I have noticed ,and am sure you have too, that Halo Three's melee is way to easy and is'nt much fun. So I have been trying to figure out a way to make them more skillfull and fun. Now I know you can make them more skillfull by making combos or making them extremely hard to aim (Republic Commando multiplayer) but to the general public the former isn't much fun and the latter is silly because come on I mean seriously do you miss a punch over and over until you get lucky and hit them, NO (thats like what noob snipes like). So after a few almost sleepless nights I figured out a solution. What I thought up is a system where instead of two hits it would be like four or five but you could melee almost as fast as you want. Now that would be too easy wouldn't it so after that I thought of a way for it to take skill (No it should not be hard to aim where you hit) I thought why not make it a test of your reflexes like most of Halo is. So I thought of when I got punched by my brother about how you tend to thrash your head around when you get socked by someone (yes a supersoldier with an ivincible exoskeloton would even notice an average human hitting him but another of his kind would have similar effects as two humans in a melee) So in the game your line of sight would throw itself in every which direction when you get punched and you'd have to correct it the quickest to win (for people with low sensitivities it momentarily amp them up to the highest sensitivity, also I think something like bumper jumper should be default controls)

I may post a video if enough people vote for it but I'll either have to do it in halo 2 or wait till my 360 gets repaired.

Look... I'm on bungiepedia!

I would rather they just brought back the Halo 1 melee. Still effective but it takes skill. It should have the power of the H3 melee, though (2 hits to kill).

3 hits to kill, Button combos(optional in gametypes menu), momentum melees (optional), very very very little amounts of AA and lunge on melees.

Edit: you hit first, you win. Tiebraker would be sheilds. Second tiebraker would drop sheilds or trade kills (depending on wether or not sheilds were gone before the melee).

A real test of a man is if he is willing to scrape a sharpened razor up and down his junk just to please a woman.

I think it's actually a fairly good idea, as long as there aren't any button combos or anything like that, and the melee lunge STAYS.

EDIT: Don't bring up the "SKILLZ" crap please...

Now why would any sane person put themselves at a disadvantage. And I've been trying to make melees fun not just tap B and hope you shot them more.

Sh1ning Wolf What am I going to say "HARDNESS"!

What I've seen is that games aren't fun if they are way too easy.
And yes I would rather leave melee lunge unless someone is standing on top of a box.

I personally think Halo 3's melee is fine as it is, you shouldn't have to pull off a complex combo just to what a person a few times.

Unless you're proposing to add combos to shooting players too, which I totally disagree with.

Is repositioning your targeting reticule really a combo and complex.

And I never said I wanted button combos.

I'm confused now, what do you mean by repositioning it, just when you melee or all the time?

how about the halo 1 melee? just no Lunge i hate that no skill in that.

Thanks for your smart opinion biggz it's close to what I said. :)

And guys, who do combos hurt if they are only a custom games option. If you don't want to see them, you may never have to.

Ok what I'm saying is if you get hit your screen will move quickly in a random direction if you get hit and you have to reposition the direction you're facing so you can hit them again. I would happen real fast.

Yeah I'm totally for that, I just didn't know if you wanted to screw up melee with button combos, that's what I thought you were talking about for a second.

No I did not want to, thanks for the feedback.

Oh I thought that it would be in the menu like you said earlier but I think it'd be fine in customs.

basically you want a BXB with no button combo and you want to say it will take skill? I have a better idea. how about a BXB! make it optional so that bungie can keep their bandwagon of 7 year olds running around with needlers.

I'm working on a Melee system, that would work but i'm planning on entering the industrie, so i wont share.

Plus, the melee system in Halo 2 was fine.

[Edit] just realised, your 'idea' is already in use
on a game called 'Tremulous' (May be spelt rong)

Fear 1 did that and it really screws up everything. Sometimes you lose track of what you were trying to shoot. If its off screen it can take forever to find who did that. It just isnt a good idea. I think Halo 3's melee system is fine. I dont mind how many punchs it takes or that you zoom towards them. in Halo CE you could melee from futher away and it wouldnt put the melee person in trouble. With Halo 2 or 3 melee of being throw towards the person you meleeing still gives the person being punched a chance to react: the last BR shot in the face, sticky in the face, shotgun shot(in the face lol i just like putting that). So i like it the way it is. Just please chance the both people melee and they both die give it to whoever melees first

Code of Conduct

I like the idea of punching is as fast as you can press the button. But they need to take away the lunge of melee attacks.

Whoever hits first with the most health, wins.

So, Halo 3, then?

Also, there is nothing wrong with Halo 3's melee. I have a solution to it that requires skill. Learn to kill from more than 2 feet away. Problem solved. Use the AR as a real weapon, not a sponge to reduce their health to just below the minimum to kill with melee. It CAN kill from farther away, and so can every other weapon except the sword. The melee is fine. The player needs to adapt to it.
