Glad that Halo 3 garbage is dead, thanks to Reach.
Unfreakenbelievable!!

The BR is just a weapon. It's all about its functionality that affects gameplay.

But, if it is in Reach with Halo 3's functionality, I will have sadface. Nothing is fun about a "precision" weapon that sprays almost as bad as an Assault Rifle.

I would be perfectly content with the weapon if it was a very accurate single-shot weapon. Hmmm, sounds like a Magnum. Well, that's kind of my opinion. If it feels like the M6D Pistol from Halo:CE, then I say "hell yeah", bring us a BR. But, there sure as hell better not be some Halo 3 BR-esque weapon as the dominant mid-ranged force. If that is the case then they may as well make the AR headshot-capable.

But, it could be a good idea to up the Magnum's power to its former glory and then update the AR to a weapon that functions with combined BR and AR features, like scope and conrolled RoF that becomes less accurate when trigger is pulsed quickly or held down.

That's my opinion. And, if you didn't notice, it resolves around a strong Magnum-esque weapon. That would infinitely improve upon Halo 3's gameplay, in my opinion.

blarg, bow chicka wow wow, boomshakalaka,

y dont they just adjust the rate of fire on the BR down so it'll take longer to kill but would still be able to be a useful anti-sniper weapon that can prove useful if needed to give cover.

Do we really want to use the Carbine all the time like we do in Firefight?

Some kind of tweaked BR is necessary, the Auto-Mag is mostly useless and the notion of a scoped power pistol as a replacement was and still is silliness.

Slowing its fire rate would be weird(it's a gun not a bow) so adjust it's damage...make it a 5 shot or require all three shots of the 'spray' to hit for to work best or something.

Looking for MLG teammates.

Lol, dumbest question ever. It doesn't matter what we think. The BR will be back. MOst of the people in here replying have not one clue what it's like to play MLG with 50s in MLG. It's not easy, if it's so easy, go play with MLG 50s and out BR them every time. please. go ahead. it will be back. THE BR IS NECESSARY FOR HALO TO CONTINUE.

MAKE XBOX LIVE FREE!!!!!!

There is no good reason to not have the BR in Reach.

If you anything, taking the BR out of Reach will decrease sales, and fan base. And we all know the Money hungry Bungie wont go for that.

"Now they need to remove crouch jumping and the points system. Then their campaign towards musical-chairs-with-more-seats-than-people will be in full force."

Get good with the BR /thread

There are those who said this day would never come. What have they to say now?

Yes, but with some modifications, such as recoil.

  • 10.10.2009 2:32 AM PDT

Even if they don't add the BR, they need to include some kind of Medium/long range skill weapon. People running at each other spraying full auto weapons and trading beat-downs isn't my idea of fun, competitive game-play.

With 58% of Bungie forum goers wanting to keep the BR I am pretty confident that it will be in Halo: Reach. If its not then there will be a weapon so similar that it might as well be called a BR. A BR prototype maybe?

Mid-long range weapons are needed in halo games. It is a weapon that takes skill to use. You need to master the timing of the shots, lead, have exceptional accuracy, and have good reaction time to get the first shot. The more skilled player almost always wins battles because of this. Halo would be very stale and slow paced without powerful mid range weapons, not to mention gametypes on bigger maps wouldn't work at all. So they will always be a part of Halo.

enjoi

Do you want the hardcore skilled Halo fans that keep each game alive to play your game? (VOTE: YES)

Do you want your game to be played a few times then die out? (VOTE:NO)

Its as simple as that Bungie, you know it don't run from it make a good game for the people who have been faithful for so many years and keep your games alive. I know each employee has to attend at least one MLG event before Reach comes out, so come to one and let your eyes be opened and your mind blown and see the light, only then you will know the right thing to do!

Do you really think, this far into the development cycle, that the weapons haven't already been finalised? One of the first things they would do would be plan the weapons and produce concept art to get an idea of their design. You might as well argue about whether the ability to jump will be in the game because like it or not, the BRs presence/lack of presence in the game was decided long ago, and there's absolutely nothing a poll posted by an illiterate 13 year old will do to change that.

  • 10.10.2009 4:00 AM PDT

It'll either be the br , or pistol with scope or somethhing similar as br. DUH

I say bring back the H2 BR or the CE pistol (both would be awesome). If they don't want those powerful weapons in MM then they could just allow it in custom games, and Hardcore/MLG type playlists. Then they could stick a nerfed BR in regular playlists to be nice to all the people who hate fasted paced commpetitive type play.

The BR is good in Halo 3, but if they bring it to Reach, FIX IT. Don't have it have a random spread. There's nothing wrong with perfectly accurate weapons. If you can't rely on your weapons, what can you rely on? Also, don't slow down the rate of fire like so many of these bad kids are suggesting. It already takes too long to kill people with it in Halo 3, which is why running away is so common. Getting shot? Go around the corner and spam nades at the corner, so that the other guy can either risk charging through nades to finish you or let you escape. In Halo CE (The best of the Halo games) good aim with the pistol would earn you your kill at a good speed. That's what we need in Reach.

Also, I'm thrilled Bungie's done with the series after Reach. Their games have gone downhill.
