Subject: I want more maps dammit!

Um... I like Halo? I don't really know what to say. I'm a student at the moment, I hope to become a criminal profiler, and I enjoy pretty much everything as long as it's good.

Recently I began to think that the Halo games have not come with that many multpilayer maps right out of the box. Halo: Combat Evolved came with 13 maps, Halo 2 came with 12, and Halo 3 came with 11, I don't know about you but that's not alot. I have heard from some people that there might be even less maps in Reach because of the lack of disk space and because of the more demanding graphics. I say "Balls to that!" package the game in 2 disks if you need to, even if it means I have to pay 5-10 dollars extra. Would you be willing to pay extra money if it meant that you would be getting an overall better game?
I know it might seem like a scary prospect, the whole "Having to pay more for games" but think about it: How much have you played Halo: CE, 2, or 3? I can almost bet you that it's 3-5 times as much as you've spent playing a "normal" game.
EDIT: One little addendum, I really want there to be about 15 campaign missions, because well Halo 3 was criminally short. Perhaps a 15-20 hour campaign.

Look... I'm on bungiepedia!

I would say 10 (large and open) campaign missions along with 15 MP maps would be great out of the box. Of course more campaign missions and MP maps could be added as DLC.

The 15 original maps should all be in different categories:

x3 Arena (i.e. Midship)
x3 Small (i.e. Lockout)
x4 Medium (i.e. High Ground)
x3 Large (i.e. Blood Gulch)
x2 Massive (i.e. bigger than Sandtrap)

Sounds kick ass but DLC... it just takes to long to load them. my old box took about a minute to load all the DLC (even tho my new elite does it in 10 secs) but not every buddy has one of the new ones with the triple-core. some people still run a first gen.

That's probably one of the best map breakdowns I've ever seen. By the way the only problem I see with it that if there is a map bigger than Sandtrap we'll 24-32 players, 16 just doesn't cut it. By the way please keep this thread alive with new ideas seeing as how I would really want Bungie to at least glance at this.

Why does it take so long to load. Do you mean for Halo 3 to load or for each individual map to load, just curious.

All xbox 360's processors have three cores. Just sounds to me like your old box's hard drive was in desperate need of a defrag.

Just a thought, make big matchmaking maps, and upgrade the match making system to take huge amounts of players per game.

I just want Blood Gulch back. Poly for poly.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

I want them to reforge every Bungie made Halo map for reach.

Every one from CE, CE PC, H2, H2 PC, and H3.

Every single one.

And to also bring 5 scenes from each game's campaign for a firefight stage.

CE:
Library
Silent Cartographer Island
Carrier Hangar
1st mission projection towers (where you rescue the first batch of marines)
The installation where you first find the Flood

Halo 2:
Where you fought Tartarus
Courtyard from the 2nd mission with the Hunters and Drones
Falling Station (arbiter's first mission)
High Charity
Arbier's Armory

Halo 3:
Crow's/Rat's Nest Landing Pad
Cortana: High Charity's Engine room with the 3 columns you destroy
Control Room Pyramid
AA Gun Hill
Frigate Landing Site on the Ark

Multiplayer Maps converted:
Standoff
Rat's Nest
High Ground
Last Resort
Terminal
Assembly (setting, not the map)

I would like more MP maps, But I would like a longer campain more. Halo 3 was to short, I went to school the day it came out, Got home at 3:30 and played ans still beat it. I only stayed up til like 10:30 to 11:30 too, I cant remember. I waited 3 years for that damn game, And it was over in one short night....

This might seem like a crazy idea, bit would you be willing to pay 70 dollars if you say got 2-3 disks that had a longer campaign, all the multiplayer features including som new hawtness. I would, I mean I would have probably played 90 dollars for Halo 3 becuase the ratio of game to price has been ridiculously in favor of the amount of time I've played the game.

WTF? its called forge

  • 09.14.2009 6:07 PM PDT

I'd just prefer that half the maps out of the box don't suck horribly.

well think f it this way! the average game has around 6 maybe 7 maps.halo 3 has 11 out of the box and about to have 24 all together. the normal game after DLC is out has around 12 maybe 14 ok halo has LOTS of maps.i agree with the longer campaign though!

The Halo 3 maps were pretty freakin' good man. The only ones I didn't like all that much were the heroic map pack. I liked foundry but not rat's nest and standoff (well I kinda liked standoff.)

But wouldn't it be awesome to just have more variety right out of the box. I want Halo: Reach to be considered one of if not the best game ever. I mean I just want Halo to end on a really high note, I want it to fu cking break glass from miles around. I want Halo: Reach to not just redefine the bar that has been set for FPSs but completely obliterate it.

well how about 20 maps at the start

that way you get 10 multiplayer maps and 10 firefight maps (assuming firefight is in reach)

you'd get a four map, map pack (3 map packs)
2 multiplayer, 2 firefight

map breakdown

muliplayer
x2 arena
x3 small
x2 medium
x2 large
x1 massive

firefight
x3 small
x3 medium
x2 large
x2 massive

forge should be made available for all maps (even firefight)

matchmaking should be optional for firefight

total after map packs 32?

wow, i'm thinking far to big. i guess firefight maps would be easier if they are from campaign levels

so maps from scratch 16
which isn't to bad

i think it would cater to both firefight and multiplayer communities wants evenly.

I kinda want 16-18 MP maps and 8-12 FF maps. I know I'm probably asking for alot but hell this is Halo man!

I agree, but it'd have to be 10 campaign missions like Halo 1's, rather than Halo 2's. In Halo 2, they split up the campaign missions to make it seem like there were more.

For multiplayer, any more than 10 mulitplayer maps would be fine, plus another 7-10 firefight maps.
