It really angers me when I spawn in teh path of a rocket. I'm literally dead before I can even move. Why doesn't bungie give you a second to orient yourself? I'd really like to see this in Reach.

If they were worried about balancing it, maybe you won't be able to shoot for that 1 second.

Furthermore, I thought this would allow for a cool animation. Instead of just appearing out of nowhere, an animation could show you comin into existence. Like, your character materializing out of thin air. A bright light, a bunch of particles coalescing into the shape of you character, that sort fo thing.

Here’s what Luke had to say about the differences in treatment between the Spartans and Elites in Reach:

“Instead of piece-by-piece customization like the Spartans, Elite customization is a full model swap with models selected from the various Elite classes appearing throughout the Campaign. There are all kinds of reasons for this, not the least of which is our continued emphasis on the Spartan as your identity in Reach.”

include it as an option, similar to Red Faction: Guerilla.

When players spawn in that game, they are covered by a yellow texture for 5 seconds of spawn invulnerability.

As soon as they do something offensive, other than running or jumping, the invincibility wears off.

As you progress throughout your life you realize that the older you get the closer your are to death, the only thing you cannot change.


Second 1, you can't do anything besides move and jump
Second 2, you Can fire but does almost no damage
Second 3 You can fire but you can get damaged to
Second 4 You can fire doing 80% of normal damage but your sheidls our only slightly stronger
Second 5 you become regular.

Perhaps bungie could try a few different things like this internally before testing it out in the beta. By that time they should have something that is balanced.

I like this idea, spawn killing is a big problem, but its also a tactic and people work hard to get good setups to be able to spawn kill- especially in SWAT and MLG.

I disagree. An animation seems like something in WoW or some other bad looking old old 3d mmo. It barely ever happens so why change it?
