I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.
Ok, this is NOT an "I want Classes" Thread, this is an "If there ARE Classes" thread. What this means is I am NOT asking for classes to be included in Halo Reach, I am asking for an idea that could be implemented "If there ARE Classes". Got it? Good. Don't got it? Read it again.
Now, Classes, what are Classes in a shooter? Well, they are a pre-set selection of stats and weapons that you will spawn with and carry with you as you play your game.
Ok, Custom Classes, contrary to popular belief, change a Class Based Game, into a non-class based game (yes thats right, CoD is NOT really a class based game, contrary to popular belief.)
In Halo Reach there is alot of discussion on whether or not it will be a class based game, and ASSUMING IT IS, I suspect Bungie will maintain the Halo Custom Game variety rule in mind. This allows players to play Halo the way they want to play it. Combining Custom Game variety and Class based game assumptions, I got an awesome idea.
If Halo Reach is a true Class based game, we can expect that their stock game types will feature un-editable classes that we will choose from when spawning. But in CUSTOM GAMEs, what if we were able to set up Classes that people playing our gametype will have to choose from.
This means that we create our own Class-Based games.
What separates this from Custom Classes? The fact that we are not customizing OUR OWN classes, we are setting the Classes people playing the gametype have to choose from. This will maintain the game as a REAL class based game, while allowing Halo to not fall behind in the custom-options ladder.
What are your thoughts?
