots more Spartans at Reach and all the Spartans in the books were organized as teams of four

  • 09.13.2009 8:36 PM PDT

waz up

just because the spartans have diffrent weapons in the banner its due to the fact their a team with diffrent specialties in the campaign of course like how in odst romeos a sniper

Wrong. I'm positive Reach is NOT a class based shooter. Prove me wrong?

Halo sold more copies than CoD by a landslide, so why would Bungie change to the loosing system?

It still may be a first parson shooter. Battlefield is a first person shooter. Why would Bungie change , maybe because they have made a lone wolf game four times before and are their own company now and want to branch out. Don't you get it they don't have to make halo games anymore and for people to stay interested they cant make the same game they made already re-wraped.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

ok mr picky

the banner.
A pile of spartans. each one is a specialist in a variety of different fields.

together they make a balanced team, but anyone by itself would be pretty screwed.

this is shouting class based shooter.
You mean, exactly like the ODST banner? Except that every ODST is the same outside of campaign.

How to spell "space"?

S-P-ACE! SPACE!

Turning Halo into class-based would be like changing the original Mario games into an FPS... as in fail.

Iam enjoying Halo Reach and revisiting some past Bungie games, iam a big fan of Bungie and their online community.

Well you obviously cant be proven wrong wether your right or wrong no one nows yet.
Halo Reach is a game about a unicorn recovering from his addiction to cocaine in which he sufferd hugley and lost a lot of freinds on the way, this is his story of how his hard work and determination will lead to his redempion.

Prove me wrong.

Um... I like Halo? I don't really know what to say. I'm a student at the moment, I hope to become a criminal profiler, and I enjoy pretty much everything as long as it's good.

Bungie said there will be more SPARTANs running around it just won't be a squad or class based game. Prove me wrong.

"Mr. Picky"? Uh, heh, just so you know, that's kind of how it works. You don't pull an idea out of the depths of your derriere and then tell other people to prove you wrong.

As for your "proof", a banner of silhouettes does not "shout class-based shooter" in any way. They are specialists in different fields? Why, because they happen to be holding different weaponry? Sure, I can buy that... but Spartans are built to be one-man operatives, which means that they certainly would not be screwed on their own.

In either case, we have no clue if these five people are Spartan, if they are playable characters, or even if they have any importance whatsoever rather than simply be a branding for the direction that Reach is going to take altogether.

It is cause for thought, yes, but nowhere even remotely close to evidence, let alone proof.

no spartans wouldn't be screwed on their own but they have always worked better as a team

  • 09.14.2009 3:07 PM PDT

If halo was class based, I doubt many people would stray from the sniper. Instead of br /ar, it would be br /sniper? I don't see it happening. The oldschool weapons pick ups is why I quit playing cod4.(Messing with classes is only fun for so long) Bungie would have to completly rework all the weapons and downsize a lot of favorites. I admit I'm a '08 kid, but I've fallin in love with halo and I hope they keep the formula the same as far as no classes. Not that I'm closed minded to somthing new.

just throwing this out there. You do know that the banner is ONLY A PICTURE, Right? how does that justify proof?

I understand his theory. It makes a bit of sense because Bungie did say that this game was their biggest and most ambitious project to date. That could just be in terms of game length though.

....and how do we know those are all Spartans on the Banner not other kinds of military units?

This thread made me rage so hard that I had to post here.

Why does it seem like all of the calm intelligent people are open to the class based idea, and all of the frantic morons aren't?

No offense, I know some intelligent people are against the class based system and have good reason.

Since when did a game becoming class based mean it was no longer an FPS? Isn't TF2 an FPS, what about Battlefront?

The banner does make this game look like an fps. Different spartans of different builds holding different weapons, one of them LOOKS like a heavy class.

The game would STILL be an fps and it would STILL be great, stop spazzing people, please.

It would also make halo more team based IMO.

Me too.

Other way around.

No offense, I know some intelligent people are against the class based system and have good reason.

Good Reason being it would make Bungie lose money, it's not as fun as Halo currently is, and there's tons of class based games already.

Since when did a game becoming class based mean it was no longer an FPS? Isn't TF2 an FPS, what about Battlefront?

We already know it's an Fps. But classes is drastically changing Halo's gameplay.

The banner does make this game look like an fps. Different spartans of different builds holding different weapons, one of them LOOKS like a heavy class.

How can you tell a game is an FPS buy a picture? (We were told it's an FPS already though)

The game would STILL be an fps and it would STILL be great, stop spazzing people, please.

I'm not spazzing. We know it's an FPS, that's not the issue. The issue is that classes would completely change the way Halo is played. If you want to play a class based game, go play CoD, or Team Fortress.

It would also make halo more team based IMO.

Halo is as team based as it can get. You need to work together to get control of the power weapons, then hold the map down so the other team can't break through.
