Subject: Will Reach break the cycle?

Halo CE - 13 Maps
Halo 2 - 12 Maps
Halo 3 - 11 Maps
Halo 3: ODST - 10 Maps

Does this mean Reach will only have 9 maps to start? Lets hope not.

  • 09.13.2009 7:33 PM PDT

Well that's funny, but firefight isn't the same as custom game maps.

Still, that is odd. I never noticed that.

And that's not a cycle, that's a pattern. I hope that Reach breaks that pattern. So that we don't end up with just 9 maps when Reach ships.

Actually ODST will ship with 22 maps. So get your facts straight. And those are just the multiplayer, there are obviously ten more firefight maps.

I heard from a very unreliable source that reach will have exactly one(1) map.

Unfortunately Halo Reach might only have 9 or less multiplayer maps because of the lack of disc memory space. If Halo Reach has a new graphics and physics engine, a lot of weapons, Campaign, Custom Game options, Multiplayer maps, Forge, Firefight, and Theater something has to be cut short or else the disc would run out of space. So either Reach is going to have to have a lot of DLC or come with two discs and probably be extra expensive...

The Bring Back Bloodgulch Group have many members looking for more its kind of an unofficial petition to Bungie to bring back Bloodgulch in Reach http://www.bungie.net/fanclub/bx3g/Group/GroupHome.aspx

its because Bungie has fallen in love with DLC and not giving people what they actually want....

*cough cough* BLOOD GULCH *cough cough* lol jk

ODST is already coming with 2 discs... so I wouldn't think it Impossible for the next "real" halo game to have 2

That could be possible, assuming that the 1 map would be almost the entire reach :D.

halo reach will hopefully ship with 2 disks, as with halo 3 they ran out of disk space so 11 maps + campaign was all they could fit (hence two disks with odst). in my opinion two disks is the best option.

And shepherds we shall be, for Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, that our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee, and teeming with souls shall it ever be.

I agree, the best Option is 2 discs. Make it like ODST, have Campaign/Non-MM Content (ie Firefight) on one disc, then the Multiplayer Maps and functionality on the other.

  • 09.14.2009 12:55 AM PDT

they should do like forza3, 2discs, first disc, campaign and all that other stuff, second disc=multiplayer maps, skins, etc etc. >You can install disc 2 and all of its content and never have to put the disc back in again. You can install whatever you want, you can choose what things to install also.

Edit: or they could of course just have multi on 1 disc and single on the other ;)

Valhalla is better, i don't miss the gulch.

  • 09.14.2009 8:07 AM PDT

How about another version, a cheap one, with one disc, and a more expensive one, with 2 disks.
Yea, when ODST ships, it will have 22 maps, + 10 firefight maps,

[Edited on 09.14.2009 9:07 AM PDT]

actualy halo 3 ODST comes with 24 maps

  • 09.14.2009 9:10 AM PDT

Halo 3:

Original maps:
Construct
Narrows
The Pit
High Ground
Snowbound
Isolation
Sand trap
Guardian
Valhalla
Epitaph

Heroic map pack:
Foundry
Standoff
Rat's Nest

Legendary map pack:
Avalanche
Blackout
Ghost Town

Mythic Map pack (1):
Assembly
Orbital
Sandbox

Mythic Map pack (2):
Heretic
Citadel
Longshore

= 20 maps.

So i'd say Bungie will put 20 maps to start with to their 'last' Halo game. And make DLC content also.

that = 23, not 20

and you forgor cold storage

The cycle of iteratively catering the game to a more and more casual audience? Or the cycle of iteratively lessening the skill curve? The cycle of making the maps worse and worse? The cycle of slowing player movement?

  • 09.14.2009 9:43 AM PDT

If The Pattern Was Put In On Purpose The Number Of Maps Could Easily Be A Countdown If You Think About, Does This Mean Another Halo Game After Reach Or Is This Whole Thing A Coincidence?

Exactly.

Lets hope they break that cycle and make Reach the game that Halo 2 should have been.
