Subject: Knifing grunts

O no My Friend

With this being a run off of fall of reach i gewt the felling beatdowns are going bye bye and knifing grunts is going to be the new thing to do along with maybe even calling in air strikes

What you think??

  • 09.13.2009 10:55 PM PDT

Um... I like Halo? I don't really know what to say. I'm a student at the moment, I hope to become a criminal profiler, and I enjoy pretty much everything as long as it's good.

For the fuc killionth time HALO IS NOT CALL OF DUTY!!!

Ok im going to make it simple for you look up at the halo reach picture right there ONE IS HOLDING A KNIFE!!!!!!!! WOW read the books too.....

Listen -blam!- I know the guy is holding a knife but it's still extremely unlikely that the knife will even be implemented seeing as how a melee weapon such as it would do very poorly against shields and armor used by the covenant. The knifes have appeared in Halo 2, 3 and ODST but have never been usable because of 1) The balance issues and 2) it's just unrealistic unless you were fighting naked enemies. Oh and by the way I've read all of the books and there was only one SPARTAN (I don't remember his name) that used the knife more than on absolutely desperate occassions.

Why whould a spartin even use a knife then??????? its not current times its and also reach is going to be a reconnaissance dont you think you chould knife someone if your doing a reconnaissance mission think about it thats what hes good at using.....and you guys always go off of past halo games (new games always able to change things) why do a game with a Spartan that is a pro with a knife and not use it???????

That why they invented silencers for guns. Plus the battle of Reach was not a Reconnaisance mission it was all out war on every front imaginable.

Yeah but the sword is well a -blam!- ENERGY BLADE THAT CAN CUT THROUGH ANYTHING!!!

  • 09.13.2009 11:34 PM PDT

O no My Friend

not really cus why cant you cut though doors with it....also you dont know how the knife can work againt the enemy everyone is too closed minded and i notice you didnt say anything about the beatdowns its the same type of kill but more real cus your not just hitting someone

  • 09.13.2009 11:39 PM PDT

Well the Sword can cut through the enviorenment in the novels, but that was never implemented because well there'snot that many destructible environments. The beatdowns work because they are blunt force trauma which does not puncturing, purely damaging the underlying tissue which means I would rather be a SPARTAN with just his fists than a SPARTAN with a knife.

now in this you siad it's just unrealistic unless you were fighting naked enemies. but then you say they can beat someone down ......sooo you dont think they can put a knife in the covenant??? yeah ok ..... think about it somemore again no one has any idea what there going to do i just think it whould be cool to knife a elite in there back or cut a troat of a grunt

Think about it, what would be easier punching the ever loving -blam!- out of an enemy, or trying to jam a knife in an area that is not covered by armor. Oh and as for the whole cutting their throats thing sliding a knife across any of the covenant's species throat would probably just get you a small scratch and some scraping noises.

i guess you dont know how to trully cut a throat you dont just slide it across you shave it in then move to the other side and again think how strong a spartan is you really dont think it whould be easy for him to out a knife though there armor and its not like there aromor covers every part of them just look at most grunts they dont have have helmets you chould stab them in the brain (you know a spartan can put a knife though a skull) theres all kinds of things the chould do considering when this game is also taking place you dont know ...... also the fact that a elite throat is always open closed minded people also you dont know how easy it whould be for a spartan can or cant or even how hard or eay it whould be for him to put knife though it or what the knife is made out of or anything..... and im done... well see when we get to play the beta

Alright perhaps I didn't think that whole "sliding across the throat" thing though. Anyways it would make the game horribly unbalanced and make people wanna melee even more.

  • 09.14.2009 12:59 AM PDT

For all of you people who think that a knife is less 'futuristic' than hitting someone with the butt of your gun then you must have some serious problems. And also for the same people how do you explain the Spartan in the banner holding a combat knife? Yeah... the only excuse for him/her holding it is that Bungie is just -blam- with us. Yes, Bungie has tricked us before, but they wouldn't mislead us to this extent.

-Peace!

Nihilism (from the Latin nihil, nothing) is a philosophical position that argues that existence is without objective meaning, purpose, or intrinsic value.

Put simply in the words of Nietzsche as "the will to nothingness".

Reference Sgt. Forge armed with a combat knife versus Arbiter armed with dual energy swords who wins?

O no My Friend

look at a reach on energy swords stupid reply to this noo need to say more

  • 09.18.2009 12:11 AM PDT

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

Knives could be used to replace the melee animation on some weapons (like Magnums and Plasma Pistols), but the effect should be basically the same as meleeing with any Brute weapon (+2 damage)

As a result, Elites in mp should have one of the pink needle daggers used by the Jackals in their animation.

Other than that, I see NO reason the knife should be included.

And Air-Strikes are an F-NO

Dude, that fight was retarded, there is no way that EITHER sides of that fight would have gone that way. Effectively you just should have said "Hey, you know that PERFECTLY NORMAL DUDE Sgt. Forge? He's BETTER THAN A SPARTAN.

After all that happened that fight, he would have had broken limbs, internal bleeding, a snapped neck, and a slashed chest. He could realistically NEVER have thrust that knife into the Arbiter's neck.

And i'm sorry, 12 Elites vs 3 Spartans? No, the Elites would have won that fight hand's down.

Good, I'm glad you understand that or else you might be mentally retared. Oh wait! I believe you are because Call of Duty is not the only game to have knives in them (that's a no-brainer).

And let's not forget that CoD only used a gun beatdown until CoD 4, so why not Halo?

You're either stubborn or afraid of change.

People say that a knife would'nt work because of the armor, so why would hitting someone with your gun be anymore powerful? A knife in the FUTURE is most likely made with some kind of alloy that could penetrate the armor and let's not forget we are playing as super humans

Super human + knife= death all around

Also, why would there be a knife in the picture? Bungie is trickey, but they would'nt mislead us to this extent.

Ranting over

So just cuz Call of Duty has air strikes, Halo isn't allowed to? Your logic makes no sense, n00b-cake.
