if you have any questions about halo i am one of the few people on this site who will gladly help you. Even though this account has been active for only a year, my past accounts go all the way back to 2002.
First off, let me say I've read a BUNCH of things saying that Reach is going to be a class based game, like Team Fortress 2 or the upcoming Brink so I'm going to assume thats correct.
As far as campaign goes:
I've never seen a class based game with a good campaign but it has a lot of potential. Imagine certain missions specifically set up for sniping, vehicle warfare, and stealth (ODST style). Also, it would be cool to have a covenant campaign where the classes were actually enemy types (grunts, elites, brutes, hunters, jackals, engineers)
As far as multiplayer goes:
I see multiplayer being a much bigger component. Think Team Fortress 2 with team based objective gametypes. There would be a bunch of classes defined by their armor weapons and abilities, maybe heavy weapons class (EOD) sniper class (Scout) vehicle class (EVA) and an ODST class that plays like the upcoming game. Also, a Spartan III class would be amazing (read Ghosts of Onyx if you dont know what these are)
Another big selling point would be Covenant in multiplayer. You could select from a bunch of completely different classes including the engineer which would be like a medic class. Also, Jackals would be fun because you would have that shield. With the shield you can't dual wield or throw grenades so the left trigger would bring up the shield and make you walk slower, but protect you.
