Steven

I realize this isnt directly about Reach but some of these ideas are fun to imagine.

I imagine a game that combines the best of Halo wars and the best of Halo 3. Now this might sound far fetched by id like you to hear me out.

Imagine a game like Halo Wars, an RTS, but with the click of a button, switches to a FPS. What i mean is, you have a battefield full of units shooting away at the enemies. You select a particular unit that you want to control and hit the FPS button. Suddently you become that unit.

Crazy, I know. But to balance this, you will have more abilites in FPS view. For example, your units cannot hyjack enemy vehicles unless done so from the FPS view. Furthermore, in FPS view you will be able to enter structures. Infact, at points in the game you will have to be in FPS view inorder to compelte the mission. Like, you will have to enter a base and disarm a bomb or something like that.

The point of this concept is to develiver the feeling of epic scale battles in a FPS style yet haveing the ability to control your army with the precision of a RTS.

Anyway, this is just something is was thinking about. If you love it or hate it, its just for fun.

Theres already a game like that. Raven Squad. You can readily switch between RTS and FPS. Not that futuristic. Having that ability would have made Halo Wars so much more successful.

Proud frenchie, elite fan, anthro artist not hellbent on yiff convention/pics/whatever, mature and intelligent forum guy, 4chaner, halo 2 lover and halo 3 hater.

your fps rts is an old idea, a few games already existing have that feature XD fps mode looks bad, and overview mode too.

in 20 years, we'll see killzone 2 screenshots and say "zomfg lol... games looked like crap back then :/ even my wii 9 can do better graphics!"

I hunt for the Prophet of Contentment, the San 'Shyumm that murdered my son, and stole his birthright, his Energy Sword. They call our species Heretics. They claim to all that our tongues sting, our words a vile poison that feeds on the unworthy. I have seen the true face of Heresy. The head of a gallant warrior lay on the ground. His neck scorched and blistered, scarred by his own blade. I shall retrieve the weapon, and drive it through that bastard's heart! Punishment for his sins is nigh.

The only problem with this though, is that good RTS players, never focus on one aspect of the game at a time. So a player who is RTSing all the time, will probably win in the long run against a player FPSing (Especially considering the RTS player could just order EVERYTHING to attack the other player's controlled character and kill him off.)

But thats win that player goes into RTS, and orders his other men to get there arses over there.
