Not everything in Halo is as it seems. There are plots, schemes, and conspiracies which are nigh unimaginable. Prepare yourself for Halo: the way I see it!

The Prophets: Are poor, misguided fools who are being used by the true face of the covenant, one so secret that even the prophets themselves do not know it's identity. The Prophets were an intelligent but physically lacking race that believed in a higher power. When the "Benefactor", the true face of the covenant told them he was their deity, they readily agreed to serve him. With his ample workforce, they managed to construct ships and he led them to ancient foreigner technology. Using this technology, they developed hyperspace travel, and set off to find allies so that they could fulfill his ultimate mission, which involved the destruction of humanity.

The Elites: Futuristic Conquistadors, the Elites were the covenant's first allies. Pure warriors, they were promised land and gold in the worlds that would be conquered. They joined the covenant, with the promise of wealth beyond compare, and worlds that were easy pickings to those with superior forerunner technology. The only beef they had with the Prophets was that they would not tell them who, or what their "Benefactor" was. When the secret was revealed, the truth was so horrible that it caused the elite's to defect the Covenant's cause, and the "Benefactor"' s identity would be a secret that each of them would take to their grave.

The Brutes: A race of scientists and philosophers, the Brutes had an intellect to rival even that of the Prophets. The Prophets needed allies when the Elites defected, and so they went to the Brute's to find them. The Brute's were lured into battle by promises of scientific progress that would be made with the specimens from battle. The Prophet's didn't need anyone asking questions as to who was controlling the operation, so the Prophets cleverly forced them to watch Disney movies non-stop for weeks on end, simultaneously lowering their intelligence and instilling within them a deep-seeded hatred for humans, until they became the brutes you meet in the game.

The Forerunners: were am ancient yet incredibly advanced race that created the ultimate biological weapon, an organism that could copy itself endlessly and overrun others with sheer numbers. Their creation inevitably turned on them however, so they created The Flood, the ultimate weapon against an organism with potential for infinite biological copies of itself. The Flood, too turned on the Forerunners however, and so they created the Halos, weapons that could kill everything. They even botched that to, didn't they. Kinda sad;really.

The Flood: Was created by the Forerunners to destroy the organism which would become "the Benefactor". They turned on them, once they thought that their job was complete. Oh, how wrong they were.

The Grunts: Otherwise known as "the Benefactor", the grunts, or should I say, the grunt created the Covenant (using his own copies as foot soldiers) for the singular purpose of bolstering the only resource he lacked. For he had everything, infinite bodies, technology, supreme intelligence, and good looks. But, like every other organism, he needed to breathe. For better or worse, the Forerunners created him with the capacity to breathe methane and nothing else. The problem was that methane happens to be very scarce in the galaxy, save for one place. That's right, The entire human-covenant war was set up so that the Grunt could steal Earth's cows and gain a never ending supply of methane.

............ For the record, this isn't the official canon, obviously, and so I can violate all the rules of the halo story I want. If you don't like it, too bad.

Proud frenchie, elite fan, anthro artist not hellbent on yiff convention/pics/whatever, mature and intelligent forum guy, 4chaner, halo 2 lover and halo 3 hater.

i stopped at the elite paragraph.
the covenant are an alliance of alien races, founded by THE ELITES AND THE PROPHETS, the prophets being the rulers and the elites their army.

I saw you talked about the floods... I didn't read it but you do know floods were not on reach?

I realise its supposed to be funny, but how is it funny? Theres no real humour in it mate. Not anything worth reading, anyway.

Its spam.

Acctully it was pretty funny, but took way to much effort to create. As he said, spam.

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

Actually it is all described in Contact Harvest. The Prophets found a Forerunner AI on board the Dreadnaught (Named Mendicant Bias) whom they named their Oracle, as they already held high worship of the Forerunners at the time, this seemingly living specimen was like a Demi-God to them. The War against the Humans was ONLY caused by the Prophet's discovery that they were the Reclaimers, and thus the Forerunner left some behind, breaking an old Covenant promise to its races.

Well, not so much, the Elites have no time for petty wealth. They actually, alongside the Prophets, CREATED the Covenant, as a truce act after a War between them that left nearly both sides extinct. In truth, the Elites believed in the worship of Forerunner artifacts, as opposed to implementation and use. Time in the Covenant has watered down these beliefs, however. And also, it was less an Elite Defection, more the Prophet betrayal (Truth had already declared open war and released the Brutes on the Elites BEFORE the Elites discovered Halo's secret.

Uhh... Brutes have been described as "Intelligent as a Rodent" and effectively RETARDED, this is why they are so loyal. They do NOT understand the truth (even after hearing the truth out of guilty spark himself, Tartarus STILL believed the Prophets and attempted to activate Halo. They are Lap Dogs to the Prophets, nothing more. Also keep in mind, the Brutes attacked Harvest almost immediately after the Prophets ordered them to, without question. Even GRUNTs had the intelligence to question the point of the War.

Whether or not the Flood is a creation is still completely unknown. But that Biological weapon probably didn't exist. Ever.

Possibly, unlikely.

Yeah no, that is definitely no... Too ridiculous, by far. Especially considering the Grunts were forced into the Covenant when the Elites STOMPED THEM INTO THE GROUND at war. There is no way they were ever dangerous, to anyone, ever.

I don't care what you were TRYING to do, but obviously breaking Canon does not work.

Actually, it looks like he was serious to start, then got lost in his own, childish imagination.
